Sawyer Moon, daughter to the late Alpha Felix Moon and Luna Sasha Moon, before another ruthless Alpha killed them and took over their pack. Unfortunately, Sawyer was only 3 years old at the time. She was left in the care of her aunt and uncle, Rosa and Phil Handler. They lived away from any packs, blending in with the humans in a small town called Hope Springs. Sawyer has no idea she's a werewolf. Her aunt and uncle had a pendant necklace made for her to stop her from shifting. She's been told to never take it off as it symbolizes protection and was given to her by her late parents. Her aunt and uncle have always treated her with lots of love, raising her as their own since they couldn't have children. But to protect Sawyer from Alpha Tristan Lake, the man who killed her parents, they've had to hide her and raise her as a human. Will her safe human world come crumbling down when she discovers who she really is or will her powers be released.

"I'm trying to go as fast as I can." "Sasha, you don't have to pack everything. Just enough to get her through the next couple of days." "We have plenty of supplies already at home. Please, we have to leave Sasha. This isn't safe for us or the girl." "But I can't just give her up like this, Rosa." "I understand it must be difficult. But this is war. This is for her own protection." "Sasha now! Give her up now!" "Okay, Felix. Calm down, give her another moment." "Goodbye, my sweet baby girl. I love you. I've loved you even before I ever saw you. You will always have my heart. Please always remember me and your father." She handed the toddler over to her sister before she was placed safely into a car seat. "Please protect her." "You know we will love her as if she was our own. I love you, Sasha." "I love you too, Rosa." Tears fell as the howls in the night grew louder. "You have to leave now!" Phil and Rosa raced to the car and got in before speeding off down the dark dirt road and off into the night. "She will be fine, Sasha. We are doing what's best for her." "I know. It just hurts so much." Felix froze on the spot as a mindlink came through. "What is it, Felix?" "They've breached the borders. It's time!" With one final embrace, they both raced out of the house and shifted while running to meet with the rest of the pack. Felix and Sasha stood front and center while the rest lined up in rows behind. "I want to say thank you to you all for fighting for this pack. We may be small, but we can be mighty. This is for the Full Moon Pack! We won't ever let the Cresent Moon Pack take away our strength, our love, or our family values. We fight together, and we will die together." The support and love Felix and Sasha felt at that moment from the pack made it all that much easier to know they made the right choice to fight. They knew they wouldn't win, but the fact they were willing to sacrifice their lives for the pack made it all worth it. They could hear the paws thundering on the ground in front of them. They could feel the ground shake as the Cresent Moon Pack grew closer. The first sight of the other wolves Felix leaped into the air and took down the first of many. But they kept coming. Sasha kept trying to keep her eye on Felix and any others that needed help when suddenly a wolf jumped and grabbed her neck. His teeth sunk deeply in as he shook her body around ripping flesh and allowing Sasha to bleed out. "Sasha!" Felix growled. He ran over, jumping over bodies and other fights till he got to her lifeless body just laying there. "I love you, Sasha. Please wake up." He nudged her body with his snout, but nothing. That's when a wolf grabbed him by the ankle, while another bit down on his neck. He became weak in that moment. "Surrender and survive. Keep the pack alive and keep us in your hearts. Save those who are left," Felix said through the mindlink before being killed. His body falling atop Sashas. The pack lowered themselves into submission, baring their necks to the other pack as Alpha Tristan stepped forward from the shadows. "Welcome to the Cresent Moon Pack. Please pledge your loyalty to us. Any of you who do not will be punished and exiled. Our borders have expanded, and we will take over into your land. You may address me as Alpha. Your new Luna here is Luna Tina Lake and should be addressed accordingly. For those of you who don't know, we have a son who will one day be your leader." A young pup came forward with Luna Tina. "His name is Krewe. Please respect him as such. We will treat you with respect, but you must work hard and show us your loyalty to earn that respect. We run a tight ship. Now, where are the bodies of Alpha and Luna Moon?" Several wolves whined and lowered their heads in the direction of their fallen leader. "I will have none of that!" He strode over to the bodies, snarling. "Where is the girl?" Everyone shifted uncomfortably. "I said, where is the girl!?" "We have not found her. We are still looking through the pack but have not caught any scent of her." "Who knows where the girl is!?" A lone wolf stepped forward, "I would like to apologize to my old pack for this betrayal, but I believe the girl fled with her aunt and uncle." "We will continue the search for her. She will be found and killed too." All the wolves started howling, and those from the Full Moon Pack joined in to show their loyalty in fear of being reprimanded for not doing so. Meanwhile, several miles away, Rosa and Phil had covered a lot of ground getting away from the pack while the toddler slept in the back. "Do you think they will make it?" "I doubt it," Rosa said as she lowered her head, "The Cresent Moon Pack is much larger and stronger. Alpha Tristan is ruthless, and the only way for his reign to come to end is if their son doesn't follow in his footsteps. He needs to let go of grudges and live a happier and more peaceful life. I feel sorry for the Full Moon Pack." "Well, you came from there, so there was some good within that pack." "That's because everyone lives in fear. Everyone is good. It's just the way Alpha Tristan runs the pack. Everyone