Brielle’s POV
“You ran from the Crescent pack and dared come to Eclipse. Brave kitten,” Zane remarked, his smirk terrified me morethan his words. “ I was pulled here by the tides, I wasn't looking for trouble,” I responded with a trembling voice, scared to death as I stood in between both brothers. From the stories, I feared I might had ran into an equal situation like the one I was fleeing from. I confirmed his identity when he turned to place new wood into the fire. his alpha mark was visible on his back but he was different from the other alphas. he didn't have the submission mark. The submission marks were on all the Alphas that had bent the knee to Chase. “You fell from the edge of the cliff at Crescent?” Lucien asked with his gaze fixated on the burning wood. “Not fall, I jumped off it. It was either that or face torture from Chase.” I responded. “You expect me believe that you survived the fall from the Crescent cliff? That's impossible," Zane retorted swiftly. “ Are you lying, kitten?" he thundered his question with a furious brow. “I have no reason to lie. There's no point of it," I answered carefully, calming my racing my heart with deep slow breath. "I believe you," Alpha Lucien sighed heavily by the fireside. "Our sister was once his bride also," My breath seized in hearing those words. I recalled Alpha Chase having a Luna before I left the pack. "Your beloved husband murdered her for his games, his sports for pleasure," “Was that how she died?" I asked, panting heavy and steady. My mind tried to capture the despair she went through with him. “She took her own life," Zane replied. He shut his eyes and tilted dhis head backwards to restrain his emotions. “Laurel was my twin, the strongest being I had ever seen. How come she died while you, a puny fragile girl, survived?” He added a question “I don't know, the last thing I recalled before here was jumping. I don't know how I survived.” I responded. “I don't want another war with the Crescent pack. At dawn, I am sending you back to Chase.” Lucien decreed. “Please don't let me go back! Please, he would kill me.” “We can't break the peace treaty we had brokered with the Crescent because of you. So, try to rest easy. We leave at first light.” Zane responded. “Brielle? I hope you understand that tens of thousands of people's lives are on the line here. I can't put my pack in jeopardy.” Lucien explained. I opened my mouth to reply but there were no words. “I'm sorry for the trouble,” I apologized. Lucien lay down close to where the fire was while Zain looked troubled and restless. “You can't sleep like that,” Zane remarked as he came with the key to my chain to free me. “I never knew about your sister,” I spoke out, breaking the uncomfortable silence between us. “It wasn't public knowledge,” He replied as he tried removing the chain that was wrapped around the tree. “Did you find your true mate or was it Chase ?” He asked while he freed me. “No! Maybe I don't have or maybe I am just destined to be somebody's flesh bag.”I responded. He tied the chains around my hands and legs but it was more comfortable than being strapped to a tree. “What about you?” I asked. “Not yet but she's out there I can feel her close by every day.” He replied as he lay facing me. The look on his face was melting and his words came out heavy. “What about your brother? I heard the great Alpha Lucien is a killer who raped and wedded all the Lunas from all alphas he had butchered.” I uttered with a smile I had to put on to make the question less awkward. Lucien, who I had thought was asleep, scoffed at my statement. “I had a mate.” “Had?” I shot back cautiously. “And he doesn't go around raping or killing. It's just a lie spread by the Chase's pack of Alphas,” Zane stated. "Lucien refused to bow to the man that killed our sister but the treaty was made. We both stay out of each other way and Eclipse solely independent in its own," “So as you can see, I am…” Lucien got interrupted by roars coming from the woods. It sound was coming from all around us. “Wild beasts, I think the one we killed belonged to a pride!” Lucien panicked. They both stood up ready to fight against the pride of wild mountain lions that had surrounded us. “Brother! There are so many of them!” Zane exclaimed loudly. “Free me! I can help.” I voiced in a shaky tone. I was scared because the growls were getting closer. “Can you shape-shift ?” Lucien asked. “What?” I panicked “It's a full moon, Brielle! Can you shapeshift?” He blurted. “No! I can't!” I responded swiftly. “You are a grown werewolf and you can't shape-shift? How is that even possible?” Zane lashed out angrily. In an instant, both brothers' clothes ripped to pieces as fur came out from their flesh. Their palms turned into paws while their faces grew whiskers. They growled and roared in pain as I heard the sound of their bones breaking into pieces forming a wolf. They turned around to look at me with their blood-red eyes. Lucien appeared to be the black wolf while Zane was the wolf with the brownish fur. I was still admiring the amazing transformation of the alpha brothers when two mountain lions had a jump on us. It was a battle between savage beasts as the brothers tried to overpower the wild mountain lions. I tried to break loose from my chains but it was made too tight. I was still struggling with it when I heard a loud growl behind me. I turned to see red glowing eyes staring at me from the bushes. “Help!” I yelled as the wild beast ran to attack. It was about to pounce on me when Zane intercepted it mid-air. I was able to get my hands loose from the chain but my legs were still stuck. The mountain lion had overpowered Zane, biting all over him. It turned to me with its fierce blood-red eyes. I almost blacked out as my body began trembling. I closed my eyes as soon as I saw it coming to attack. I had accepted my fate but was shocked when I heard a loud squirm. I opened my eyes to see Lucien in front of me guarding me like an angel with the mountain lion slayed at its feet. I looked at his black beautiful fur and I felt drawn to it. It was like a spark within me was ignited when I placed my hands on it. My body felt electrocuted as soon as my fingers came in contact with him. His wolf form looked at me like he had felt the same shock I did. My heart began racing as sweat covered my body. I felt an undeniable pull to him like I had