Emma hated to use this part of her powers. The part of her powers that involved the dead. Her father had been ii charge of lost souls, dead people that did not move on. After she had defeated her father, the power to rule over them had been passed down to her.

Steve had filled her in about the dead body he saw. Emma had felt bad about the newly widowed werewolf and her daughters.

“How is the public taking it?” Emma asked. The last thing Sterling Creek needed was a civil unrest.

“Nothing but the woman has been highly compensated for now,” Steve replied. “Even though all she wants is for the killer to be brought to justice.”

“It’s rather strange if you ask me,” Sarah mused thoughtfully.

“That a werewolf was killed in a fight?” Steve asked her.

“No, that you people are not talking about the scent left behind,” Sarah replied.

No one spoke a word at first. “To be honest,” Steve said. “I did not think of that.”
