Who Will Help Me?

Venessa's POV

I woke up and looked around my hotel room. It felt different waking up in a place that wasn't my mate's home after so long. I turned my head to the window. The sun hadn't yet risen. I looked at the clock in my room, it was barely past 3am.

I lay awake thinking. Had I gotten far enough from my mate? What if I didn't find a good job here? What if my baby and I died?

"No Venessa! Don't think such thoughts," I told myself. I got up and headed to the sink. I turned on the tap but there was no water. I tried the shower but the same thing was the case. I sighed exasperatedly. I tried to call room service but the landline was disconnected.

Great! First day in Texas and everything was already going so well. I rolled my eyes and put my clothes on and headed to the front desk.

There was a brunette lady sitting at the computer. I saw the blue light reflect in her eyes and I saw the reflection of a game in them. She was playing solitaire. It took a cough from me before she could notice my presence. She looked up at me with a kind of scorn in her eyes.

"Excuse me, sorry for disturbing you, but there is no water running in my room."

She didn't even answer me. She immediately wrinkled her nose and took a sniff of me. I was agitated. I knew I smelled a bit and I took a hasty shower before bed.

"Excuse me. Didn't you hear me before? There isn't water running in my room."

Her reply was unexpected.

"You aren't of this pack."

"Excuse me?"

She stood up and took another whiff of me.

"You are not of this pack," she said a little louder.

I meekly bent my head. I didn't know what to say.

"Guards!"

Before I knew it, I was surrounded by three muscular guards. I didn't know what move to make.

"Take her away! She is an intruder!"

They immediately cuffed me and led me away. I was terrified. I had only just arrived in Texas and now things were going wrong. Was I destined to be ill-fated. They led me outside and roughly stuffed me inside a black van. I tried to scream but my mouth was immediately stuffed with a black cloth. Where were they taking me too? I was so nervous and scared that I began to have a panic attack. They drove far and fast. I looked out of the window but all I could see were trees for miles and miles. I tried my best to control myself and breathe normally but I was terrified. I was terrified for my baby and myself. I came here for a better life but now I was a victim in an attempted kidnapping.

After what felt like an eternity, the van came to a screeching stop. I lurched forward and hit my head on the other side of the van. The guards were heartless and they laughed at me and pulled me roughly back into a sitting position. The door was flung open and I was roughly pushed out.

I nearly tripped but one of the guards caught me and made me stand upright.

"Get moving!" he said gruffly to me and they began to lead me forward. The sun was just coming up over the horizon but there wasn't a single soul to be seen. No one that could help me out of my predicament. Infront of me was a big elegant house but we weren't going that way. Instead, the pushed me roughly to the left, behind the building, and there was a deep dark staircase. I stopped walking and resisited their pushing. There was no way I was going down there. But the hands were many and were much stronger than me. They forced me down the steps and soon I was in a dark dungeon. I screamed in fright as I felt something small and furry walk over my foot. It was dark and damp and smelly. I looked around and there was only one tiny window. I didn't want to take another step but they pushed me roughly. I struggled with them but they pushed me into a cell and locked the door. What had I done to deserve this treatment?

"What have I done?! Let me out!" I screamed as I shock the bars of my cell.

"What are you doing here? What pack are you from?"

"That's none of your business!"

"You better tell us, little spy!"

"I am no spy! Let me out!"

The guards chuckled at my obstinace. I honestly didn't see what was amusing.

"If you don't want to tell us who you are or what pack you're from, then you can rot here."

"Wait! I wish to see the Alpha of this pack. I'll only relay my answers to him."

"No. You have to tell us then we will tell our Alpha."

"Screw you all! Let me out right now!"

I shock the cell more violently but all they did was laugh harder. Soon they walked away, leaving me alone in the dark with the rats and filth. What was all this? Through the small window, I could see the light of the sun seeping in. The sky was bright and along with it's brightness, I could see the real horror of the dungeon. Rats scurried everywhere. I saw a pair barring their teeth at each other, preparing for a heated battle. I saw some bones in the corner of my cell. They were probably human bones. "These wolves were savages!" I thought to myself.

I sank to the floor. I was alone and helpless. I came to Texas for a better life for me and my unborn child but now I was in a cell with rats as my only companions. Truly the Moon-Goddess had made me ill-fated. I put my head in my hands and cried my heart out. Who would help me out now?
