The cubs were reporting the scenario while every member of the pack listened with bated breath.
“A white wolf took them off guarded. Zenia, the female Alpha.” A soft, chubby and cute looking cub muttered loudly.
“She attacked the farthest wolf. She bit its neck. She is moving toward the next one. Everybody has encircled her. Her mouth is dripping with blood. One of the wolves has sent an emergency signal.” The cub reported the happenings in real time at the border.
As soon as his voice fell, they heard the howling of the intruders. One after the other, every intruder howled. And then, the intruders in the west and north hurried their stance.
“West and north, they are moving fast. Need assistance.” The cub calmly stated. Thanks to the instant real time information, the pack members knew that south and east were secured.
The warrior teams went to provide assistance to the west and north teams. Together they ferociously attacked the intruders. The intruders were outnumbered and died pitifully. Some of them managed to run away.
The Silver Cresent pack had given them the nightmare of a lifetime. They would never be coming back. The pack rejoiced in its victory.
The cub kept looking at Zenia with pursed lips. He admired and feared Zenia. She was strong and ruthless. He watched her single handedly deal with a dozen wolves. He watched the massacre with cold eyes without blinking.
He was Zion, the son of the current beta. If things went on as per plans, he would become Zenia’s stepson.
Zion watched Zenia’s flawless actions. In his heart, he had mixed feelings. Zenia was a good Alpha, but could she be a good mother to him? Could she be a good wife to his father?
Complex thoughts swirled in his small mind. And then, he sensed a sharp sight. Zenia was looking at him! Zion became flustered and came down from the archer’s spot.
Zenia, instead of hurrying towards her pack, went towards the nearby waterfall. She took a dip in the cold water. Thanks to the incessant killing, her bloodthirst had diminished.
Amelia’s voice appeared in Zenia’s mind.
“What were you thinking? We are female Alpha for a reason. We don’t need a mate. Especially, a mate who is weak and unfaithful.”
Zenia did not counterattack at this time. She continued to wash her bloody face. It was she who could not resist the pull. It was she who forced Amelia to be together with Kieth. But what happened in the end?
No wonder the elders had been against the human mates since the genesis. She was glad that she woke up soon from her fantasies.
She walked gracefully to her home, the Silver Crescent pack. The members bowed and welcomed her. Steven and others were here too. They gave her a nonchalant glance and left.
She went to her bedroom to have some rest. She slept as soon as her head hit the pillow.
…..
Kieth was becoming used to sleepless nights. He had only two objectives. First, find Amelia. Second, deal with the Scotts.
With every passing day, his restlessness was increasing by leaps and bounds. Any clue leading to Amelia always ended in a dead end. His heart was losing hope, his eyes were becoming dull. To him, Amelia had become a drug. A drug he could not survive without any longer.
At first, to him, she was just an ordinary woman, which he thought could be used and discarded at his will. But when the chance to distance himself from her arrived, he found himself filled with reluctance and even panic.
He could not deny his feelings. He did not know if this was the so called love or not. All he knew was that he wanted her. He needed her. Without her, everything had lost its color. It was like he was sent back to the dark abyss. Without her, even breathing was painful.
He was baffled. Because he did not know where such strong feelings came from. He was an unloved child, trained since birth for succession, power, and wins. Love had nothing to do with him.
But Amelia had become his mad obsession. He worked day and night. He spent money like water, used all his sources and channels, threatened, bribed, and used every means to find her. But nothing worked. To others, she never existed.
It was only he and his subordinates who had ever come in contact with her. Had not for the confession of the bodyguards, Kieth would have taken Amelia as a dream. But she was real. He had touched her, caressed her, and kissed her. She had to be real.
“Sir, we have received 51 percent shares in total.” The assistant meekly informed Kieth. Since Amelia left, everybody could sense the drip in temperature around the boss.
Everybody was treating him like a volcano, which could erupt at any time.
“Not enough. Buy more.” Kieth sharply responded.
“Yes Sir.” The assistant ran as fast as if he was being chased by dogs.
Keith smirked at the assistant’s act. He picked up his coat and drove straight to his house.
He went to the underground training center. He fought with his bodyguards. He hit viciously. He got hit but he never winced or stopped. Even when blood seeped through his knuckles he never stopped. His agitation was increasing. No amount of pain could give him any relief. In his mind, Amelia’s sweet smile lingered like a fragrance.
He left the ring and ran to the bedroom.
In the bedroom, Amelia’s scent was evaporating ever so slightly. He opened the closet, took out her dress, and inhaled deeply. Only her scent could calm his raging heart.
He did not know the reason for his strong emotions, but his heart repeatedly told him that he wanted her. It obsessively played the same line on a loop. He wanted her. He wanted her.
