Chapter 1

Samantha (Sam)'s POV

Dream

I was in a dark forest not knowing where to go every turn I take would only lead me farther into the darkness. I finally choose a path of which to take, as I walk, I feel like something is following me. So, I start to quicken my pace, but as I go faster it also quickens its pace.

I was so scared, so I started to run. I ran and ran until it felt like I was running in circles. Then I finally got to a dead end. I saw whatever was following me was getting closer. I thought I was going to die when everything around me started to fade.

End of Dream

I woke up, I was scared shit less to the point I was shaking. I checked my alarm, it was 3:00 am. I knew that wouldn't be able to go back to sleep. So, I decided why not get some work done. As the omega of the Blue Rose Pack, I had lots of chores to do before everyone started waking up.

I got out of my makeshift bed. I lived in the attic of the pack house. I quickly wore one of my worn-out clothes and shoes.

I started with cleaning all the rooms and spaces that no one was in, then started to cook breakfast with the food provided from the day before. If there was any leftover I would do that, but only once or twice a week.

By the time I was done, most of the pack was up. I was on my way to leave when I bumped into my brother, aka the Alpha.

"Get from me you piece of trash." He said as fell to the ground. "Sorry Aiden, er I mean Alpha," I answered, I knew I was going to be in so much trouble for calling him by his name.

"What did I tell you're a piece shit, you dare to call me by my first name." He slapped me then punched me to the ground, "Apologize! Now!" He screamed

"I am so sorry Alpha; it will never happen again."

"It better not. Bring me my food"

It has always been like this ever since my parents died trying to protect me. I was only a baby, so I did not know what happened. All I had from them was my mom's necklace, but when the pack found out they took it away before I could hide it. I was devastated but I kept being strong for my parents.

When I finished all my morning chores, I snuck out of the pack house and watched the warrior's train

As the omega of the pack, I was not allowed to train they say and I quote, 'You are weak, you will only bring us down if we were to fight against a threat.'

Every day after my chores I would watch them train. I do not go to school because as the smartest wolf around my age, I jumped up a few grades, so I graduated at the age of 15 as valedictorian, and now that gave people more of a reason to abuse me. I am now 17 and tomorrow is my birthday, the day I will shift, and the day I will find my mate who will save me from my pack.

I watched as the warriors trained doing my best to imitate them without mistakes. That is how I spent the rest of my morning until it was time to do my chores.

I woke up this morning to a bucket of freezing water being poured on me. It happened to be one of the pack warriors.

"Wake up, freak you have to clean the pack house from top to bottom without leaving a speck of dust the Alpha King will be here early tomorrow we don't want him to see a stupid person like you in front of him, it would be an insult to him."

I got up and went to change. I knew today was going to be a long one with no breaks in between. I started from the Alpha's floor. It was a mess, it was like they wanted me to work until tomorrow, but then again, they hated me, and might as well do their worst.

I spent over 3 hours doing only the Alpha's floor, I knew I had to be quick otherwise I would be punished. I was able to do every room in the pack house by 7:00 in the evening.

I went back to my room. I jumped up, just remembering today is my birthday.

"Wow, happy birthday to me," I remembered I baked some cupcakes the day before and hid them in a mini fridge in the pantry.

I snuck out of my room making way to the kitchen when I smelled this amazing scent of pine trees and river mixed making the most amazing odor I have ever scented. I followed it to the kitchen and there I saw him, the Beta of the pack, Matthew aka Alpha Aiden's best friend.

When I got to the kitchen, we whispered at the same time the word I have been wanting to hear, "Mate"

"How can I have such an ugly and weak mate? I'm a Beta the second most powerful rank in a pack, I can't have her as my mate."

"How can you say that, we were destined to be together? The Moon Goddess Artemis did it for a reason you can't say that!"

"Well, I don't care I, Matthew Adams, Reject you, Samantha Emilia Parker, as my mate and Beta Female of the Blue Rose Pack."

He said the words that any mate dreaded to hear, the words said during the rejection process. The bond was broken and hurt like hell, but I didn't want to give Matthew the satisfaction of breaking me so I did the most logical thing to do, I accepted it. If I want to move on, I have to accept the fact that I am rejected.

"OK, then I, Samantha Emilia Parker accept your Matthew Adams rejection."

After I said those words, Matthew fell to the floor groaning after I finished severing the bond.

After that, I knew I had enough of this pack. I took my degree and packed a small suitcase of clothes, shoes, and other necessities. I decided to write a note not that anyone would mind if I lived, died, or ran away.

Dear Pack (or anyone who is reading this)

I decided that I had had enough. I don't hate you but for my own sake I have decided to run I know you will live a better life without so though you treated me badly I still wish you all the best

P.S: to my mate, though you rejected me I hope you will find someone who will make you happy because I know I could never fulfill that role for you

With that, I took my suitcase and ran. I made sure to cover up my scent and not come across patrols. Once I crossed the border, I cut all ties with the pack.

As I ran, I came across a few pack territories. As I passed a particular pack, I ran into security, patrolling the pack territory, one in particular caught my eye. As I made eye contact, I felt something pass between us, but I was so scared for my life that I thought of it as nothing and ran until I found a safe place to hide until the patrol left and I was left alone. As I left, I took one last look and left.

I ran and ran until I was in a human town. I walked to a hotel and paid for a room. My parents made a separate account for me with 3 million dollars in case anything happened to me.

There are so many problems I have to deal with but I was so tired that when my head hit the pillow I was out.
