Chapter 1

"Three days from now is your Millennium Awakening ceremony. Have you thought about which fiancé you want to marry?"

"No matter who you choose, we will have him inherit both divine systems and become the Supreme God who rules the entire Divine Realm."

Opening my eyes once more, two divine seals appeared before me.

They were the tokens of the two suitors my parents had chosen for me since I was a child.

One was Sol’s Seal of Light, and the other was Karnos’s Shadow Sigil.

In my past life, I loved Sol deeply and chose to marry him without a second thought, only to be tortured to death by him in the end.

Now that I’ve been reborn, I pointed to the other seal without a moment's hesitation: Karnos.

Since Sol is so unwilling to marry me, then this time, I will grant him his wish.

...

Three days before the Millennium Awakening, I strolled through the mortal marketplace.

The scent of roasted meat and mulled wine permeated the air, and merchants were shouting, hawking their wares.

Only by breathing in the mundane smoke and fire of the mortal world could I realize that I had truly been reborn.

I never expected to run into Sol and his brothers, the divine messengers.

Seeing my appearance, Sol’s brothers let out strange jeers.

"Sol, isn't this your little shadow? Why is she here?"

"It seems she really can't leave you for a single second. As soon as she heard you were in the mortal realm, she came looking for you on her own initiative!"

When Sol saw me, he immediately knitted his brows.

"Why are you here?"

In my previous life, his attitude toward me was always this impatient, as if he were treating the lowliest servant.

The ridiculous thing was, I didn't see his true face until the very moment I died.

I answered calmly: "The mortal realm belongs to all gods. I have the right to walk these streets."

Everyone’s expression turned to shock.

After all, everyone knew I had loved Sol since I was young and was practically at his beck and call.

This was the first time I dared to defy him in public.

Sol was also stunned, a look of disbelief on his face.

Right then, Lilith appeared.

She was wearing a plain white divine robe and looked pure and simple.

The moment she saw me, a flash of panic and fear crossed her face.

"Goddess Lyra, why are you here? Today is my hundredth birthday; Sol just wanted to celebrate with me. If you don't like it, I'll leave right now. Please don't let this affect your relationship."

As she turned to leave, she dramatically tripped.

Sol caught her instantly, his arms expertly encircling her with protective tenderness.

"Lilith, you are only her handmaid, not her slave," he said, his voice full of protective warmth. "You have no need to fear her."

Saying this, he shot me a vicious glare and said with dissatisfaction: "Do you see? Just because of your appearance, Lilith didn't even dare to celebrate her own hundredth birthday and almost sprained her ankle! And you still say you aren't here to cause trouble?"

Looking at their intimate posture, my heart felt no waves at all. "I have no interest in making a scene. I came here today just to clear my head. After all, three days from now is my Millennium Awakening ceremony. At that time, I will choose my eternal partner and govern the Divine Realm with him."

As soon as these words came out, Sol froze, only then remembering that my ceremony was approaching.

My father is the High Lord of the Sun system, and my mother is the Lady Sovereign of the Moon system.

They had chosen two suitors for me since childhood and declared that on the day of my Millennium Awakening, whomever I chose to marry would take over the authority of both systems and become the Supreme God.

The others didn't hesitate and began congratulating Sol one after another.

"Sol, it looks like you will soon inherit the authority of the Sun and Moon. Congratulations!"

"Once you control the entire Divine Realm, don't forget about us!"

Sol's expression softened quite a bit, but looking at the "pitiful" Lilith in his arms, he still glared at me and warned: "Even if you marry me then, don't even think about bullying Lilith. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind letting tragedy repeat itself!"

Let tragedy repeat itself?

My heart jolted. I didn't expect Sol to say something like that.

Could it be that he has also been reborn?

Sol didn't wait for my response. He picked Lilith up in his arms and strode away, leaving me standing alone in the crowded market.

I watched their retreating backs, a cold smile surfacing at the corners of my mouth.

Go ahead, Sol. Enjoy your freedom to your heart’s content.

Because this time, the person I choose will definitely not be you.

