CHAPTER 26: MONEY TALKS
Three days later
Aurora had awoken once again but Leonardo had not slept beside her, even after three days he was still mad her for lying to him. Their interactions were more formal than what a married couple was like and there was nothing that she could do about it.
Aurora had tried conversing but to no avail, as Leonardo had done whatever necessary to avoid her at every turn.
“Are you feeling okay?” her mother in-law asked her, concern evident on the older woman’s face. Her mother in-law had taken her on yet another shopping trip throughout the town and honestly, Aurora was sick of it.
“Nothing mother, I was just thinking”
“You think too much” Signora Carina waved her off, dragged her to yet another high end store. They walked in and almost instantly a sales girl came to greet them.
“Good afternoon Mrs. Romano, it has been quite some time”

The driver walked into the mansion, holding onto Signora Carina as though his life depended on it whilst Aurora watched from a close distance. After sitting nearly two hours in the bathroom, Aurora unlocked the door and she smiled at the sight before her. Leonardo had kept to his word as she saw him lying right at the door, sleeping.Whether he was truly sorry about what he said, Aurora had no way of knowing, she was only married to him for a little under a week and so far their marriage was far from what one would call perfect.She leaned onto the door frame and observed the man that was now her husband after only meeting on their wedding day. The car ride was smooth, her window slightly opened, allowing the cool wind to blow through. Even though his eyes was on the road, from his peripheral vision Leonardo could see that Aurora was smiling.Her curly hair even though tied back, blew as the wind caressed her. His emotional outburst had been unexpected and sitting having breakfast with his family and acting as though nothing was wrong had been eating him up.The drive was definitely what he needed and who better to go with him than his new wife. “You look sad, beautiful lady” Old man Bernie stood next to her, as Aurora continued to study the picture of Old man Bernie’s wife.“I just missed someone who was close to me that’s all” she responded, her heart bleeding as she remembered her mother and even sadder that she could not openly speak about her mother.“No need to worry about anything, everything happens for a reason” Old man Bernie told her.“Yes you are right” she answered, flashing a weak smile at Bernie.“Now come on, no need to be sad when your husband is with you” Old man Bernie told her as he walked her away from the picture. Do not tell him, he will just laugh at you. Her mind taunted her and just like that, doubt crept into her mind. She looked away from him and looked beyond the window and she looked beyond all that was happening.Leonardo could feel it in his guts that his question had upset Aurora but he knew that he had to push through. Leonardo batted his eyelids, he had hoped that Aurora would forget the embarrassing display that he had put up in the morning but here she was, reminding him of the sadness that filled his heart.“Nothing but the truth, please” Looking into her eyes, he knew that he could not lie to the woman who was now his better half, even though he did not see himself as a better half.“I was informed that one of my students had passed on and that is the reason why I was upset” he confessed. Aurora’s face changed, sadness washed over her face and a small part of him pained seeing her worry.“I am so sorry, I didn’t realize that you were—”“No need to apologize to me, everything happens for a reason” He answered, looking away and walking past Aurora to enter into their room. He shut the door behind himself, leaving Aurora outside their room as she wondered how she would fix things between them.&n