Before Amelia could register anything, Kieth broke free from her grip and bent down in pain. Guttural groans croaked out of his throat. He bit his lips hard to stop the scream threatening to break free.Sweat covered his forehead. Sickly pallor colored his face and all the blood rushed to his eyes, making them blood red. His legs buckled and his hands trembled.Amelia saw it with panic, pain, and anxiety. She too, followed his footsteps and kneeled, reholding his hands in a tighter grip. The moment she touched his hands, the unbearable pain assaulted her senses. It was Kieth’s pain. Thanks to Mate Mark, she could share his pain. Everything was happening very fast. She did not have time to think. It was her instinctive reaction.Moments before, she was dissatisfied with the forced Mate Mark, but now, she thanked her stars! She quickly held him tightly and shared his agony. Kieth’s legs trembled and he kneeled on the ground, making it easier for
Under the moonless night, the silence and darkness covered them from head to toe. Amelia waited and waited but received no response from the other side.It wasn’t exactly easy for her either. She wasn’t one to drag things. She wanted a clean cut instead of this mess of a relationship.“Amelia, did you get me wrong? Do you think you can leave me twice, and I will watch it happen?” Kieth’s slow and rough voice hit Amelia unhurriedly. Her eyes started twitching. She could feel that something was wrong. Kieth had begun leaking his Alpha pressure. Was it intentional or not she didn’t know.Kieth started taking leisurely steps toward her. His eyes never left her, even for a second. She unwittingly took a step back, wanting to create some distance between them. But much to her disappointment, the Alpha pressure increased and made her halt. She looked at Kieth in alarm and surprise. This Alpha pressure…it was like a rope around her waist, with its ot
‘On a vacation. Don’t bother me. Switch to Plan B.’ Under it was his powerful and flawless signature. Steven pursed his lips as he took the paper. He didn’t know who leaked this information! Even Amelia didn’t know that he planned to look into Kieth’s background once again! There were three main points worth investigating. First, how did Kieth end up in the human realm? Second, what exactly was the training Kieth had to undergo in order to become the heir of the Williams’ Empire and third, what happened to his engagement?“What’s Plan B?” Steven couldn’t hide his curiosity.“Details on how to run the company and who will manage what if I am not there.” Kieth lowered his eyes and focused on the Art of Duel.“But why would you prepare something like that in advance?” Steven put the paper inside an envelope as he asked.“My doctor once told me that I couldn’t live past this month. So, Plan B was a contingency plan.” Kieth turned th
What? Was that even possible? Steven did not know how to react! All his admiration and hope had turned to shock! He had seen people struggling to change into a wolf, but he had never seen a wolf struggling to change into a human! This was unforeseen!‘Um, Amelia, we have a minor situation here.’ Steven haphazardly mind linked Amelia.Damn! As Amelia heard his distress call, she felt annoyed. She still has not figured out what to do with Kieth. She walked to the training grounds and saw a black wolf and a surprised Steven at a glance.“He cannot change back!” Steven pointed to the black wolf and could not mask his astonishment.Amelia stopped in her tracks and mechanically looked at the black wolf, who stood there at a loss. She could not hide her smile at the situation.Unlike the stoic and expressionless Kieth, this black wolf was more vivid. She could see the annoyance, irritation, frustration, an
Amelia’s smile disappeared while Kieth became shocked at his sudden words.“We can’t.”“Forget it.”Both Amelia and Keith spoke at the same time, making them stunned again.Meanwhile, the cub yawned and released a satisfied purr, successfully disturbing the awkward silence between his parents.Amelia quickly took the cub from his arms and busied herself in putting him in the cradle.Kieth felt aggrieved. He knew what he spoke was just in the spur of a moment. He also knew that it was the most unromantic confession, but that didn’t mean that Amelia’s sudden denial didn’t hurt him!‘Why?’ Unable to take his mind off the straight rejection, Kieth asked Amelia through the mind link. The sudden voice in her head made Amelia stop for a second and then she resumed covering the cub with the blanket.‘Because I am an Alpha, the rituals are complicated. Also, one can only get married on a full moon night. It’s almost a fortnight a
Shit! He knew everything! No wonder he was so calm! Because he had already understood the situation from listening to the thoughts of everyone.Thinking back at their collective mind link and unbridled words, Amelia felt dazed. No wonder he claimed that he had his own way of knowing the truth! Damn!“Still acting dumb? Don’t have anything to share?” Kieth tried his best to remain calm, but his eyes had already betrayed him.Alarm bells started going off in Amelia’s head. Her survival instinct kicked in.“No. I don’t have anything to tell!” Amelia hurriedly spoke. An icy layer coated Kieth’s eyes. Amelia could feel the Alpha pressure leaking from him. Before he could burst or snap, she quickly held his hand and smiled brightly.Taken aback, Kieth froze for a moment. Her bright smile was blinding. How long had it been since he saw her genuine smile? She expertly grabbed his attention and when he looked dazed, Amelia took th
