Syria’s POV

I was completely caught off guard when Uncle suddenly barged into my room.

“Give me your fucking phone.”

Before I could even pick it up, he grabbed my wrist roughly and yanked me to my feet.

He didn’t give me a chance to protest.

When his hand finally closed around my phone, he pulled it free and held it up.

“You’re not going to use this anymore,” he said.

His tone was cold and final.

“You’re banned from using your phone to contact the outside world.”

I swallowed hard, wanting so badly to ask him what was happening, but I knew it wouldn’t matter.

My head felt heavy, my body exhausted. I was still worn out from everything that had happened lately, especially Grandma’s death.

I hadn’t even begun to process it all, and now this.
