Chapter 3: A Gift From Mother

CL Chapter 3 A Gift From Mother

“Tae, what’s going on?” I questioned, keeping the silver blade instantly back in the ark and getting up instantly. My heartbeat escalated, making me hear them in my ear like a drum. Is the silver knife my mom left me?

“Princess, it’s for your safety. Please keep the knife with you.” She requested, keeping her distance from the ark. Pleading me with her eyes. I left the knife over the ark and walked towards the window further.

The air from the room got dense immediately, making breathing difficult. She followed me and took my hands turning me to face her.

“Dear Aylin, Alone you can touch the silver. You can use it for your protection. The Queen and I just want you to be safe and sound. Is that very much to ask?” Tae questioned while letting her tears trail down her cheeks, making me melt over her words.

“Tae, keeping that knife with me wasn’t a problem, but you know it’s illegal to keep any silver. How do you sneak it into the palace? And why did my mother leave a knife for me? doesn't she know that I could touch silver?” I questioned, backing them with my reasons while removing tears drops from her cheeks.

She took a heavy breath and her face relaxed hearing I wasn’t denying to keep the knife. That blade was given to me by my mother. Indeed, if I couldn’t touch it, I would have kept it.

“In the last month of the queen’s pregnancy, a wounded fae teleported into her chamber, an entire arrow was passed through his stomach, his wounded were barely covered and blood was flowing oozing like a river. He brought that emerald studded knife with him.“

“Your mother respected fae a lot. He said, ``Time will come when her daughter needs to protect herself to meet her destiny to redefine it.” Tae responded while remembering the past events, closing her eyes, and allowing her tears to flow as much as they want.

It's hard for her to say. Her quivering lips showed how painful it was for her to share it. She was in pain as she lived that moment repeatedly.

“My queen believed in him as he told the past and future of the queen to make her believe what he was saying was crucial and necessary. He promised he will try to avoid problems in your path until you meet who redefines the path of your life.” She added, cleaning her tears while struggling to breathe well.

She opened her eyes. I could see the pride and sacrifice they made for me.

“Tae, I will keep that knife with me, but please don't cry anymore.” I requested, watching her in pain was difficult for me. She has completed the void of every person in my life.

Parents, friends, and many more. Taking a step closer to her, I cleaned her face. She shook her head in a negative.

Tightening her lips to suppress her cries more and hugged me. I have a lot of questions for you Tae, but I know you aren’t in the condition to answer whatever they are.

If mother and Tae want me to keep it, so I will. I was curious who the fae was? Species of fae are rare. They are extremely knowledgeable and vowed not to tell the future precisely.

Their predictions were constantly confusing to everyone apart from them, but her words didn’t feel like a prediction but more than the past in which he lived.

His words hinted at my safety and gave my mother that knife. I wasn't ready for something that was coming up. Much Tae believes, otherwise, she wouldn’t have told me all this.

“Calm down, my child. I won’t let anything happen to you.” She consoled me by caressing my hair and cupping my face in her other hand.

I nodded at her, keeping my eyes on the lights coming from far off, which were reassuring me, telling me to get prepared to handle every situation rising in front of me.

“What about those warriors? you know silver is banned. They will inform my father and he will doubtless punish you.” I responded hastily. She will be punished if we don't do something.

“No dear, they are trustworthy and know the seriousness of it. His highness will never learn about it. She explained, rubbing my back and holding a subtle contented smile on her face.

“It’s late Princess, rest today.” She suggested, glancing at the darkness outside the window.

It was midnight, and the moon was shining in its utmost glory. With a deep sigh, I nodded, squeezing her hands in mine, taking them from my face.

She left, making me lay down on the bed, covered with a blanket accurately up to my chin, and blew the small lamp flickering beside my bed.

I could see a small square red carpet on the floor lit by moonlight, as it was the hope in my dark life. That fae further said something about my path definer, I couldn’t understand that.

I can’t say he meant my mate because, as wolfless; I can’t be having a mate. Maybe he meant teacher or similar to it.

Falling asleep was quite an arduous task. Things that happened newly weren’t leaving my mind, making me think repetitively about them.

I get up from my bed walking towards the ark kept at the entrance of my wardrobe. The door of the balcony opened as I moved my hand in its direction and ignited the fire in the fireplace. It turned the room warmer than before.

Cool air was playing on my skin, making my long hair dance along with them. I sat down near the ark and moved my hand over it.

A large green emerald was studded precisely in the middle and surrounded by tiny diamonds, creating a flower with a green core. Petals carved in wood, graciously making it an outstanding piece of art.

I opened the ark. Soft muslin cloth was still covering the half of the knife, the edge of the cloth was  torn because of its sharpness.

The knife was reflecting its shine because of fire, making it more beautiful than before. It has a T-shaped handle with the same flower design studded with priceless stones and a long slender blade standing with pride with sharp edges on both sides.

While checking inside the ark, I again found a pouch filled with sharp silver needles. It was white-colored and decorated with green embroidery, the same as the ark. This piece of silver was feeling cold over my skin, but if someone else held it would have burned their skin.

I don’t know if it was a power or constant reminder. I was wolfless and spent my life trapped inside this palace without realizing there was a princess named Aylin.

I put the knife and pouch back in the ark when I woke up. A metallic sound came from the balcony, making me curious about it.

With heavy small steps, I approached the balcony peeping down from the railing to see what was going on. The darkness prevented me from seeing anything.

It must have been my imagination. Maybe the warriors were on rounds.

I turned and took a step towards my room, but a scream thundered in the calm environment, startling me at my pace. I Jerked back to see what happened, but the view made my blood drain.

A worrier was burning in fire at the back entrance of the palace, running madly, screaming for his previous life. The warriors were laying on the ground motionless. Were they dead? What’s happening here?

Armed soldiers ran out from the back door, turning themselves into their wolf’s form, roaring aloud standing protectively in front of the back door.

What the hell? Has someone lost control of their wolf? The door of my room opened with a loud thud, scaring my soul. I ran inside as I heard the terrified sound of Tae calling me.

Her face was as pale as a vampire, as blood wasn’t existing in her body. She was horrified.

“Princess Aylin, we are under attack.”
