Chapter 4-Fired again?
Kate's POV: —-------- "I'm here. I guess everything is alright?" the Considerate Headmaid asked. I rushed into her room and frantically searched for my bag. "My bag, I have her medications inside. I need to return them to the hospital as soon as possible. The doctors want to see them," I explained as clearly as I could. "Here!" She extended her Generous hand and handed it to me. "Take this, my dear, you might need some money as well." 'Wow, I didn't expect that Compassionate gesture,' I thought. "Just keep it, you can pay it back when you receive your salary. I have enough on me now," she opened my palm and placed the money in it. "Now, run, don't forget to use the exit I showed you." "Where's the master? Has he looked for me?" I curiously asked, hoping to secure my job. "No! Nope! Not at all. He has gone out with his visitor, you know what, just go. I've got you covered." She Gently pushed me out. I wished I had met the same Kindhearted samaritan who had dropped me off earlier. I just can't run; I wish I could. I tried my best to jog but to no avail. My heart pounded Anxiously within my ribs. Luckily, a bus stopped by my side. I think the driver felt my Distressed state and couldn't have let me go any longer. "Hey, look at how you are tired. You should have been a Fit runner with this weight. Ha...ha..." an Insensitive guy I never knew laughed at me. I kept silent and didn't even look back to see him. He Rudely pulled my hair, and everyone laughed. I wished I could kick his Arrogant ass, but I had better plans ahead. "Don't touch her again," the Protective man who had dropped me in front of the house where I worked was also on the bus. "Try that again, and I promise to let you spend the rest of your life with a broken arm!" He sternly concluded. I didn't have time to ask him why he was on the bus, but as he got off, he just Kindly waved at me. When I reached the hospital, I rushed to the counter and dropped the medications. "Here, these are what you requested," The Puzzled nurses looked at each other. "Hey, this way. Aren't you Catherine's daughter?" The Attentive doctor I had met earlier called. "Sorry, I think I'm lost. He's the one I'm looking for," I begged and started packing the drugs back into my bag. "Due to time, you can pick one of each drug. It'll help the rest," one of them offered Helpfully. "Today has been a day of Kindness and Surprises," I told myself as I rushed to the doctor's office. "Calm down, dear. Calm down," he advised, but I still sat there panting like a Fatigued fish. "Breathe in...out...breathe in...1 2 3...let it out." He continued with the Soothing exercise until I calmed down. We sat there looking into our faces. His Attentive blue eyes moved and focused on his file, then his hand and pen followed. "Your mother is doing fine, but I'll need you to answer some questions before we go to see her," the doctor requested, and I nodded. He only asked me four questions, all about the medications and how I managed to obtain them. "These are not the types she should be taking; it's very Detrimental to her situation. It's a miracle she still survives on these antibiotics," he Complained and taught me about it. "Now, let's go see your mother," he added. She was laying there reading her book, her Favorite hobby. "Come give me a kiss, girl," she dropped the book and opened her arms Widely to receive me. I could not wait to embrace the Loving embrace; I ran to fall in between her two open arms. I listened to her heart beat, and it played a Soothing melodious beat. "First, how's work? You told me you'd be meeting the man today," she inquired. Her face changed at once when her Swollen cheeks sank in. Her Wrinkled features dropped back and streamed on her face. "Is he good?" "Yeah, Sir...no...Matt...yes...Sir...Sir...he's a kind and amiable person," I rested in the chair beside her and I answered. "Tell me more, I know you're intelligent and perceptive enough," I knew this woman would ask. She didn't want me to work under pressure. "He's exceptionally handsome and charmingly alluring, tall and slender. He has vivid, piercing eyes. Mom, you can't stare at his captivating gray eyeballs, for at times they seem to shift to a mesmerizing green and then back to the striking gray, and his lips are so adorably cute..." before I realized a book had landed on my face. She didn't hit me that hard but I was alarmed. "Ouch, why did you do that, Mom?" I touched the spot she had hit me. "That's not what I asked for, are you under the influence?" she asked sarcastically, "You are telling a completely different thing. I never