Chapter 40: Confession

"Evelyn called me this afternoon." Grace opened the conversation after the two movies were over and Scott's eyes started to get heavy. Hearing this, Scott immediately woke up.

"Finally." Grace heard a hint of bitterness in Scott's answer. "What did she tell you? I'm glad you guys can finally communicate."

"It's not what you think. She didn't even apologize for what happened a few months ago and instead blamed me because I couldn't stand up for myself." Scott straightened his back when he heard that. One of his eyebrows shot up as if to ask what Grace meant. "Evelyn immediately cornered me as if I wasn't trying to contact her, not trying to hold on to her, let alone not trying to repay all of her efforts."

"I understand you, Grace. You must be very disappointed even though you've been trying to survive all this time, in these uncertain conditions, just for Evelyn. But I hope you also need to understand Evelyn. You must also know that her position is also hard for her.”
