HARTANTO HOUSE – NIGHT

In the dimly lit living room, lit only by the light of a table lamp, Anita sat in front of her laptop. A cup of cooling coffee sat beside a pile of documents. Her eyes were tired, but her mind was still forced to stay awake. The office work piled up mercilessly.

The calm atmosphere was suddenly shattered by the sound of hurried footsteps.

"Anita."

The voice sounded flat but full of intent. Anita lifted her head, turning reluctantly toward the source of the voice. Hana stood in the doorway, a sly smile spreading across her lips.

Anita sighed heavily. It was already late, and the woman still didn't know the time.

"What else is there, Hana?" she asked coldly.

"I just wanted to make sure you knew, I'm marrying into the Sanjaya family. It looks like you need to adjust your schedule so you can come," Hana said as she walked casually, yet arrogantly, toward Anita.

Anita closed her laptop slowly. She rolled her eyes lazily.

"How many times have you said that, Hana? Even the walls probably know it by heart. I'm sick of hearing it." Her tone conveyed a deep sense of disgust.

Hana's smile didn't fade in the slightest. In fact, it grew wider, like a cat playing with a mouse.

"Don't worry, I just want to make sure of one more thing." She approached, leaned in, and said softly but piercingly, "Come with your husband. I want everyone to know you're not married to a fictitious man."

Anita's gaze froze for a moment. There was a pause. But then her lips curved slowly. It wasn't an angry smile—but a calm, bewildering smile.

"Okay," Anita replied firmly, surprising Hana slightly. "You'll see my husband for yourself. Don't embarrass yourself later."

Hana straightened, her gaze scanning Anita's suddenly confident face. A flicker of anxiety flickered in her eyes, but she quickly brushed it aside.

Hana was surprised that Anita didn't feel scared or embarrassed, wondering what the woman was planning. "You're going to bring your disabled husband, Anita. I can't wait."

Anita was silent for a moment after Hana mocked her. However, Anita hoped that her husband had changed by now. She was sure the treatment was over and he might have changed.

"Say whatever you want, just don't bother me!"

"Haha, I can't wait."

Hana said that and immediately went upstairs to her room.

Anita watched Hana leave. She then decided to grab her phone and call her husband.

"Hello Morgan."

"Yes, Anita. It's unusual for you to call me first."

"When are you coming?" Anita asked.

"It seems you can't wait for me to come back. I just finished packing, and I'm leaving for Indonesia tomorrow."

Anita was delighted to hear that, especially when she heard that Morgan was coming home.

"Okay, I just want you to accompany me to my stepsister's engagement party," Anita said.

"Your stepsister, okay. But there's one more thing I want to talk to you about," Morgan said.

"What?" Anita asked.

"After I return to Indonesia, I probably won't be living with you for a while. I still have a lot of things to take care of," Morgan said.

Anita raised an eyebrow in surprise. "What business?"

Morgan laughed when she asked about this. "You'll find out later, but now isn't the time for you to know everything."

Anita was actually a little curious about what Morgan was hiding. But she wasn't going to interfere, especially after her father had met her earlier.

"Okay, whatever. As long as you accompany me to the party."

"I'll definitely accompany you later."

"Okay, then I'll hang up," Anita said, finally deciding to hang up.

She returned to her current task. Can't wait for her husband to come home soon.

The luxurious home of Prayoga's family.

Prayoga stared at his men with a cynical look. For almost two years, they hadn't found the truth about Prawira.

Prayoga stood, staring at them with a sharp gaze, eyes filled with anger and deep frustration.

"It's been almost two years..." he said softly, yet sharply. "You've been searching for two years, but to no avail. Are you stupid, or are you just not willing to work?"

One of his men dared to speak. "We've tried our best, sir... but we haven't found his body. There's a possibility... he's still alive."

BUGH!

Prayoga punched the man in the face without hesitation. Fresh blood flowed from the corner of his lip.

"DON'T EVER SAY THAT!" Prayoga shouted, his voice shaking the room. "Do you know what it means if he's still alive? Everything—everything that belongs to me can be taken back!"

Prayoga took a deep breath, trying to calm himself but failing. His chest heaved with emotion. He turned around, his back to them, but his voice remained sharp.

"CCTV near the accident site? None can be accessed?"

"It was damaged a long time ago, sir. We really don't have any traces left."

"Unlucky!"

He turned around and hit the table beside him. The glass shattered on the floor, the shards reflecting his face filled with fear that was trying to be covered by anger.

"Get out! You're all useless!" he snapped finally, chasing them away like wild dogs.

He only hoped that he would meet the corpse of the dead Prawira. But in fact until now he had not found anything at all. What he was worried about would happen if Prawira was still alive and this would be detrimental to him.

As his men came out with hasty steps and wounds on their faces, the sound of soft footsteps could be heard behind him.