asked for his physical appearance or physique. I mean, was he rude or what?" "And his height is just moderately average," I continued with what I had started earlier. "Oh my good gracious, hold me within. You are incredible...don't tell me you are already enamored with him, please." she teased and sat down to face me. "Love!? Mother!? I'm not in love with him, he is so discourteous and arrogant. You won't believe he turned down a beautiful, wealthy lady. He just told her he has no interest in her. I can't deal with such an egotistical person. No! Mom! No!" I highlighted it in a few seconds. "That's what billionaires do. They are arrogant and rude, but this time, I need you to cope with it. Just don't forget what I taught you. Controlling your emotions. They said I can go home today, it's already late, I want you to and end your work for the day. I'll be waiting for you in the house." She requested. As if she knew I had hoped to set my eyes on him for the last time before the day ends. I didn't tell her about the deal, "yeah, a deal is a secret." "Here, take this money," I offered gently. Her lips widened and her wrinkles stretched on her forehead. I didn't know if she was happy or sad as she held my hand and the money at a go. "I need to get going, it's getting late," I cried into her ears, left the money, and walked out. That face meant so much to me. I didn't want to see it sad. All I wanted for her is happiness, yeah, happiness and nothing much or less. On my way, I started to think about how my first experience had been and considered quitting but I needed money desperately from that silly contract I agreed to. All the way, I couldn't think of anything else aside from Matt and Angela. "How could Angela want such a handsome, wealthy guy all for herself? It doesn't happen. Such guys belong to billions of women, even me but I frantically know I don't deserve him..." "Hey, stand there, Lady!!" A loud, indistinct voice rocked at me in the tunnel where I needed to pass by all means, but I didn't even turn back to glance at the person. I just increased my speed! The person followed me at the same speed, it was getting darker and darker. We were the only people using that tunnel and no one else but I made sure to control my heart. Suddenly, a touch of light spectrums dispersed in the dim tunnel and I braked. "What are these ruffians going to do to me?" I wrestled with my conscience. Surprisingly, the unknown individual was busily running back when I turned around. "Hello, it's the police, don't be afraid!" The man holding the torch encouraged me. He was my surveillance for the night. In a few minutes, we reached the unusual, gigantic, beautiful house. "This is my..." I tried to let him know that we'd reached the house where I worked but he took matters into his own hands. "Home? Wow! You're so fortunate to be with the billionaire. I guess you're his wife. I'm Officer Pole, and I'm glad to render you my service." He burst into laughter and headed back. When I entered the house, I used the secret entrance Headmaid had shown me earlier, and to my surprise, Matt and his Headmaid stood right behind the door. "I'm sorry, he found out." The Headmaid broke her speechlessness. "You know what? You're fired!" Matt roared at me. My spirit left my body at that moment as I was shocked. I couldn't believe that was happening to me, yet it it seems I was still crushing on him the more.Chapter 45Kate's POV"Who is your father? Is that why you came here?" I winced at the question, not wanting to delve into painful memories. "I don't want to talk about it. Let's forget about it," I abruptly cut the conversation short, desperately needing some rest. I lay down silencing myself.Packer seemed even more worn-out than I were, trying to steal glances at me surreptitiously. Our eyes would meet, and then he would hastily divert his gaze to his tablet, pretending he wasn't watching me. Before I knew it, exhaustion overtook me, and I drifted off into sleep.NY City. Matt's Mansion----------------------The next morning, I found myself back in Matt's mansion; the new room he gave me. As I pondered on the events of the previous day, I couldn't believe I had been rescued. My life had taken an unexpected turn, all because of my own troubles. Lost in thought, a loud pounding on the door startled me. "Come in," I called out. It was none other than Matt, with his striking grey-dye