Soon, the day of the Grand Messenger Assembly arrived.Just as Sol was pinning everything on Lilith, accusing her of having mental issues and hallucinating a relationship with him—The crystal mirror of the temple suddenly lit up, broadcasting footage recorded by a memory crystal. It showed various intimate scenes between Sol and Lilith!Sol’s face changed immediately, and he cut off the magic energy at the first opportunity.Unfortunately, it was too late. The discussions among the messengers rose like a tide; everyone had seen those unsightly images.Sol felt a bad premonition; he knew his crimes had been exposed. In the next second, the Enforcers of the Divine Realm suddenly burst into the assembly, holding the Sword of Judgment."Sol, you are accused of multiple crimes including abuse of divine power, betrayal of a marriage contract, and harming a goddess. The evidence is irrefutable. You are now being taken to the Temple of Judgment for sentencing!"Sol collapsed to the ground, hi

"No! This is impossible!"Seeing Sol conclude a covenant with me, Lilith shrieked. She had originally thought she would become the Divine Queen everyone envied. But she never expected that the object of Sol’s covenant wasn't her, but me!"Sol! There must be a mistake! Lyra betrayed you long ago and chose Karnos as her eternal partner! You should be concluding the covenant with me!"Lilith grabbed Sol’s arm tightly, hoping he would change his mind.Sol, however, was furious."What nonsense are you talking? Lyra choosing Karnos was just her throwing a tantrum with me! Only she is qualified to be my eternal partner. As for you, you’re just a handmaid from Lyra’s temple. Does someone of your lowly status think they’re worthy of concluding a covenant with me? In your dreams!""Lowly handmaid?"Lilith’s face turned pale instantly, and she couldn't help but start shouting."Sol, what do you mean? Didn't you say you never looked down on my status as a servant and felt I was the one who deserve

My eyes grew hot. I didn't expect him to still be thinking of me even now.I gave Karnos a sudden hug."Don't worry, I stopped liking Sol a long time ago. Since I chose you, you are my husband forever. This is my decision."Karnos’s body stiffened. He asked, "Aren't you afraid of regretting it?""Never!"Hearing my resolute answer, Karnos hugged my waist tightly, finally revealing his possessiveness over me."Lyra, you’d better remember what you said today.""Once you marry me, don't even think about leaving my side."After parting with Karnos, I returned to the Sun Temple.Just as I arrived outside, I found it already surrounded by divine messengers, looking very lively."I heard a god is going to conclude a Holy Covenant here today! Is it true?""Of course it's true! This god even invited messengers from the entire Divine Realm to witness it! It looks like the vows will be made under the gaze of the Creator!""Heavens, how sacred. I wonder which lucky goddess is about to conclude an

Soon, Sol was taken away, and the temple fell silent once more.My parents presented the scepters symbolizing the two great divine systems to Karnos."From this day forward, you are the ruler of the Sun and Moon systems. We hope you do not fail Lyra; otherwise, we will never let you off."Karnos looked at me deeply and said earnestly, "I will never fail Lyra. Even if it costs me my life, I will protect her until the end."My heart gave a fierce throb. If any other god had said such things, it would likely be nothing more than sweet talk. But I knew Karnos was telling the truth. In my past life, when I was about to be tortured to death by Sol, it was Karnos who stormed into the temple to take me away.He had held me and found the best healing messengers to resuscitate me.But I still died in the end.The moment my soul left my body, I became a wandering spirit floating in mid-air.I thought everything would end there. But I saw Karnos in a state of absolute grief. He held my corpse, and

I reached out my hand without a moment’s hesitation and said to him with a smile, "I am willing."Karnos seemed to let out a sigh of relief as he slipped the ring onto my ring finger.I wasn’t sure if it was just my imagination, but as the notoriously cold and ruthless Karnos put the ring on me, his hands were actually trembling slightly. All the gods below the stage witnessed this scene, their faces masked with utter disbelief."What’s going on? Isn't the husband Lyra chose supposed to be Sol? Why is it Karnos?""Oh my God, this has to be a mistake! Everyone knows Lyra is head-over-heels for Sol. She’s sworn since she was a kid that she’d never marry anyone else. Why would she suddenly choose to marry a different god at her Awakening? And the Shadow Sovereign Karnos, of all people!""Damn it, if Lyra chose someone else, then how did Sol have the nerve to accept all those gifts earlier?"A group of gods whispered among themselves, their gazes falling once again on Sol.The gods who had

Seeing Karnos appear, the people around looked on with awe, instinctively taking a few steps back.Even Sol was stunned, a flash of fear crossing his eyes. After all, everyone knew how cruel Karnos's methods were. But thinking that he would soon inherit the authority of the Sun and Moon, he suppressed the wariness in his heart and shouted: "Karnos, by what right do you stop me?"Karnos had no intention of answering him, only glancing back at me."How are you?" His body carried the pressure of a superior, and his tone was very cold. What seemed like a casual inquiry made my heart tremble.I thought of the time I had a difficult labor in my previous life. Sol had transferred away all the healing messengers and locked me in the temple to wait for death. When I was about to die, it was Karnos who broke into the temple and forcibly took me away for treatment.Unfortunately, I still died in the end...Everyone said Karnos was a terrifying devil, but in my eyes, he was the only warmth I had b