fears, so they work harder. No one is truly happy. That's why Sasha and I left when we had the chance." Phil rested his hand upon Rosa's. They remained quiet for the rest of the ride.I sat on the back deck with Liz as Max got the grill going. They were being so nice to me. They accepted me for who I was. This whole wolf thing was so ordinary for them that it made me forget who I truly was. I didn't feel like a freak, but I needed more. I needed more answers. Like, why my aunt and uncle are making me wear that necklace instead of telling me about who I really am? "Sawyer, are you good with burgers?" "Definitely. Thanks, Max." Krewe had excused himself and took off inside. I was starting to get used to the sensitivity of scent and hearing. I could tell he wasn't around the house right now. I wonder where he went. Maybe it had something to do with Shiloh? Maybe there was more there than I knew? "Hey, Sawyer! How about we go for a swim in the lake! It's such a beautiful day!" "I'd love to, but I don't have my swimsuit with me." "You can borrow one of mine! Come on!" Liz grabbed me by my hand again, and we made our way into the house, to a bedroom upstai
It was 11:30 A.M. already, and I hadn't seen Sawyer at school yet. I started to worry. My class needed my attention, but I was fading as my mind wondered to her. "Mr. Henderson?" A student stood in front of my desk. "Yes?" "The bell rang, are we able to leave?" "Sorry, class. Please finish up chapter 12, and we will review it tomorrow." "Thank you, Mr. Henderson." I grabbed my things and headed outside to see if I could spot her in the football fields. It was a nice day, so I figured she would be with the other cheerleaders. I couldn't even scent her anywhere in the halls. My mind was so preoccupied with trying to get outside that I didn't realize I bumped into her best friend, Ceasar. "Sorry, Mr. Henderson. I didn't see you there." He probably didn't see me or care to as he was too busy typing away on his phone. "It's all good, Ceasar." "Have a good day, Mr. Henderson." "Actually, Ceasar, have you seen Sawyer?" "No. She's not at school today." "Thank y
I grabbed her hand, and it felt glorious. Her hand fit in mine perfectly. The bond felt better than I could have imagined. I grabbed it without thinking of Shy, though. Sawyer must have felt something off because as quickly as I grabbed it, she was just as quick to let go. She was perfect, though, composing herself and introducing herself to Shy like a true Luna would despite the awkwardness. Shy saw the hand hold, and that was my first mistake because she went off on Sawyer. It didn't have to mean anything, but she wolves, especially dating Alphas, are quite possessive. They know if their not fated to us that they really are disposable. "Shy!" I called out after chasing after her, "can you stop and talk to me?" "Talk to you! How dare you!" "What did I do?" "I saw the way you looked at her, the way you held her hand. Why would you bring your next conquest here while you still have a girlfriend?" "I didn't! We just met." "She means more to you than that. Be honest, Krew
The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed after having one of the best sleeps of my life. It was as if my nerves and thoughts finally quieted and relaxed me. "It's because I've been suppressed this whole time. Now we can let our true self be free." "I don't know about that yet. I don't think humans are supposed to know about us." "No, but we can find a pack to live in! We can be surrounded by our own. We can live free there." "I don't know the first thing about a pack or werewolves. Maybe I should mention something to Ma and Pa?" "Hmm, they are wolves." "Their what!?" "Their wolves too, can't you smell them?" "Is that what the new smell in the house is?" "Yes, everyone has a unique smell to them as a wolf. Usually, it is quite an earthy scent. Your mate, however, will smell differently. Of smells that really speak to you." "I don't think I should let Ma and Pa know just yet. They always told me not to take off the necklace. If I won't put it back on, then I sh
I could feel eyes on me as I dangled my feet in the water. I didn't want to give whoever it was the satisfaction that I knew right away. Instead, I sniffed the air and could smell her sweet scent. My mate. I looked up and stared in the direction that I could feel she was standing. I couldn't see anything. Her wolf must be a tracker and a good one at that. I stared and started to slowly get up, but that's when she took off. Her emotions are raw and uncontrolled right now. She needs to listen to her wolf right now for guidance. I can't push too hard, or I will scare her away. That would be the worst thing I could do. So I stood and stretched before taking my pants off and jumping into the cold water for a swim. I needed to relax my mind. I couldn't believe it when she asked me to come watch her practice or even when she asked me to come back to her place. When I got into her room and her scent hit me as hard as it did, I wanted to jump her, mark her, make her mine. Then she as
Krewe ended up coming to practice. He sat in the bleachers, and I waved to him as I ran towards the cheer squad. "I don't think Tom's going to be too happy seeing that guy here," Cassandra said with a sneer. "Why would Tom care?" I scanned the field for Tom. His jersey number was 22, but I hadn't caught sight of him yet. "Why!?" She scoffed, "Maybe because that guy hit him." She folded her arms across her chest. "I didn't know about any of that." "Yea, because you're always leaving your man for others to take care of. Where were you later that night when that went down?" "I had gone home. I wasn't feeling well." "Mhmm. Anyways, girls, let's get started." I looked up to Krewe sitting on the bleachers and wondered why he would have done such a thing. He smiled, so I politely waved back before beginning practice. "Hey babe! How's it going?" Tom put his arm around me after practice ended. "Where did you come from? I didn't see you when I got here?" "I was probably st