"What is this, Prayoga?"

"Daddy."

"I saw the boys blurring, did you hit them?" Umar asked his son.

"Yes, they were completely incompetent. Prawira's body hasn't been found yet."

"It's possible he really did die after the accident, don't worry."

"But Dad, it's possible he's still alive," said Prayoga.

"You should immediately marry Hartanto's daughter and take over Prawira's inheritance; that's the only way."

Prayoga immediately smiled when he heard the idea. He patted his father on the shoulder. "Dad's right. I just have to do that. I'll marry her soon."

"Don't rush it, just focus on your engagement, convince his business associates first. Then you can take over everything," Umar suggested.

Prayoga simply nodded with a knowing smile. "Okay. I understand; everything will be mine."

It seemed Hana had deliberately kept her from telling her."You don't know who I am? Oh, that's natural, it's the first time we've met. Let me introduce myself. My name is Anita Anindya Hartanto."Hearing the surname made Prayoga turn to Hana. "You have a sibling, Hana? However, beneath the satisfied look in her eyes, there lurked a glimmer of ambition."It's done, Sis," the MUA said with a proud smile after applying the final touches to Hana's cheeks."Good," Hana replied curtly. She reached for a small velvet box and opened it, revealing a sparkling gemstone necklace, as if eager to capture the attention of anyone who saw it. She put it around her neck and looked back into the mirror."Tonight... everything will change," she murmured softly. The door suddenly swung open. Morgan's black car slowly pulled into the parking lot where the event was taking place. Behind the wheel, his expression remained calm, seemingly unaffected by the formal atmosphere within the grand building. After parking the car, Morgan got out first. With a polite and dignified demeanor, he opened the passenger door. Anita stepped out gracefully, her elegant dress swaying with her steps."Thank you, Morgan," Anita said curtly.Morgan simply nodded slightly. "You're welcome."But before they could walk any further, Anita tugged on his jacket sleeve, stopping him momentarily. "Morgan," her voice was low but firm. "Inside, I want us to look like a real married couple. Don't give them any reason to suspect anything."Morgan glanced at her briefly, before his lips curved into a faint smile. Wordlessly, he wrapped his arm around Anita's waist, pulling her close until she was almost touching."What are you—" Anita choked, her eyes widening as the distance between them evaporated so quickl

"How's my wife?"The deep voice greeted her softly, making Anita stop in her tracks. She turned, and her eyes immediately caught the figure of a sturdy man wearing an elegant black suit. His steps were steady, his leather shoes echoing softly on the marble floor. But what made Anita frown wasn't his model-like appearance, but rather... the plain black mask that still covered half of his face. Her heart clenched for a moment."Why is your face still covered? Isn't... your surgery over?" she asked softly, trying to hold back her disappointment.Morgan—the masked man—was silent for a moment. His wedding ring-wearing fingers clenched slightly. "The surgery is indeed over," he replied.Anita took a deep breath. She stepped closer, the sound of her heels echoing softly in the room."Then why is it covered?" she asked again, this time in a slightly sharper tone. "I want to see your face. At least... I deserve to know who my husband is, don't I?"Understandably, Anita had never seen her husba

Anita stood in front of the full-length mirror in her bedroom. Her elegant evening blue dress fell gracefully along her curves, and her makeup accentuated a beauty she never flaunted casually. Tonight, she wasn't just a guest. She was a symbol of resistance. After ensuring everything was perfect, Anita picked up a small bag that matched her dress. She stepped out of her house and headed for her parked car. She started the engine, and at a moderate speed, she sped off into the darkness.A few minutes later, the car stopped in front of a modest house located some distance from the city center. It was a stark contrast to her luxurious lifestyle. Yet, here, her husband had lived—in a place filled with tranquility and secrecy.Anita got out of the car and looked around. The porch light was dim, but it was enough to make out the figure of a middle-aged man standing in the doorway. His face was friendly, but his eyes held a sharpness that couldn't be ignored."Good evening, son-in-law," the

"What did you find?" Anita asked over the phone."About Prawira, it turns out he's dead."ThrilledAnita was shocked to learn that Prawira, the man she was once engaged to, was dead. How could this be? No media outlets even reported his death. Could this be the reason why the Sanjaya family never exposed their heir?"Dead?" Anita asked again.Anita felt curious after hearing this sad news. Was he murdered? It was certainly a dispute over the inheritance. His fate wasn't much different from hers."Yes, the investigation says he was in an accident two years ago.""An accident?""That's all the information I have. I don't know the rest. Perhaps since Prawira was declared dead, the entire inheritance went to Prayoga, Hana's fiancé. Considering they were part of the same family," Icha explained.Anita, hearing this, smiled meaningfully. "I'm becoming increasingly suspicious that Prawira might have been murdered by Prayoga.""You're right, Anita. I suspect that too." Icha thought for a mome
