I stared at my dad in disbelief as his words echoed in my head. Before me was a steaming cup of cappuccino which I had ordered minutes ago.

“Vampires?” I asked, the words making my stomach churn. “I thought they were just a myth?”

My dad sipped his coffee before he answered.

“Oh, they are real, son. Vicious creatures and slippery ones too.”

My eyes fell to my plate of pancakes and the cappuccino. My appetite was gone.

Vampires. They were real. I had heard stories about them when I was young but I never paid much attention to them. If they were real, that means there was a whole list of supernatural beings that were real.

“What about Bigfoot? Is he real?” I asked.

“Well, he isn’t. So you don’t have to be worried,” my dad joked before taking another forkful of pancakes.

My eyes drifted to the window beside me. The late morning sun washed in, bathing everything in its bath. My eyes were on the black Impala outside. What else could be real?

“Did you ever find them?”

AnnaThe smell of antiseptics hit me as I stepped into the hospital. Nurses were roaming the premises in shrubs. Some held folders, while the others carried syringes and other equipment. I looked lost as I stood in the lobby watching them. My heart was thumping hard against my chest as anxiety flooded me. First-day jitters. A nurse walked up to me. She was wearing navy blue scrubs and had a notepad in her hands. There was a cheap smile on her face and her silver eyes were planted on me as she approached. “You must be Anna?” She asked. I nodded subtly. “Great. Caroline told me you were coming,” she said looking at her notepad. “And you’re quite earlier than I imagined.”I didn’t say anything. Her silver eyes raked me tentatively. She had pale skin with high cheekbones. Her hair was tucked under a bonnet so I couldn’t tell what color it was. But there was a certain elegance about her that made my stomach churn in envy. “I’m Rebekah, by the way,” she said, stretching out her hand t

RohanIt was like a living nightmare. The darkness, the dead bodies that littered the ravine, and the putrid stench that crowded the air. It was like we were in a Supernatural episode. I gulped as I flashed the beam across the ravine, discovering more bodies each time I swung the flashlight. The sight made my stomach twist. I couldn’t handle this much longer. And I had seen worse. Trust me. “It looks like this place has been here for years,” Jarred said. “I bet you if we draw out a list on missing persons in Greeley, their bodies will definitely be here,” I said taking a step forward. I heard a snapping sound and I halted. I pointed the flashlight at my foot and saw a skeleton underneath it. My foot had crushed the right rib cage. I hissed in disgust as I pulled my foot away. “What are we going to do?” Jarred asked. The very question that I had no answer to. I rubbed my chin and stared at the bodies. The night was getting old, and this was the only lead we had. But something was

RohanThe headlights swarmed me as the car came to a stop behind me. I heard the engine shut off and the car door next. I turned around and found Jarred walking towards me. “Please tell me you’re not about to do something crazy,” he said. I shoved my hands in my pockets and stared at the gates behind me. The searchlights in a 360 radius as the guards scanned the area for any intruders. The truth was, they weren’t going to find anything. Nobody had ever come this close. Not since the incident. “I am going, Jarred. And I want you to come with me,” I said gently. He rubbed his chin as he stared at me. There were words he wanted to say, but he withheld them. “Look, Rohan. I know you are Alpha and all, but don’t you think this is irrational?” He asked. “Harrison and Hansel already said that they won’t be back for about a week or two.”I began walking to my car. It seemed he had made up his mind. “They will be back, Jarred. I know this,” I said, opening the car door. “And if you don’t

RohanI glared at Anna as she sat across from me. She was trembling and found it hard to keep eye contact. Jarred's decision to let us sit and talk was a bad idea, but there was nothing I had to say to her. Even though my head was buzzing with questions. “What are you doing here?” I heard myself ask. Anna’s eyes came up to mine. Her lips quivered as they parted but no words came out. “I was the one who brought her here,” Stella said. My gaze drifted to her. “Why?”“Because I wanted to check it out,” she replied. “I start here first thing tomorrow.”Jarred raised an eyebrow. “You’re a bartender?”Stella shrugged, the smile on her face not wavering. “Mrs. Caroline told me I could start tomorrow.”Jarred’s gaze found mine. “My mom gave you a job?” I asked. Stella nodded, staring at me. She didn’t look intimidated the way Anna was. Her confidence was refreshing, clearing most of the doubts in my head. From the way her eyes glowed when she spoke, you could tell that she was tellin

Damon “Shit!” I yelled in rage, slamming my hand on the steering wheel. My dad sighed in frustration in the passenger’s seat. “Maybe we didn’t think this through,” he said. I clenched my jaws and I felt the rage swarm in my chest. We were stuck in the middle of nowhere. “I thought you knew the way to the Crescent pack?” I asked. He shrugged his shoulders. “I haven’t been there in years, plus I have only been there once,” he replied. “With the way you were in a hurry, I thought you knew the way.” I slapped my forehead in frustration. We were both running out of time and gas. We weren’t going to find the Crescent pack in time. And the only person who knew where they were was Mom. Ang sha wasn’t going to tell us. My chest was swollen with rage and unspoken words. I could feel a stinging pain in my throat like hot lava. I swung the door open and stepped out, yelling in rage. The birds flew from their nest towards the morning sun. I ran my fingers through my hair wondering
