Ulayah stared down at the screen of her phone looking at the time with a scowl on her face. Her manicured nails impatiently clicking on the table. She had been waiting on her best friend/sister Liza for damn near 20 minutes.

Today she was turning the "big three O" and she was none too happy about it and would love nothing more than to forget this day altogether and hide out in her apartment watching flicks and loading her gut with junk food. Yet Liza had begged and pleaded for her to come out for a birthday breakfast. 

It figured this day would turn out to be shit, just like her life was.

"Ok that's it...im outta here." She mumbled out shooting up from her chair and gathering her handbag & phone.

"No you don't little sister! Sit your round bubble butt right back down! Jesh your so impatient Ula." Liza puffed suddenly pulling Ulaya into a tight back hug. "Happy Birthday to you beautiful lady!" Liza sang cheerily swaying her aggravated sis side to side.

Ulayah was so irritated she swiftly turned to snap at her big sister for being so tardy and then scaring the total shit outta her, until she held up a small golden colored gift bag with pretty curled ribbons.

"I really hope you like this Ula....its something you've wanted for a long time, which is why I'm a bit late. Here...open it now please!" She handed over the sparkling bag with a look of exileration on her face.

Ulayah bit back the unsavory curse words she intended to use and instead smiled fondly. She gingerly accepted the bag as they both sat back down at the small table.

She opening the bag peering down inside. Her eyes immediately doubled in size at the small black box with "Chanel" written on top.

"Ohh God Liz you didn't! Ulayah's face lit up in surprise. Her eyes misting over.

"I did...I did!" Liza bounced in her seat excitedly as the birthday girl opened the box revealing the pricy earrings she'd wanted so badly. 

"Liz....I...I absolutely love them! Oh my God!" She covered her mouth and carefully pulled out the earrings after removing her own hoops and put them on quickly. Liza already had a compact in her hand so she could take a look.

"They look spectacular on you darling.. Money well spent! And tonight you can wear them when I take you out on the town. You are at the cusp of your adult years now...sooo tonight you will party hard pretty little sis!" Liza replied with excessive happiness.

Ulayah wanted to refuse going out to those clubs where both human & lycan species mingled in the same company which she knew for a fact Liza would hit up. She just could not say no after she had just gotten her such an exquisite gift. She'd have to suck it up for this girl she'd loved like a sister from age 9, and the two had gotten into quite a bit of mischief all throughout their lives together. 

"I have something else for you. A dress for you tonight and I do believe your gonna adore it!" She clapped her hands together like a baby seal.

"Wh...what time will this going out thing happen?" Ulayah fumbled over her words a bit as her slender fingers played with the expensive earrings hanging from her lobes with a half smile on her lips. 

"I'll come to your apartment around 7pm and get you all polished up. We're gonna have one helluva good time girl! I wanna see you let go and just have fucking amazing time girl, you deserve it love." Liza reached across the table squeazing her hands with a bright smile covering her mouth.

Ulayah dreaded this shit, but she'd do it for her girl. She'd get drunk as fuck and that way she knew she'd be able to deal with those beasts of men that seem to always gravitate towards her and she absolutely detested those big hairy critters that walked around like all women wanted them.

A bunch of self righteous bastards that thought the world revolved around them. Ulayah had good reason to feel so bitter against them since she'd seen the devastation they could cause and she simply had no use for such brute animals.