been searching for him all my life. In an instant, he transformed back into a human with his eyes widened and jaws dropped in shock. “What was that?” I asked, looking around confused. “How did you do that?” Lucien asked angrily. “I didn't do anything,” I responded, still confused by what had happened. “What happened?”Zane, who had also shape-shifted back into a human, asked. “Brother, what did she do?” “We just mate bonded,” He responded with eyes wide open in disbelief. “She can't be my mate,” Alpha Lucien doubted out loud.Lucien’s POV. I kicked the hospital doors open with my shoulder with the detectives hurrying in behind me.. Angelina was almost weightless in my arms, and her body cold and damp with her blood, a lot of it which had drenched up my shirt. Panic shot through me as i quickly laid her on the available stretcher. “Silver blade!” I blurted as one of the nurses came running up to me. “She has a deep stab wound to the stomach. She has lost too much blood, and she’s still—” “Sir, this way!” One of them urged. “We’ve got it.” Her fingers still barely clutched my shirt. Her lips were pale, cracked, and her face had gone cold. “I’ll stay with her.” I said, moving forward with them as they took her in, writing things down. “Please sir.” A nurse said, blocking my way. “We need space to take care of her. We promise to do everything we can.” I hesitated. “If she dies—” “She won’t die, but right now she’s in a tough spot. She needs every second now. It appears that she was ass
Lucien's POV.The body reeked of death and the air was chilly to the bones. From the scent and marks on the body, I could tell this one was different. His death took much time and precision, he was killed slowly. I stood beside Detective Rhea at the long table in the cold mortuary wing of the pack's police department, looking down at the newest victim. Another high-ranking wolf taken down like a prey. "This one is different from the rest of the murders." She said. I moved closer to it. The young male's body was a mess, his hands were purple, and had fingers that were crooked and swollen. "What's different about him?" I asked."Something about him must have made our killer take his time," "His fingernails were pulled out." Rhea said, voice low, almost mechanical. "One by one." I looked at the body, frowning."The killer is getting bold because this takes guts," "He was strangled after that, and there are tight ligature marks on the neck. Something strong and thin, pro
Brielle’s POV. Zane was still unconscious. He hadn’t moved, not even twitched or anything. breathing was shallow, and his skin was cold despite the thick blankets wrapped around him and the care he was receiving. I sat by his bedside, my hands trembling as I reached for his. I couldn’t bring myself to touch him at first, not because I didn’t want to, but because I was scared he’d disappear the very moment I did. “Zane.” I whispered, my voice cracking. “I’m so sorry.” Still, no response. Just the silence between us as the healers left. Lucien stood by the window, arms crossed, and he looked ready to kill. He hadn’t spoken in a while, not since they dragged Zane in and dumped the sack of heads on the floor. It was a disgusting sight. Those people had been fathers and husbands, and their lives had been ended so cruelly. “Lucien…” I finally spoke, barely able to meet his eyes. “Let me go back.” He turned slightly but said nothing. “I mean it.” I said louder this time. “Let
Zane's POV. The sorching pain woke me from the drowning darkness of my unconscious. I could feel my blood fighting the silver which was burning through my veins. I opened my eyes. Darkness, and then light. I blinked again, and the light settled. I was strapped to a chair. My arms were tied behind my back and my legs to each sides of the chair. I could feel something thugging my stomach, the sharp pain was endless. I took a look to see the knife still in me. Across from me, sprawled out on a wide, gold-accented bed with satin sheets, was Chase, and he wasn't alone. Dana, the girl I was with, laid on him. The same Dana who had said she only did what she had to do to survive. She was on top of him, naked, and riding him like he was her carriage to bliss. Her back was arched, and her soft moans floated around in the room while her hands dug into his chest. His hands gripped her waist tight, moving her on him with slow, lazy confidence like he owned her. My stomach turned. I k
Zane’s POV.Reign. That was what they called it. It was the “free city” for packs that had bent the knee to Chase and his rule. But it just sounded like a fucking joke to me. Nothing was ever free when Chase was involved. I got out of the car and looked up at the hotel they had reserved for us, this tall, shiny, and gold-tinted building. A five-star hotel in the middle of enemy land. I turned back to see my men who were already acting like we were on vacation, laughing and taking in the sweet smell of artificial freedom. They were foolish, I didn’t trust shit. “Mr Zane, sir.” The valet said with a bow. “Your rooms are ready. The girls will take your bags.” “The girls?” I frowned. And as if on cue, six beautiful women in red, beautiful dresses walked out of the hotel, each of them holding golden bowls filled with so much h fruit, grapes, cherries, pomegranates, you name it, they had it. “Welcome.” One of them purred, bowing low enough for her perfume to choke me, and fo
Brielle’s POV. Lucien stood by the window, crossing his arms. The way he stood so tensely, the worries in his mind could be sensed a mile away. He hadn’t said a word in almost ten minutes. The letter from Chase still sat on the table, mocking us with its silver seal. I still couldn’t breathe properly. My chest was too tight. “He’s summoning a meeting tomorrow.” Lucien finally spoke. "We have to device some sort of plan for this. One that stays just between us," I didn’t say anything, and neither did Zane. But then Lucien did say something that shocked me. “I’m not going there.” He said with a tone of finality. “What?” I asked him, shocked. Zane turned so fast I thought he’d break his damn neck. “You’re not what? What are you saying?” “I said that I’m not going.” Lucien repeated. “It’s obvious that that’s a trap.” Zane laughed."Oh, great. So now we’re just doing dumb shit out in the open? Is that what this is?” Lucien turned to face him. “Use your brain. Chas
