The Bond Has Been Formed.

Narrator's POV

Gasping, Daphne took a step back in shock, how had the bond been formed that fast? He had yet to mark her, to be sure, her hands went to the dent between her neck and shoulders. Nothing. He had not marked her without her consent. She couldn't help but wonder if he felt it too.

"The bond has been formed", he voiced her suspicion out but he did not look half as confused as she did,

"How?", her voice was barely above a whisper as she thought of how this was remotely possible. She had been taught that the bond starts very slow unless the female is marked by the male once she has been chosen. It could take months, even years if otherwise but this was only the third day and the bond between the two was completely formed.

He took a step closer to her, "I am the alpha king Daphne, the alpha blood mixed with the royal blood in my veins makes the procedure a lot quicker for me". Even with his explanation, she was still confused and speechless. Still pondering on his words, a scent filled her nostrils and invaded every part of her organs making her weak in the legs. It was the smell of fresh pine and cinnamon... It was his scent brought unto her by the mate bond.

He too had clearly taken in her scent as well and it affected him just as much as it had affected her. She smelt of freshly picked strawberries and roses, to him, she smelt as beautiful as she looked. He went ahead to touch her again and this time she leaned into him, craving it and yearning for it.

She had been captured by him and she knew there was No way out of this, the bond had been created and from now on she knew she could not live without him, and neither could he live without her.

As her scent wafted through the air, he was tempted to mark her, claiming his territory on her for other males to see. Just one little bite... But he knew better. His chosen was not like other girls that would just jump at the chance of receiving his mark with or without permission. She would make him work for it, fight for it, beg and plead for it and he was willing to do so. He had made up his mind that he would do whatever to get his mark on her but most especially, with her consent.

A knock sounded on the door, snapping them both out of their dazed trances, "Who is it?", the alpha king growled out, what was so important that this person ruined such a beautiful moment for them!

"My lord, I apologize if I intruded. I just wanted to ensure that my lady was prepared", Sarah said from the other side of the door, she was too afraid too enter, knowing that the alpha king was pissed at her. Remembering that she had not even started getting ready for the day, Daphne let out a sigh,

"I should really start getting ready", she told him and he nodded in understanding as he himself was still dressed in only a towel covering the lower region of his body.

"Very well then, I shall see you for breakfast, I suppose?", she nodded so he rounded her and went into the dressing room to wear proper clothes.

As Daphne was in the shower, she had a lot of things running through her mind but the one that topped it off was how she had started to sprout new feelings for Dwayne. Was it because of the mate bond? Was it because he had this unknown kindness that he had only shown to her? Or was it because he had shamelessly declared his own affection towards her? Was it like or love? Infatuation or lust?

Shaking her head, she knew it was impossible for her to just fall in love with him. Maybe she had growing feelings for him but it certainly was not love, in fact, love was completely out of the picture for her.

Maybe along the way, she thought to herself, she could love him when she gets to know him. Maybe she liked him, it was possible she did and her stubborn self could not see it. Did this make her like all those other girls in the ballroom? Just as pathetic as they were? Swooning over somebody they had never met and liking him for power.

No. She did not like him for his power. To hell with his title. She did not like the alpha king but Dwayne himself. She was the only person that had seen that side of him, the kind and caring side of him. Others had seen the ruthless and vengeful side of him. He could not show that side to others for they will think he is weak and unfit to rule, so that side would only be directed to his mate and his mate alone.

She had gotten ready silently, still deep in her thoughts as this was all still fresh to her, she also wondered how her life turned into this. She could remember just three days ago, she had woken up in her parent's little two storied house. Her mother had told her they were coming here and it was mandatory, she had purposely spilled coffee on the white dress her mother had set out for her and dressed in her own style. Next thing she knew, she was the alpha king's chosen and she had been waking up to the most comfortable bed ever. She even lived in the castle? She Daphne Ro-Edwards lived in the castle!

As shocking as it sounded, Dwayne had changed her perspective on everything. The castle didn't seem as chocked up as it felt the day before, she did not feel like a prisoner although she was highly guarded, she had also realised that it was wise to start getting used to this place. The bond had been formed and there was no going back.
