Murray's Fury

As I was busy thinking about that guy, I noticed Angel’s skeptical face. Her shoulders were loose and one of her brows was raised.

“What happened to you?” I asked her, trying to hide the truth as much as possible.

“What happened to me? What happened to you?!” She corrected my statement with a sassy tone in her voice.

“After being near the border walls, you are acting completely strange. You are just looking lost.” She spoke her mind out.

I broke eye contact with her. I knew she was my best friend but I did not have the courage to speak about that guy to her… which was indeed strange since I used to share everything with her since we were small kids.

I did not know what was happening to me but my mind rejected the idea of even mentioning the guy go her. I needed to know more and after that I would automatically come along and let Angel know everything… I just needed to meet up with that human.

“No, I’m fine. I must be stressed about the wedding, that’s it.” I attempted to steer the conversation in my favour.

Suddenly, Angel popped her eyes out. She was completely shocked after I mentioned about my wedding with Ivan.

“Oh my goodness! You are late for your dinner with Ivan!” she reminded me of the dreaded evening I had to spend with Ivan and my family.

My entire day was swallowed with darkness. I had no desire to get back home and sit at the dining table with that man. He was a thorn in my life. My hopes of finding my one true mate were crushed because of his obsession with marrying me.

I scoffed and marched ahead of Angel as my mind was filled with anger. If only there was a way to get out of this mess… to get away from Ivan.

The glorious moon took over the sky as the two of us finally reached my mansion.

“Well, I’ll see you later… hopefully.” I said with annoyance while waving my hand goodbye.

“I hope so… Good luck!” she smiled at me before taking off to her own home.

With a deep breath, I mustered enough courage to ring the door bell. It was quite a stressful few seconds before someone answered the door.

I noticed my mother opening the door slightly and giving me a shocked and worried expression. I gulped the saliva accumulating in my mouth as I knew something was about to happen.

“Mom?” I questioned, looking confused at the scene.

It was at that point, the door open wide, revealing a furious dad in front of mom. I knew I was in for a shout at that moment.

“Carmen? Where the hell were you?” My dad started to yell at me. His face displayed an enraged look as his veins were popping in anger.

I lowered my head, not knowing what to exactly say. Not a single word escaped my mouth as I kept on taking every single word dad was throwing at me.

“Don’t you know how important tonight is? Ivan is coming over and you don’t seem to even give a damn about it! I swear, you better not upset him before your wedding!” Dad warned me with bloodshot eyes. It was as if something had taken over him. He was way too invested in pleasing Ivan more than anything.

This time, I had a lot to say to him about Ivan but the lack of courage in me, forced me not to. Dad’s anger was too much for me to handle and I knew that if I were to open my mouth, something bad was bound to happen.

“Now get in at once! And go change your clothes! Make sure you look beautiful for him.” Dad ordered as he pointed his finger upstairs where my room was located.

With a sight, I complied and slowly walked up to my room. Once I reached my room, I shut my door with force. My heart was beating rapidly out of my chest as I held my head in sorrow.

Oh how I hated myself for not being able to say anything to my dad. I was grinding at my teeth.

It was infuriating that my dad could not understand that marrying that jerk would just ruin my life. Heck, I would not have a life.

A small droplet of tear formed in my eye out of anger for my mistreatment. It was too much to handle. I could not take it anymore.

My knees grew weak, making me sit on the floor. It took a few minutes but my face was blank with dried up tears on my face.

I appeared like a defeated warrior. Like I had given up. I wanted to close my eyes and fall asleep, escaping from dining with Ivan.

As my eye lids were twitching, my mind was flooded with memories of that guy from the human society. His face and body were all I could see.

I was dozing in but got a jerk as my mom yelled at me from the outside to hurry up.

I became alert this time and got right into thinking. There was something about that guy that was making my mind occupied with him. I desired to meet him no matter what.

Although I knew he was human, a small chat with him wouldn’t hurt. Plus, it was not necessary for him to know I was a werewolf. I had control over my transformation so exposing myself was not an issue for me.

I got up from my sorry ass, feeling determined. It was my goal to meet him… my desire as well. I knew what I had to do the next day.

Now, I had to go and show Ivan whose boss. It was one dinner and I just wanted to finish it off.

My desire of meeting that man, fuelled me to dress up for Ivan.

“Carmen?! They have arrived at the door! Get out already!” I heard my mom yell in frustration as the door bell rang in the background.

I had just put on my outfit and had no time to apply any sort of makeup, so I had to go with what I had.

Pushing the door open, my mom was standing still, all dressed up.

“Where is your makeup?” My mom question in horror.

I rolled my eyes, “It does not matter anymore, there was no time”

My mom was disappointed at me but I could not worry about it. I had to quickly get this dinner over with to prepare myself for the next day.

As mom and I arrived down the staircase, there I saw my dad standing with Ivan at the entry way.
