Chapter 3

Claire's POV

Mr. Knight took Jennifer and me to breakfast at an old diner we passed. Jennifer and I sat beside each other while Mr. Knight sat across from us in a booth.

"The ride will take us about three hours to get home," Mr. Knight said, and Jennifer and I stayed quiet.

The waitress came and took our order. After we had ordered our food, Mr. Knight turned to look at us.

"Tanya has already enrolled the both of you in school, so you will be ready to go tomorrow," Mr. Knight said

"That sounds good, Mr. Knight," I said

"Please, call me Sean," he said, and I smiled at him

"My daughter Stacy is the same age as you, Jennifer. I am sure you two will get along, and I have twin sons that are eighteen years old, Stephen and Steven. They are seniors just like you, Claire.," he said

Jennifer and I smiled at him knowing he most likely thought we would be happy that they had children our age. He didn't know that we only had each other since our parents passed away. We didn't have any friends being in foster care; people would stay away from us. We were the poor kids without parents, and most stayed away from us.

The waitress came, and we began to eat. Sean watched as Jennifer, and I devoured our food without taking a breath. It had been a while since the both of us had a decent meal. At the orphanage, we mostly ate oatmeal for breakfast and spaghetti for dinner. I could see the sympathy in Sean's eyes and that he wanted to ask us something, and I was happy he didn't.

Once we were done eating, we got back in the car and headed to our new home. The ride was quiet, with soft music playing in the background. Jennifer and I ended up falling asleep a little after breakfast. I felt someone shake me softly and cause me to wake up.

"We are here," Sean said, and I was shocked at what I saw

The house that was in front of me was huge. It was bigger than any house I had ever seen. When we walked inside, Tonya was waiting for us with a smile on her face.

"I am so happy you two are here," She said and hugged Jennifer and me.

There was a girl around Jennifer's age that was standing by Tanya. She had brown hair and was the same height as Jennifer.

"This is our daughter Stacy. Stacy, these are the girls I was telling you about, Claire and Jennifer," Tanya said

"Hi, it is nice to meet the both of you," Stacy said shyly

"Nice to meet you too," I said, while Jennifer smiled shyly at her.

"Let's show the two of you to your rooms, and then I will give you a tour of the house," Tanya said, and we followed her.

On our way, I noticed there were a lot of people walking around the house. They ranged in age from kids to adults. I also saw people hanging out at the front of the house while we walked into the house.

"There are a lot of people here," I said, and Tanya laughed

"Yeah, there are different families that live in the house. You could say that we are one big happy family," Tanya said

It was strange to me that all these families lived together, but this was a massive house, so they had the space. As long as nobody messed with my sister or me, I didn't care how many people lived there. We got on an elevator, and Tanya pressed the sixth floor. Once we walked out of the elevator, Tanya took us to a room, and I couldn't believe how nice it was. It had a king-size bed, walk-in closet, and bathroom inside. There was a 32-inch tv on the wall.

"I thought you would like this room, Jennifer," Tanya said, and I looked at her.

"I thought we were going to share a room," I said

"You don't have to do that, sweetheart. There are a lot of rooms on our floor," Tanya said

Jennifer and I have been sharing a room since being in foster care. I looked at Jennifer and saw the happiness in her eyes at having her own room. It would be nice to have some privacy.

"You like the room?" I asked Jennifer, and she nodded

Jennifer and Stacy were talking and laughing, which made me happy because I could tell they would get along.

"Let's go look at your room," Tanya said, smiling as she looked at Jennifer and Stacy.

"Okay," I said and told Jennifer I was going to my room.

My room was across from Jennifers, which I was happy about. It looked exactly the same as hers as well.

"Sean and my room are on this floor as well. This is our family floor, though the twins share the whole top floor. You can go anywhere in this house except for floor seven. My twins are very private and love their space," Tanya said

"Okay," I said.

"I will leave you to get settled, and then you can come down, and I will give you and Jennifer a tour," She said

"That sounds great," I said, and she left.

After I put my belongings away, I went to Jennifer's room to see Stacy and her talking animatedly about something.

"Hey," I said

"Hey," they both replied

"Are you ready to go look around?" I asked

"Yeah," Jennifer said, and we all went downstairs to the kitchen

Tanya showed us around the house. The backyard had a swimming pool, and many teens were hanging out there. After the tour, Jennifer, Stacy, and I decided to hang out by the pool. I will be back. I am going to go to the restroom real quick," I said

After I was done using the bathroom, I heard someone yelling in the backyard.

"I can't believe you ran into me; you need to apologize, little girl," I heard someone say

"I didn't mean to; it was an accident, I swear," I hear my sister say

I ran outside to see what was going on. When I got out there, I saw a girl around my age. She was very tall and skinny with blond hair and brown eyes and standing too close to my sister.

I ran to where they were and stood in front of my sister.

"You better watch who the fuck you are talking to. That is my sister," I growled as I looked up at her.

"And what are you going to do about it," she said

"You don't want to know. Back off before I make you," I warned

"What is going on here," I heard a man's voice say, but I didn't turn to look at the man; I kept my gaze on the girl that had just threatened my sister

"Well, Monica," The man asked

"Nothing is going on, baby. Just a misunderstanding," the girl said and walked past me and over to him.

I turned around and looked up at the man. I was shocked to see that it was not only one but two guys. They were about my age and had the exact same face. They were the most handsome men I have ever seen.

Monica had her hands wrapped around one of their necks. I could see them talking but wasn't paying attention to the words. I didn't like that she was touching him. I felt a tight pain in my chest, seeing her hands on his.

The other was looking back at me with a shocked expression on his face. I saw him hit his brother on the shoulder, making him turn and look at him with a confused expression. Then he turned and looked at me, and the same shocked look came on his face. He immediately removed Monca's hands from him and moved away from her while still looking at me.

"What's wrong, baby?" Monica asked

"Dinner is ready," I heard Tanya say, and Jennifer hit my shoulder, trying to get my attention.

"Yeah," I said, taking my eyes off of the twins

"I said are you okay?"Jennifer asked

"Yeah, let's go eat," I said, and we walked into the house, passing the twins and Monica.

This is gonna be super confusing with the names. Two Monica’s and the twins names are the same ? Who does that. Also… gramma isn’t so great. Will keep going and see if i can still get into it. But right now. It’s not really passing.
