The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed after having one of the best sleeps of my life. It was as if my nerves and thoughts finally quieted and relaxed me.

"It's because I've been suppressed this whole time. Now we can let our true self be free."

"I don't know about that yet. I don't think humans are supposed to know about us."

"No, but we can find a pack to live in! We can be surrounded by our own. We can live free there."

"I don't know the first thing about a pack or werewolves. Maybe I should mention something to Ma and Pa?"

"Hmm, they are wolves."

"Their what!?"

"Their wolves too, can't you smell them?"

"Is that what the new smell in the house is?"

"Yes, everyone has a unique smell to them as a wolf. Usually, it is quite an earthy scent. Your mate, however, will smell differently. Of smells that really speak to you."

"I don't think I should let Ma and Pa know just yet. They always told me not to take off the necklace. If I won't put it back on, then I should keep this a secret for a little bit longer."

"Then you should get ready for school and out of the house now. It's still early, and they are sleeping. Can you hear their slow breaths as they sleep?"

I listened carefully. I could pick up the clock ticking and a tap somewhere slowly dripping. Then, I finally heard it, the slight breath of someone else. Slow and steady.

"I can hear it, Evelyn! I really can!"

"You just have to focus. I'm here for you. I will guide you."

"Maybe this won't be so bad after all."

I bounced out of bed and headed for the washroom to quickly clean up before getting dressed and sneaking out.

"Let's go for a run before school."

I silently agreed as I ran towards the woods. I dropped my bag and shyly started to undress when I heard footsteps.

"Who's there?" I peaked behind the tree I was standing behind.

"Sorry, it's just me," Krewe said as he emerged naked from behind another tree.

I couldn't help but stare. The muscles all over his body were something I had never seen before. It was like looking at a statue. My eyes continued downwards, and I saw his manhood on display. I looked away quickly as I noticed a smirk on his face.

"Why are you naked?"

"Same reason you're about to be."

"Why are you here?"

"I came to see if you were interested in running with me this morning."

"Naked!?"

"Haha, no. In our wolf forms. What do you say?"

"Well, look away."

"You don't have to be shy about it. Your apart of our world now. It's all natural."

"Well, it's not natural for me yet. Please, turn around?"

"Alright."

As Krewe spun around, I undressed. I felt like he was trying hard not to take a peak. Finally, undressed, I shifted. It was easier this. It still hurts, but surprisingly, it's easier.

My wolf looked around and saw another wolf twice her size. I remember Krewe shifting that first time, but with the shock of it all, I never took him in fully. He was a black wolf with shiny fur and green eyes. He came up close to Evelyn, sniffing the air at first, and then he rubbed his snout along her neck. It was like he was embracing her.

"Our mate loves us!"

"Love!? No way! We barely know them!"

"It's the mate bond, and I love him just as much back!"

Krewe's wolf then took off running.

"Ready, Sawyer?"

"Yes."

With my answer, Evelyn bounded after him. Our wolves ran and ran all throughout the woods. They took turns chasing each other, playfully nipping each other here and there. We ran until we got to the lake house again. Evelyn stood crouched in the shadows as she sensed others nearby. Krewe's wolf nudged me from behind as a way of telling me to follow. He took the lead. Evelyn was still hesitant. Krewe walked off and disappeared around back. He then came out walking out of the house after a few minutes towards me.

"Here, take these and change. You can then come in and say hello to Max and Elizabeth. Hang out for a bit."

I felt conflicted in this moment. I didn't know if I wanted others to know. I also would be missing school. My heart started to race as Evelyn started to back away.

"Please don't run," Krewe said softly, "I mindlinked them, I told them you were a wolf and you would join us. Their excited. Please join us today?"

I stood there frozen. I wanted to run, but I was also curious about this new world. I didn't know what to do.

"What do we do, Evelyn?"

"We should stay. We can learn more."

"What about school?"

"School is for humans. You are a wolf. Born from the Moon Goddess, rooted to the earth, and craving for a pack life. Please stay."

I controlled Evelyn to shift in front of Krewe. My emotions were running high again, and I'm not sure where the courage came to shift and stand before him naked. But I did.

"You're naked," Krewe blushed, taking me in.

"You said it was normal," I said as I grabbed the clothes and started getting dressed.

He had brought me a shirt that was way too big for me and hung down to my knees like a dress. The sweatpants were baggy and barely did up.

"Whose clothes are these?" I said as I sniffed them, realizing before he said the words that they were his.

"Mine. Is something wrong?"

"No, their just a little big, don't you think?"

Krewe laughed, "I guess so. Maybe one of the girls has something you can borrow."

"Girls?" I said, lifting a brow.

"Elizabeth and another friend of ours, Shiloh."

"I don't know about this."

"Come on! It will be fun!"

So I followed Krewe up the steps to the lake house. I could hear laughter coming from within.

"Sawyer!" Elizabeth ran over and gave me a hug. "Congratulations on finding your wolf!"

"Thanks?"

"Liz, take it easy on her. She's new. How's it going, beautiful?" Max said as he leaned in for a hug, too.

"Always the charmer."

Max seemed a lot like Ceasar. Always trying to charm the ladies. It made me laugh.

"What did I do?"

"You just remind me of my best friend, is all."

"Glad I could make you feel comfortable. You have a great smile and an even better laugh."

