Chapter 47

SHE slowly blinked her eyes open only for it to close from the blinding light coming from the open window. She heard a slight movement and the darkening of the surroundings.

Chloe reopened her eyes and focused on the ceiling. She was laying down on something soft, and a smooth fabric was covering her from her torso below. Someone made their way to her side and she turned her head to look at them.

It was her friend, Jucel, who leaned to look at her and smiled down at her. "You're awake."

"Where am I?" Chloe croaked. Her throat was drier than she imagined.

Her best friend pushed herself from the bed and went to the sidetable where there was a glass of water ready. She helped Chloe up and handed the glass of water to her.

"We're still in Mineria Town. The villagers were saved from the Black Crescents after a year of under their control."

Chloe finished the glass of water and then handed it back to Jucel. "What happened to me?"
