Unable to leave my bed, I kept staring at the door, thinking about how to escape whatever Arianna and Alpha Harrison would throw at me. Arianna would definitely do everything to make my life miserable, and I might never be able to avoid it. There was another knock, and I shifted uncomfortably on the bed, imagining it to be Lady Selina. “Mira, it's me.” Raina’s voice came, making me calm. “Come in.” Raina walked in with her arms folded. She sat on the chair Alpha Sorren had just sat in. I hoped that she wouldn't catch his scent and then question me about it. “Look, I'm sorry.” She said, making me surprised. “I only reacted like that because I was jealous.” I almost forgot the pressing issue before Alpha Sorren came to deliver more bad news. “Because Justin told me to clean instead of you?” I asked, and her face flushed in embarrassment. That was the only thing I could think of since things went wrong at that time. “Yes.” She rolled her eyes, taking a deep breath. “He's kinda like my mate?” “Tell me more.” I blushed, adjusting my position on the bed to listen to more gossip that had nothing to do with me. Raina talked my ears off about Justin and how in love they were. Apparently, Justin had always been the nicest guy in the pack to her, and somehow, they started dating. “What are we doing for the evening?” I asked Raina who took a deep breath. “We have to clean, and then we'll assist those in the kitchen. Our job is mainly to clean.” She muttered. “I'll call you if we're going to be doing that.” I nodded calmly. Alpha Sorren gave me a home, and better still, a friend without even telling her about it. The evening came and we did what we were supposed to do, ensuring that everyone in the pack had enough to eat. We were dismissed to rest before we'd have to cook again for whatever reason they mentioned. I was too absent minded to listen to what anyone had to say. I had my bath again, and Raina cleaned my hair for me while I imagined what I'd do next. “I think you'd look beautiful in braids.” Raina suggested gladly. I was uncomfortable about it, unsure if my hair had healed enough. “What's wrong?” She asked. “You need to trust my hair braiding skill.” “My scalp is a little scarred.” I muttered, remembering the moment all hell was let loose on me. “My sister poured some wolfsbane and oil on it when I was young.” “What the fuck?!” Raina growled angrily, checking out my scalp. Her growls made me stop feeling sad for myself as she was so pissed off. “I hope that sister nearly saw heaven?” Raina asked, looking at me through the mirror. I slowly shook my head, pinning my gaze to the floor. “What?!” Raina yelled, walking to sit on the desk. Her weight wasn't totally on the desk because it wasn't so strong, and I'd have heard the straining sound from the bolts that held it tightly to the wall. “What do you mean by that?” Raina asked. “My father didn't punish her.” I sighed. “I was punished for it instead.” Tears welled up in my eyes as I spoke about it. Raina was busy growling, and I could see that she was terribly annoyed. “I'm so sorry about that.” Raina said, patting me on the back. “Alpha Sorren told me that the Stone Creek pack is coming here.” I said, and Raina sighed. “So, that's what he was doing in your room.” Raina said and my eyeballs widened. “What?!” I was flustered. “Be calm.” Raina dismissed gently. “I know everything that happens around here, and I caught his scent when I sat on that chair.” “Oh…” I muttered. “What about the Stone Creek pack?” Raina asked, and I looked up at her. “She's with them.” I said , and a mischievous smirk overtook Raina’s lips. “I promise to take revenge for you even if it's in a little way.” She assured me. I was going to ask her not to, but I felt a very sharp pain in my head as I tried to. I could hear the sound of my heart beating against my chest. It was so loud that it affected every other of my senses. I saw Raina’s lips moving as she touched my body and tried to shake me back awake. But the headache was so strong and overwhelming that the last thing I saw was myself falling to the ground. I blacked out. When I woke up, I could see someone hovering over me. It wasn't Raina because her hair wasn't dangling in my face. It wasn't Alpha Sorren either. Slowly, although I was bothered, I sat on the bed with his help. There was a kit on the bed, and I saw that Raina was also by my side. “Are you okay?” Raina asked, hugging me. My eyes caught the doctor who cleaned his face with a handkerchief. “You were out for so long, I was very scared.” Raina sighed, breathing really hard. “What… What… happened?” I asked, feeling light headed. “We were having a normal conversation, and you just blacked out.” Raina said. “I just got here, and I checked you out already.” The doctor said, “You just need to rest.” “So, nothing special happened to me?” I asked, thankful that I was breathing. “Nothing special. Eat, and rest.” He repeated, packing his tools. Raina hugged me again like she'd have lost an organ if anything else had happened to me. “It took so much time to get the doctor because he was with Alpha Sorren.” Raina muttered, and I was immediately alarmed. “Is Alpha Sorren okay?” I asked, feeling worried. “He is.” Raina chuckled. “The world would have ended before anything hurts Alpha Sorren.” I felt better as she spoke. She made me coffee and was going to tuck me to bed when there was a knock on the door. “Who's there?” Raina asked. “Everyone, move downstairs!” A sweet voice came through. I already knew what time it was. Raina stared at me, and I looked back with fear in my heart. “This is the Pinnacle pack, and no one can hurt you here.” Raina assured me. I stood with her