CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE

The charity gala had begun two hours ago. We had been served dinner shortly after the welcome speech and as previously mentioned, the auction started an hour ago. The whole auction was a cover-up. People didn't want the items that were auctioned, they wanted to show their authority. It was a game of 'who has the most money'. It was so that other companies would notice theirs and maybe an opportunity for connections.

During dinner, Elijah's parents joined us at our table. I had thought the others would sit and eat with us, but one look from William Easton was sufficient for our friends to run with their plates to another table. They did look guilty and slightly apologetic, but what for I don't know.

We all ate in silence after introductions, but I could tell that William was observing me secretly. He was evaluating me. It wasn't until our main course had been bought, he decided to ask questions. The questions started off simple, like how did you get into school and what are your plan
