You lost me forever

The news of my engagement to Alex  had spread through the whole city and  every media house was reporting on it.

That morning , I received  billions of texts that I haven’t gotten from anyone since the divorce .

Firstly I got a message from my parents wanting to speak to me and also from a couple of business partners showing admiration and support for my new engagement.

When I arrived at the office that morning , it was unusually calm and all the workers had that expression on their faces .

No one dared to say a word, they didn’t want to get on my bad side shd they better not.

My ex husband  Tristian didn't  come to work that morning and for the first time , his office was empty and had this feeling of emptiness lurking around it .

The weird character that he displayed yesterday made it creepier but why should I care about it?

As I went through my files  that day , I noticed that I had a lot of stuff that I hadn’t gone through and most were  from the company on my part .

Before I could totally drown myself with the work , a text from Alex  came through , he was telling me to put up a brave day at work .

Alex  is the perfect  man for me , I knew it , there was no one better .

Last night after he dropped me , he didn’t say a word about it but I know that he has so much that he wants to talk about but was finding it so hard to say the damn words .

He hugged me and then left , the feeling of emptiness clouded my heart and all I wanted was for him to hug me and tell me everything was going to be okay but he didn’t.

Mam’m someone called and when I raised up my head it was Rissa  my PA standing by the door and her  face on me .

“ What's the issue?” I asked her as  I went through the files .

“Mr Tristan had called for an emergent meeting with most of the shareholders “

He did what !!

“ They are talking about taking you out of the company if you are getting married to his opposition .

“That’s okay , I will be there”I replied as I bent back to my files .

Tristan , that stupid son of a bitch, what was he trying to do ?Does he think that talking to them was going to make any stupid difference .

 It was time , I showed the bastard the stuff that I  am made of .

Tristan was standing right beside my door , his eyes held that much rage that I hadn’t seen in him for a long time since the divorce .

He wore a brown suit , and his hair well arranged , he was angry , I could yell from his dressing .

“I asked you a question for the last time  and you will do well to answer me”Tristan screamed at me as he  walked into the office .

I never bothered to raise my head up , I remained calm going through  my files without giving him the attention he wanted .

It was already 4pm and most of the workers were gone but there were a few left. Tristan had come to work by 1 and had been typing on his computer , till I saw him standing by my door .

“ Solane “ he called out grabbing my hands and that was when I lost , I smacked him hard across the face .

The silence that followed with the smack was the best.

Tristan slowly raised his head up to look at me when I stood up to face him , this was the first time  I had ever hit him back .

“ You didn’t just do that” he says his voice coming out in a whisper like he was trying to grasp what  had just happened .

“If you say something about my fiancee again, I’m going to hit you hard across the face, you are the one who calls for an emergency meeting and yet still  need  an explanation .

“So,you are just going to marry him just to  spite me huh , isn’t  that what all of this is about?Our divorce isn’t been up to a month and you want to marry my enemy ?

“ You know what Tristan , the word doesn't revolve around you , we were once married and it ended in tragedy and I took it as it was .

“Two days later you tried to humiliate me by showing off your misters to taunt me , but why should I care ? 

I don’t love you , I never did , I think meeting with Alex  all over showed me how blinded I was .

So don’t think any of this is about you , I don’t care about you , what I know is that I love Alex  and since we got a second chance , I’m never going to put it away , you blow your chance Tristan .

I don’t even know why you should care , you never loved me , you showed that you didn’t from the way you treated me .

  Tristian smiled sheepishly and then approached me with a calm look on his face .

I didn’t know why I moved back , but my legs kept moving back till my back was against the wall and he was hovering  on top of me .

Our eyes ran into each other and at that moment , I felt that tension that I hadn’t felt in years , what was all of this about .

“When I kiss you solace , then you will understand that you could never leave , that was the only reason  you stayed in that hell of a marriage.

“ I agree that I never loved you and I just wanted to marry you because Alex  made it fun , and I got what I wanted and that was why I treated you the way I did .

“But , you can’t love anyone else solane  , you are mine and you are always mine “  he says as  slowly grabs my neck .

I felt the tears threatening to come out of my eyes.

All that moment all that I was feeling suddenly disappeared and all that I felt was anger and hatred .

As Tristan bent his head to kiss me , I spat on him  and pushed him away from me .

“You lost me forever, I am never going to be yours again .
