Evelyn POV
I woke up the next morning to my alarm with a killer headache and my stomach in shambles. I groaned sitting up and realized that I was still in the clothes from the day before. Great. What the hell happened last night? One of the last things I remember was going to the strip club with Scott. As I tried to get ready for the day, bits and pieces of last night began to float back into place. I got a ton of shots, trying to calm down after that mess of a meeting. For whatever reason, Scott knew the bartender on a first name basis. That’s when the memory of her popped back into my mind. Pearl. I doubt my drunken memories were doing her beauty any justice. I knew I had to see her again.
I finished getting ready for the day and drove to work, passing Pearl’s strip club as I did. I wonder if she’ll be there tonight. When I walked into my office, Scott was already there, leaning up against my desk, scrolling on his tablet. As soon as he noticed that I was there, he turned around before presenting me with a bagel, water glass, and a pain killer pill. Every time I came into the office with a hangover, which was more often than I would like to admit, Scott was always prepared with those three things.
“Thanks,” I said as I set down my bag and took the food and water.
“After last night, I knew you’d need it,” Scott responded, picking his tablet up again. “I mean last night was wild. Do you remember any of it?” I shrugged in response.
“Not really,” I replied before taking the painkillers with a drink of water.
“So, you don’t remember spending ten thousand dollars on a tip for Pearl.” I nearly choked before going into a coughing fit.
“What?” I managed to get out in between coughs.
“I’ll take that as a no.” I made a scramble for my phone. All the colour drained from my face as I pulled up my banking app and noticed there was a ten-thousand-dollar charge made to my card to ‘Hollywood Strip’. Did I really spend that much on a stripper? Sure, she was hot, but was I that intoxicated by her and the alcohol that I spent ten thousand dollars on her?
“And I suppose you don’t remember going up to her afterwards and asking her for a private event?” What? Heat rose in my cheeks and ears. What else did I do to embarrass myself last night? I shook off the thoughts of last night. I had to get focused, not thinking about Pearl, about the millions of drunken mistakes I must have made. I couldn’t think about that right now. Right now, I had to worry about patching things up with Mr. Armstrong’s company.
About midday, I got a call from my father. I stared at my buzzing phone’s lit up screen for a second, wondering if I should even answer it. I hated taking calls with my father. With him, there was always something to complain about. It didn’t matter that under me, the company was more successful than ever, there was always something I was doing wrong. But I knew that if I didn’t pick up, he would just call again. So, I hit the answer button and put him on speaker.
“Hello?” I said, waiting for the berating to start. Instead, something much worse began.
“Hello Evelyn,” he responded in his gruff and harsh voice, “I have a quick question for you.”
“What is it?” I asked.
“There’s a suspicious charge on your account and I was wondering if you knew anything about it.” Oh no. “There appears to be a ten-thousand-dollar charge made to your card at a place called ‘Hollywood Strip’. Did you make that purchase?” I froze in my seat. How was I supposed to explain this one? I mean how does someone explain to their strict father that they went to a strip club? And then have to explain that yes, I spent a thousand dollars there to tip the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life? He still disapproved of the fact that I was a lesbian!
“Uh,” I stammered, attempting to come up with some type of excuse on the fly. “Yeah, I made that purchase.”
“Why?”
“I was rewarding a few employees,” I replied instantly, now with the perfect excuse. “We went there because they have a bar that one of them suggested. I bought them drinks, telling them it was my treat. They took advantage of that fact and bought the most expensive drinks the place had.” It wasn’t the perfect excuse and I knew that even then, my father would still get on to me, but it was better than the truth. There was a moment of silence. All I could hope now was that he would believe me.
“You shouldn’t be spending money on your employees like that,” he retorted, a hint of anger in his voice. I sighed out the breath I didn’t realize I was holding in. “They’re your employees, not your friends.”
“Yes sir,” I responded as I got back to my work. “Is there anything else you wanted to talk to me about?”
“No,” he replied and just like that he hung up like he always did, without a goodbye. That’s when Scott, who had been in my office for the whole thing, looked up from the work on his tablet.
“I guess next time you go see Pearl, you’ll have to be more careful on where and how you spend your money,” he said. Next time? I never told him about my plans to see her again.
“What do you mean?” I asked, trying to play oblivious. Cocking his head to the side and raising an eyebrow he gave me an, ‘Oh really?’ look.
“Like you wouldn’t go back to see her after last night,” he responded. He was right though. This time I had to be more discreet.