Chapter 44Matt’s Pov“I can’t track it any longer. I think the phone is off or something is wrong with it,” Antonio announced, “it keeps blinking. It is not stable and we can’t rely on it.”The more we got closer, the more she went further. We tracked her for so long and sometimes lost the signal. We were in the middle of a road, very far from Darren’s house, but thank goodness she was still with me.“I put a tracker on her,” Doreen said and pulled her phone to lead the way, “we can’t drive through this place, we can only walk.” She added. Not wasting much time, we started jogging as fast as we could. Reaching a place, howls of wolves were heard all over. I was afraid, but my gun kept me company. “Wait, guys!” Packer exclaimed, and picked a phone from his feet, “I found something.” It was Kate’s phone. I knew her phone and she decorated it with toy stickers. “Give it to me,” I snatched it from him, turned it on, and figured the battery wasn’t dead. Someone might have purposely done
Chapter 43 *********Kate’s Pov*********** This was a trip I regretted embarking on. I was here to find my Hero but it seems I came to fall in trouble rather. “What is wrong with you?” I asked the man who said he was my Hero, “Why did you lie to me?” I angrily asked him. “Shut up, I can’t be your lost boyfriend. I am not your hero nor have I heard of a person by that name.” he walked out, after receiving an alert on his phone, dropping mine on a box that he was standing behind. The place looked like a warehouse. I was tied up to one old forklift. Rusted cars, parts of machines, and boxes scattered all over the place and as dusty as shit! I could barely inhale and exhale, but I contrived little by little.“What do you want from me??” I asked the remaining bodyguards who stood around me, but none of them answered as if they didn’t speak English, “Get me some food, I am fucking hungry. Is this how you treat your dogs?” I inquired. For about a day and a half days, I was captured and
Chapter 42MATT’S POVRight after I noticed Kate was gone, I went to my mother’s house. Luckily, she had nowhere to go so she was home. “Stay out of my way!!” I yelled. I was extremely vexed and filled with hatred. The security figuring that out prevented me from entering the house, but it was a big mistake for them to try that as I punched one on his nose. Blood oozed from his nose as the others fell back pointing their guns at me.“If you move another step, I’ll shoot!” one of them warned. “Do you know me?” I asked, attacking him to collect his weapon while the others stood to watch. I shot in the air to waste his bullets, and to show them I was fucking serious and wasn’t ready to play games. My mother came to stand at the top of her building and yelled “Let him in,” after realizing I was eager to meet her.“What makes you so angry, Matt?” she asked, holding her glass of drink. Her face was painted as always.“What do you know about Kate’s attack!?” I angrily questioned. She too
CHAPTER- 41 *********The next day, when we had had enough talk and happy moments, Amanda wasn’t worried about her husband’s lost job. She said, “God knows the best,” she would smile after spewing out those words. Her husband was busy having a talk with the kids on the balcony and laughs and giggles were only heard. They were a very great family, I guessed. “Do you work?” she asked me.“Yeah, I work as a maid,” I whispered at the back of my voice and grinned. She did seem surprised, it seemed alright for her, and didn’t want to continue with that. Soon, we heard someone pounding at the door, “Are you expecting someone, sweetheart?” she asked her husband who was seriously playing with his kids and running after them. “No!! I am not.” Suddenly, her face changed as she walked up to the door to check on the person, “is everything alright, dear?” Jackson asked when he heard nothing again. He came around the sitting room and took a quick peep at the person who knocked. “Is everything a
Chapter 40 *********5 Days Later - Kate’s Pov *******************When the day was set for me to leave for Wales, I was somehow nervous but my mother cleared it away. She had given me some money I never expected, saying, “Take this money, it’s yours. You gave it to me when I was at the hospital,” she put it in n my bag, “Call the number immediately you reach there.” “Mom, I have enough, at least for days’ accommodation,” I said, placing the money on the table, picked my luggage, and set out. I got to the airport within an hour. I went solely, Cassandra was around and had not left for school. She was taking care of my mother so I didn’t need to disturb her so much. I sat idle and mouth shut in the plane as I kept thinking about what to do when I reached there. Besides, no one was coming to meet me. “Hello, I am Jack.” The man who sat beside me said, tucking
