Natalie stepped into the bare, echoing space that would soon become her studio. The smell of fresh paint lingered in the air, mingling with the faint traces of sawdust from the newly installed shelves. Fiona was already there, animatedly gesturing toward the far wall where she envisioned a display of crystal perfume bottles.

“This,” Fiona declared, pointing to a corner bathed in sunlight, “will be your mixing station. Natural light, perfect for inspiration.”

Natalie gave a small smile. This motivation was.... New.

Anita, Natalie’s efficient PA, was deep in conversation with two interior decorators—both of whom Natalie had hired on Fiona’s recommendation. They were debating fabric swatches for the curtains, their voices rising and falling like an odd background melody.

"You took quite long" Esmeralda drawled sprawled across the couch in the hotel room Viktor had rented for them both. Isolde also known as Isabella stood across from her, her face expressionless and stoic. it was why she liked her. She didn't ask unnecessary questions and did what was ordered. "We didn't get invited until much later, ma'am" she responded politely. "Esmeralda brows raised. "Really?" she sighed. "so what have you got? " she asked. "Nothing much, as it was only the first meeting. But I believe there's a bit of tension between both of them. They seem to quite agree on anything. And... " she trailed off. Esmeralda rolled her eyes. "What are you looking forward to? continue" she prodded. "Natalie's venturing into her own business. A perfume enterprise. Apparently she's planning to enter into a competition to get funds to finance her business." she said. Esmeralda's ears perked up at that. "Did you say business? With all the De Luca fortune? she still finds i

Natalie froze, one hand still clutching her bag strap. She turned slowly to face him. “Questions?” she repeated, her tone clipped. “Or accusations? Tell me Lorenzo, what was the purpose of this meeting? To humiliate me? Because I don't see why you would invite my aunt here without my permission." she said, eyes flashing with visible annoyance. Lorenzo’s expression was deceptively casual, but his eyes—those cold, assessing eyes—pinned her in place. He stepped closer, his presence swallowing the space between them. “Don’t play games,” he said softly, almost a whisper, though the weight of his words pressed heavily on her. “You never mentioned this… competition. You never told me you quit your job. In my company. Yet you parade it at my family’s table? What was that, Natalie—defiance? Or stupidity? There should be an explanation for that" he said. "Explanation?" she almost didn't believe her ears. "Tell me, explain to me how you'd go from accusing my aunt and her daughter of the wor

She sat down beside him, carefully examining his features. She wanted to find out what he was thinking, but his face was an unreadable mask. Her aunt was gushing, seemingly excited. Isolde just sat beside her with an indifferent look. Leila wasn't at the table and inwardly Natalie was grateful for that. Lucian was seated also. Together with Lorenzo's parents. "I'm so honored to be here, " her aunt began "and I'm just glad you're taking care of Natalie . She's hard a terrible time growing up. This is a welcome change from where she's used to." her aunt said. Natalie cringed as she remembered her childhood. So much trauma.Madame de Luca smiled tightly. It was obvious she didn't take well to her aunt. Natalie was slightly worried. She needed they to like her. Aunt Zulu was the closest thing to a family that she had left. She thought back to Lorenzo's words but shook it off. Her aunt would never do anything bad to her. She adored her. She couldn't say much for Isolde because she wa

"Just say what a this is all about, I don't have time for games.," she said. He kept his gaze fixated on her. "when were you planning on telling me about my warehouse? " he said. She couldn't read his tone. she has no idea how he was feeling and how best to approach him. She scoffed instead. "You knew already, was there any need to start explaining. You obviously know of everything I'm planning. You're just waiting to pick up after me." she said .. "was that your excuse? " he said. Natalie rolled her eyes. "is there supposed to be anything else? " she asked. He said nothing for a while. Then suddenly he was closer towering over her. "I'd expect the utmost transparency from you. I'm letting you get away with so much freedom to make up for the way you were married but please don't test my patience. It's very limited." he paused, then continued. "I understand you don't like me, you don't have to pretend that you do but I'd appreciate it if you kept a small atom of r

Natalie leaned back in her chair, considering. “The company still owns an old production studio in the city. It’s small, but it’s… perfect. No one will look twice at it." Fiona arched a brow. “Except maybe Lorenzo’s people. You really think you can slip under his radar?” A slow smile touched Natalie’s lips. “If I’ve learned one thing about my husband, it’s that he doesn’t look where he thinks there’s nothing worth finding.” Fiona whistled. “Dangerous game, Nat.” “Everything with him is a dangerous game,” Natalie murmured, fingers tightening around her mug. "Or I can just tell him to give me the space. it's not as if he'll use it for anything. I confronted him about my inheritance the other day. He knows what I can do. I doubt he'll be surprised." she said. Fiona looked at her and smiled. "Yh. Even if he doesn't know. I know what you can do. You're Natalie afterall." she said with a chuckle. For a brief moment, the two women were silent, the hum of the espresso machine fillin