Evelyn POVAfter work, I rushed home as fast as I could. The more I thought about it the more I realized that not only would I have to be discreet about spending my money there but I would also have to be discreet about being there in the first place. No one could recognize me there. So, I put on some sunglasses and a hat. Most of the time I was seen in the public eye I was always in business wear so I couldn’t wear my normal outfits. I almost put on sweats knowing no one would recognize me in those. Then I thought about Pearl and realized there was no way I was wearing sweats to see her. I grabbed the one clubbing dress I still had from my college days, a tiny black dress that barely covered my ass. Then I headed to the club, making a stop at an atm on my way there. It wasn’t even that late when I arrived at the club, probably only eight o’clock. Compared to last time, there were way fewer people, probably not even half th
Grace POV:“Would you like to go on a date with me?” I ask the heat rising in my cheeks and staring at my bare feet on the glitter-covered floor. I knew that I wanted to ask her out the moment I saw her again tonight. She was beautiful and treated me like an actual person rather than a sex object. I mean it was just one date. What was the harm in that? I looked up at her to find her face as red as her hair.“Um,” she stammered, trying to make a decision. My heart pounded in my chest as I waited for her decision. “No.” With that one word she spun on her heel and walked out of the club. Oh. For a moment I just had to stand there, trying to process what happened. She rejected me so quickly. It didn’t hurt that much, I mean after the way I’m usually treated, I was more shocked than hurt. I thought we had something between us.Silently I went back into the dressing room and got ready to head home. There was
Evelyn POV:Why on earth did I say no? As I fell asleep and got ready in the morning it was all I could think about. I felt so stupid! She was gorgeous, perfect even. And I just rejected her and left! What the fuck was I thinking? As I approached the Frost Empire, I remembered why I said no. The media would eat me up. My father would probably disown me. The empire that my father had built up over his entire life would fall apart. My life would fall apart and I would be a joke.At least that’s what my father told me when I first came out to him in high school. But maybe there was a chance. The world was becoming more progressive. When my father grew up there was no way I could’ve done this. But now, maybe. But even then, she was a stripper, it might be different if it was any other woman.I went on with my workday, it being a little more chaotic than normal since Scott was gone. He called in that morning
Pearl POV:I was once again standing behind the curtain on the stage. On stage one of the dancers was finishing up her routine and starting to grab the money on the floor to shove into her bra or panties. She wasn’t getting much, the dancers before me never really did. She turned back towards the curtains, faking a smile the entire time. Before she returned behind the curtain, she blew a kiss and came backstage. As she walked off, she was glaring at me. For the past couple of days there’s been an increase in my regular tips. Even though I could never spot her, there was no doubt it was Evelyn. None of the other girls got this increase and it was easily ten thousand or more every night. It’s been a couple days since I’ve actually seen her, but there was no doubt it was her.Tonight, was different however. When I took a peek out of the curtain, there she was. She was casually chatting with Jimmy. She looked gorgeous. Of
Evelyn POV:“You did what?” Scott asked, eyes wide. Even though it was a Saturday we were having our weekly brunch at the local cafe. I had just told him the events of last night. Grinning from ear to ear.“I asked her out!” I squealed. I was so excited I didn’t even care who was listening. I had a date with her. A date with Pearl. It felt magical and butterflies leapt around in my stomach just thinking about tonight.“Do you even know her real name?” Scott asked as he cut into his omelette. That’s when it hit me that I didn’t even know her real name. I just knew her stage name. I pierced my lips. I was too horny for my own good. Scott laughed at my response. “God Evelyn you’re such a mess sometimes.” That’s when my phone rang. My father. Of course, he of all people would call on the weekend.“What are you doing out of the office,” he snapped as soo
Pearl POVIt’s 8 am now and I haven’t slept yet. Not even a bit. How can I sleep when I just got that message? After I received the envelope, I looked around for a while to see who left the envelope there but I didn’t see anyone, I had my pocket knife with me in case someone attacked me. ‘Bring 55K to me or I’ll leak the photo, tomorrow, 4 pm outside the club’I read it over and over again while wondering who’s doing this? I don’t understand, how would this person know that I have 55k with me? Why is this person blackmailing me and not Evelyn? She had a lot more money than me. Not that I mind though, I don’t want to stress her. And that means I won’t tell her about this as well.Anyway, talking about Eve
Pearl POV:All of a sudden, I felt a hand on my mouth and I got dragged to a small alley. I cannot turn and look at the person, but I know for sure that it’s a man. I keep struggling and trying to set free from him. “Stop moving. It’s no use” he said in a low and monotone voice. I don’t care and still struggling even though I know it’s no use, just like he said. “If you don’t want to get hurt, you better stop struggling” he spit, still using the low and monotone voice, but I can feel that he is getting annoyed, I don’t want to stop, but let’s be honest, I’m scared, I don’t know what he can do to me.
Evelyn POV:‘Why does a beautiful person such as Pearl decide to become a stripper? Was she in an unfavourable situation? Isn’t it dangerous for her?’ Scott’s words linger in my mind that whole afternoon. A loud ping and vibration from a rectangle gadget in my hand drew me back to reality. I found an unknown number texted me, but it takes a blink of an eye to know the sender. I never give my number recklessly, and of course, it also has its sender’s name. I immediately saved it as ‘Shining Pearl’ and answered her text. Time goes faster when you enjoy life, they said. I remembered I haven’t prepared for the date yet and it's already 4!‘Hey Pearl, I loved to chat with you over text. But let’s talk later, okay? Let’s get ready for a chat over dinner later. See you!’ I text her with a heavy heart. I left my phone on the vanity table and went for a shower. I use my favourite lavender bath bomb, pop some red wine, and enjoy it over music in my bathtub. Thinking about it later already mak
