AESPIA’S POV

Walking into the hall where the festival was hosted, I froze a bit when I noticed that the pack members were looking at me. No! They were always looking at me.

It was only that their gazes were weirder this time. They looked at me hatefully like they wanted to kill me. Some even began to murmur curses at me.

“Zyon, do you know what's going on?” I asked my wolf through our mind link.

“I'm not sure too. Forget them. You have to hurry to meet Enzo or he'll get angry again.”

I shivered and nodded before hastening my steps to where Enzo was. When I got there though, I froze as I noticed that he was not by himself. Instead he sat on a chair and his mistress and lover Dalia was lying in his embrace while a servant fanned her.

I furrowed my brows.

What was going on? Why was Enzo hugging Dalia in public? He cared about his image too much so he never did anything with Dalia in public same as he never beat me too. Only behind close doors.

“The bitch is here.” A pot bellied man I recognized to be a pack member suddenly spoke up immediately he spotted me.

Enzo looked up and then when his gloomy and dark gaze landed on me, I trembled in fear as my heart thumped loudly in my chest.

I know that gaze. It meant I did something terribly bad. What the hell did I do?

“How dare you try to kill my child?” he bellowed while glaring daggers at me, the pale looking Dalia craddled in his arms.

I choked and spluttered my eyes widening in fear. “I. Alpha. I don't know…” I started unconsciously not even processing what he said. I only wanted to defend myself before whatever it was escalated.

He cut me off. “Shut the hell up. Dalia is pregnant with my child. My very own heir. Thankfully she's fine now and nothing happened to her.”

I was sure my eyes were as wide as saucers now.

Dalia was pregnant for Enzo? So after everything, he eventually got the heir he wanted but from someone who wasn't barren like me?

A loud ringing noise erupted in my head and I swayed.

I shook my head to steady myself and then my hand shot to my mouth as a sob escaped my lips. I wanted to cry so badly but I held it back.

I had given up on our relationship but a part of me, a part I wasn't even aware of and one that I felt disgusted with, had apparently been holding on to hope that a miracle might happen but that delusion just shattered.

My fairytale just turned to reality.

“Enzo, how could you do this to me? How could you get her pregnant especially when I'm still your Luna?” I don't even know where the courage to speak was coming from.

Probably from the unwillingness to accept that I would now be completely useless to the man I used to love.

“How dare you raise your voice at me, bitch! Stop your ridiculous charade. Stop acting like you weren't aware when you obviously just tried to kill my child.”

When did I do all this? How did I try to kill Dalia's and her child when I didn't even know that she was pregnant.

Goddess!!

I was still shaken to the core about the fact that my husband had gotten someone else pregnant but I couldn't even dwell on it as I was being accused of what I didn't do.

He laid Dalia gently on the chair and then stood up before walking towards me. I inched back in fear only to stop when I realized he wouldn't dare do anything in front of the pack members.

Only I was so wrong as he suddenly grabbed at my neck squeezing tightly. My hand shot to my neck as I struggled and tried to remove his hand but it was of no use as he was stronger than me.

Just when I had begun to see spots and I thought I would meet the reaper, Enzo suddenly loosened his grip and then tossed me backwards harshly. I stumbled back a few steps.

I bent over and coughed, my lungs burning as I tried to suck in as much air as I could. When I could talk without hacking dryly, I looked up at Enzo my eyes blurring with unshed tears.

“Please Alpha. I didn't do it. I swear. I…”

“Oh shut it. Since you would like to play dumb, I'll reveal your true nature to everyone here today. If I hear another word from you till then, I'll make sure you die without even knowing what killed you” Enzo threatened and I gulped and kept shut. He then turned to look at his Beta, Francis. “Go get this witch's accomplish here.”

I stood frozen unsure of what the hell was happening but I was barely able to think about anything as a bloodied up woman was being dragged towards I and Enzo's direction by Francis.

He tossed the woman unceremoniously on the floor and when she slowly lifted her face, I gasped in shock and horror.

This was my personal maid, Amelia.

Dread immediately filled me when I saw that her eyes skirted around never looking directly at me.

“Everyone here is aware that Amelia here is the Luna's personal maid and closest confidant.” He looked around at the pack members and they all nodded. He then turned back to Amelia who was now trembling. “Repeat what you told me before.”

She bit her lip and eyed me from the corner of her eyes while shaking and anyone would think she was scared of me.

“What I can do to you is ten times worse than the Luna's wrath, I promise.” Enzo threatened.

“I'm sorry Alpha. I'll speak. It was Luna Aespia who asked me to add poison to miss Dalia's food. I… I… we never thought I would be caught so easily. I'm sorry your highness.”

I closed my eyed as a lone tear fell from my cheek. A piece of my already shattered heart broke once more. Asides Zyon, Amelia was another person I occasionally talked to when things got hard. I never knew she could betray me like this.

“Did you all hear that?”

The pack members began to murmur louder.

“Seriously? I thought she was only a lowlife. I never penned her out to be a murderer too.”

“Tsk. What do you know. Someone who was once a slave will do anything to retain her glorious position even if it means killing an innocent child.”

“Disgusting bitch.”

“I can't believe she tried to kill the Alpha's heir just because she's a barren tramp. She deserves to be stoned to death.”

Every word sent a shard into my heart. The same pack I had devoted myself into serving. The same pack members who had praised me once with a smile. Now all of them easily cast me away and condemned me without any hesitation.

I opened my eyes only to catch Dalia smirking at me while she tried to hide it from others.

My heart constricted in my chest.

I turned away from her to Enzo who was glaring at me now.

“Please Alpha. Even though she said that, there is no evidence to prove that I was the one who sent her. It's a ploy by Dalia to get…..”

Slap.

My face swept to the side as Dalia suddenly walked closer and slapped me.

“Why did you try to kill my poor baby. I was as nice to you as I could be. Why?” She wailed with fake tears and Enzo immediately hugged her to him while consoling her.

I just stood there, my heart shattering more every minute.

Goddess, why did you make my fate so cruel? Why are you making me suffer so much? Why did you make me barren? Why?

Tears streamed down my face as I looked up to the moon and cursed my fate.

Just why did I have to suffer so much?