Krewe grabbed my hand and led me over to the last person to be introduced. I felt instant sparks as our hands met. It felt warm and gave me butterflies in my stomach. Then, I let go of his hand just as fast. It then felt cold and empty.

I smiled, "You must be Shiloh! It's great to meet you."

"How do you know Krewe," she glared at me.

"We met just the other day when I was at work."

"You work? For what pack? What job do you do?"

"Haha, not for a pack. I work at a diner. I'm new to this whole wolf thing."

"This whole wolf thing? Who do you think you are? Do you think you're better than us because you live amongst humans?"

"No, sorry. Did I say something wrong?" I suddenly felt insecure and wanted to hide under a rock. So I stepped back and bumped into Max. I grabbed his hand for support.

"Shy! Don't be rude to our guest!" Krewe barked out.

"Our guest! She isn't even a part of our pack? What do you think your mother and father would say? She's practically a rogue Krewe! Why do you even care about her?" Shiloh stormed off out the back door.

"I'll be back!" Krewe ran after her.

"Did I do something wrong?"

Elizabeth and Max shook their heads, feeling just as confused as I did.

I sat on the back deck with Liz as Max got the grill going. They were being so nice to me. They accepted me for who I was. This whole wolf thing was so ordinary for them that it made me forget who I truly was. I didn't feel like a freak, but I needed more. I needed more answers. Like, why my aunt and uncle are making me wear that necklace instead of telling me about who I really am? "Sawyer, are you good with burgers?" "Definitely. Thanks, Max." Krewe had excused himself and took off inside. I was starting to get used to the sensitivity of scent and hearing. I could tell he wasn't around the house right now. I wonder where he went. Maybe it had something to do with Shiloh? Maybe there was more there than I knew? "Hey, Sawyer! How about we go for a swim in the lake! It's such a beautiful day!" "I'd love to, but I don't have my swimsuit with me." "You can borrow one of mine! Come on!" Liz grabbed me by my hand again, and we made our way into the house, to a bedroom upstai

  • The Last Moon   Chapter 13

It was 11:30 A.M. already, and I hadn't seen Sawyer at school yet. I started to worry. My class needed my attention, but I was fading as my mind wondered to her. "Mr. Henderson?" A student stood in front of my desk. "Yes?" "The bell rang, are we able to leave?" "Sorry, class. Please finish up chapter 12, and we will review it tomorrow." "Thank you, Mr. Henderson." I grabbed my things and headed outside to see if I could spot her in the football fields. It was a nice day, so I figured she would be with the other cheerleaders. I couldn't even scent her anywhere in the halls. My mind was so preoccupied with trying to get outside that I didn't realize I bumped into her best friend, Ceasar. "Sorry, Mr. Henderson. I didn't see you there." He probably didn't see me or care to as he was too busy typing away on his phone. "It's all good, Ceasar." "Have a good day, Mr. Henderson." "Actually, Ceasar, have you seen Sawyer?" "No. She's not at school today." "Thank y

I grabbed her hand, and it felt glorious. Her hand fit in mine perfectly. The bond felt better than I could have imagined. I grabbed it without thinking of Shy, though. Sawyer must have felt something off because as quickly as I grabbed it, she was just as quick to let go. She was perfect, though, composing herself and introducing herself to Shy like a true Luna would despite the awkwardness. Shy saw the hand hold, and that was my first mistake because she went off on Sawyer. It didn't have to mean anything, but she wolves, especially dating Alphas, are quite possessive. They know if their not fated to us that they really are disposable. "Shy!" I called out after chasing after her, "can you stop and talk to me?" "Talk to you! How dare you!" "What did I do?" "I saw the way you looked at her, the way you held her hand. Why would you bring your next conquest here while you still have a girlfriend?" "I didn't! We just met." "She means more to you than that. Be honest, Krew

I could feel eyes on me as I dangled my feet in the water. I didn't want to give whoever it was the satisfaction that I knew right away. Instead, I sniffed the air and could smell her sweet scent. My mate. I looked up and stared in the direction that I could feel she was standing. I couldn't see anything. Her wolf must be a tracker and a good one at that. I stared and started to slowly get up, but that's when she took off. Her emotions are raw and uncontrolled right now. She needs to listen to her wolf right now for guidance. I can't push too hard, or I will scare her away. That would be the worst thing I could do. So I stood and stretched before taking my pants off and jumping into the cold water for a swim. I needed to relax my mind. I couldn't believe it when she asked me to come watch her practice or even when she asked me to come back to her place. When I got into her room and her scent hit me as hard as it did, I wanted to jump her, mark her, make her mine. Then she as

Krewe ended up coming to practice. He sat in the bleachers, and I waved to him as I ran towards the cheer squad. "I don't think Tom's going to be too happy seeing that guy here," Cassandra said with a sneer. "Why would Tom care?" I scanned the field for Tom. His jersey number was 22, but I hadn't caught sight of him yet. "Why!?" She scoffed, "Maybe because that guy hit him." She folded her arms across her chest. "I didn't know about any of that." "Yea, because you're always leaving your man for others to take care of. Where were you later that night when that went down?" "I had gone home. I wasn't feeling well." "Mhmm. Anyways, girls, let's get started." I looked up to Krewe sitting on the bleachers and wondered why he would have done such a thing. He smiled, so I politely waved back before beginning practice. "Hey babe! How's it going?" Tom put his arm around me after practice ended. "Where did you come from? I didn't see you when I got here?" "I was probably st