and we headed downstairs. It felt like nothing had happened to me earlier and I just had a deep sleep. I didn't feel tired in any way. When we got downstairs, Alpha Harrison and a very pretty lady that had her gaze fixed on someone on the front row walked in. Arianna was right behind them, looking around. She had gotten prettier, which was most likely directly proportional to how evil she'd have gotten. My heart started beating fast as they all came in. I had a very bad feeling about this uncanny alliance. Raina and I intertwined our fingers, and it made me feel a little confident. Eventually, Arianna’s eyes caught mine, and a smirk appeared on her face. “Hey bitch.” She mouthed , and then winked at me, making fear strike through my heart.Sorren’s POV I walked around the room as Mark took care of Mira. We were about to leave the library when she suddenly changed. She had been stabilized, but Mark hadn't found a root cause for whatever was happening to her. “Alpha.” Khalid muttered, walking into the room. “What is it?” I asked, walking closer to him. “Lady Selina wants to see you.” Khalid muttered. I glanced at Mira’s body on the bed, wondering how she was feeling. Earlier, I just couldn't take the thought that someone else had made her laugh. It made me feel weird. I turned to look at Mark, who was checking her out. “Send me an update as soon as she's fine.” I demanded. “I will, Alpha.” he growled, and I left the room with Khalid. My mind was drawn to Nia and the dilemma she was apparently in. “What do you think I should do?” I asked, folding my arms as I slowed down my pace. Khalid took a deep breath, very knowledgeable about my relationship with Nia and how vulnerable I seemed to be around her. “Whatever
Mira’s POV I watched Alpha Sorren drag Luna Nia away. Knots formed in my stomach, and I felt like vomiting at the sight, but I remained calm. I took the book I was reading the last time, and thankfully, I still had my pencil on me. I found a place to sit, wondering what business Alpha Sorren had with Luna Nia. I was using my pencil to continue what I was doing. I didn't realize that Khalid had crept in on me and was standing right behind me. “What are you drawing?” His voice jolted me, causing me to jump. The book flew out of my hands, and the pencil fell. Khalid chuckled as I grabbed the book and hugged it. “I'm sorry.” I muttered fearfully.“No, I'm sorry.” Khalid chuckled, walking closer. He had his seat beside me. “I startled you. What are you drawing?”I swallowed hard, unsure of what to say as I could be punished. “I'm sorry.” I muttered. “I can erase everything I've drawn.” “No, Mira.” Khalid rolled his eyes, making himself comfortable beside me.He stretched out his hand
Sorren’s POV I spent the whole night on guard since the hunters didn't come close. Thankfully, Selina was at peace with me, nor bothering about the stupid words Harrison had uttered. My mind was filled with chaos, moving from Selina to Nia to Mira. Mira had the most time in my headspace. I was annoyed that she'd let her younger sister trample on her that much that she was so scared of her. “Alpha? Do you think the hunters would be back?” Peter asked, jolting me out of my thoughts.“Well, I think so.” I sighed, folding my arms. “If they don't attack tonight, it'd be because they know of Harrison’s presence.” “So, what do you want us to do?” Khalid asked, awaiting instructions. “I'll figure it out.” I said, like my mind wasn't already filled with thoughts of three women.“I'll stay on guard, Alpha.” Khalid whispered to me. “You should get some sleep.”“I will. I just need some fresh air.” I sighed.“Is it because Luna Nia is here?” Khalid asked, and I shot him a glare, forcing him
Mira’s POV Alpha Sorren looked disturbed, although my current dilemma was being at that table, and the most horrible comment Alpha Harrison had made that'd probably put me in a lot of trouble with Lady Selina. “I'd like to excuse myself from the table to check out a situation.” Alpha Sorren growled, leaving the table. I started shaking my leg nervously as I stared at the food on my plate, unable to eat it. I thought about leaving since Alpha Sorren had headed out, but my legs were too weak. My knees kept shaking, and I couldn't even try to stand. “So, what do you think about the meal?” Lady Selina asked Alpha Harrison who chuckled and gave interesting compliments. I maintained eye contact with Arianna for a few seconds until Alpha Sorren walked back in. “It was a false alarm.” He said, taking his seat. He looked disturbed, but everyone kept eating. After what felt like an eternity of stirring food endlessly, I eventually left the table, and I ran straight to my room. I could h
Sorren’s POV The faceless Luna made my skills look like a joke. I spent every sword strike trying to keep my head safe from all her attempts to kill me. She barely spoke a word and disappeared into nothing after almost killing me countless times. I had Mark, the Pack’s doctor , check out some of the injuries I sustained because they refused to heal as fast as every other wound. “I need to see whatever is doing this, because it doesn't seem normal any longer.” Mark sighed, shaking his head. And now, Alpha Harrison and a part of his pack stood before me. Nia was right beside him, and I couldn't help but look at her.“Alpha Sorren!” Harrison chuckled. “Thank you for letting us stay in your pack.” “Don't mention.” I responded.“You don't have to be so cold.” He rolled his eyes, moving over to hug Selina. Nia moved closer, looked in my eyes as she pulled me in for a hug like her mate had done with Selina. “Don't touch me.” I growled softly so that she'd be the only one to hear. She
