《》Lucien’s POV

The image kept replaying over and over in my head.

Two small faces. Two pairs of eyes. The childish laughter. Chasing butterflies between the trees.

Then her cold voice cutting through the air like a blade.

“They’re Ronan’s.” she'd said.

Lies.

I knew it deep down. But she’d said it with such certainty, such practiced ease, I almost believed her.

Almost.

But what if they really weren't mine?

I gripped the edge of the balcony so hard the stone cracked beneath my fingers.

Ronan.

Of course it would be him. Loyal, predictable Ronan. Always so close to her, always protecting her. Had she just run to him the second I cast her away?

I let out a low growl.

She couldn't move on. No. She still belonged to me, she was mine to break. Mine.

It had been five years. I had almost gone mad searching for her, I always knew she wasn't dead. But I buried her name under duty and blood. And yet one look at her, one sound of her voice, and everything I'd suppressed broke loose inside me like

The healers did what they could to get her stabilised, now all we could do was wait and hope that it was enough. I checked on her at intervals but she was still unconscious. She looked so thin and pale—fragile under the thick blanket. Her chest barely moved, I found myself placing a finger underneath her nose to check that she was still breathing. Nyra stirred within me as I watched her.‘She’s may not be what she seems,’ she whispered, quiet and cautious.‘I know,’ I whispered back. ‘But she’s just a girl.’ I saw too much of myself in her, maybe that was why I was so bent on helping herIt was just dawn when I heard a soft gasp cut through the stillness.I shifted in my seat and turned quickly. Her eyes—bright green, almost unnaturally vivid—were wide with confusion and fear. She tried to sit up but instead fell back with a groan.“Hey,” I said gently, stepping to her side. “Don't try to get up yet, you're healing pretty slowly. The healers said you had wolfsbane in your system”She

《》Aria's POVRonan and I stepped outside together for what would be my first transformation. The cool morning air kissed my skin, brushing away my nerves. The forest felt alive.Awakening Nyra had truly strengthened my natural senses. I could hear everything, from the rustle of leaves in the distance to the flap of wings high above us.Even the scents were overwhelming— pinewood, wet grass and dirt, moss.Ronan led me a little deeper into the trees until only the outer gate of the Citadel was visible to us. He looked over at me and said, “Don’t overthink it. Just listen to her. She’ll guide you.”“Is it going to hurt?” I finally asked the question that had been on my mind since we left his room.“Not particularly, a little discomfort and strain since it's your first time but it shouldn't hurt.”I nodded slowly before I could close my eyes, Ronan spoke again. “You might want to take your clothes off first,” He turned his back to me. “Oh, right.” I slipped my clothes off, sneaking loo

The voice in my head hadn’t disappeared when I woke up the next morning. It wasn't just a voice, but a presence. Like something that had always been there, watching… waiting… protecting me.It was almost strange how natural it felt. There was no panic, no fear. Just… peace. Her name whispered through me like a memory finally uncovered.Nyra.I said it out before I could stop myself, testing it. My voice had a slight tremble. ‘I’m here, Aria.’I sat up. My heart skipped a beat, but it wasn't from fear. She was real.My wolf.“I can hear you,” I whispered in disbelief. “You're really here.”‘I always have been. And now, we are one.’A flood of emotions washed over me all at once—relief, disbelief, joy, recognition. I didn’t know if I wanted to cry or laugh.I'd spent all my life feeling broken, incomplete, like I was missing a vital piece of myself. The ache that came with that feeling of emptiness had been so constant that I sometimes forgot it was even there. But now it was gone. Th

The dark hall's of the Citadel felt extra quiet as my feet padded softly across the marbled floor.I had just reached the door to my room when Ronan stepped into view. His eyes observed me with the precision of a soldier—but the heart of someone who already knew.“You saw him,” he said softly, it wasn't a question.“How did you know?” My throat felt dry as I spoke.“I saw the twins heading back to their rooms, they looked bothered. They saw me and couldn't stop speaking about the man in the orchards.”“Oh Goddess, the twins. They must be so confused. I didn’t mean for this to happen, not like this. He just showed up out of nowhere.”Ronan crossed his arms, leaning against the door. He didn’t speak right away. I knew he wouldn’t ask me to explain. He was never the type to push and that was what made this harder.“He saw the twins?”I nodded. “I told him they weren’t his. That they’re… yours.” I said the word carefully, partly avoiding his gaze and partly checking to gauge his reaction.

He didn’t say a word and neither did I.My breath caught in my throat, the air around felt heavy, pressing down against me with the weight of something I'd spent the last five years fearing.Lucien's eyes remained on the twins, his expression unreadable but even then, I knew something was brewing beneath those amber orbs.Kael took a small step forward, curious as always. Talia instinctively reached for my hand, hiding behind my dress.Lucien’s gaze finally settled on me, cold and unmoving.“What are you doing here?” I asked, voice tighter than I intended. He didn’t move, didn’t blink. “We need to talk.”I could feel the weight of that statement settle somewhere in my head. But not here. Not in front of them.I glanced down at the twins, their innocent eyes wide and waiting patiently for answers—answers I couldn't give. “Go inside,” I said softly, brushing Talia’s hair back. “I’ll come soon.”“But—”“Now.” My voice was gentle but firm. They obeyed without argument, though Talia glanc
