Chapter 4

The kiss lasted for what felt like forever. He put his head against mine as I tried to catch my breath. His green eyes finally locked into mine, and they were the most beautiful ones I had laid on.

"Hi," I greeted him as he looked my lips one last time. As he kissed my lips again as if never getting enough of them.

"I missed your scent,"He said as he took a very deep breath in, and then he sighed.

"Thank you for standing with me today," I said to him as he looked at me as if he admired me.

"It was nothing, I'll always stand with you, darling," He said as he tooky hands in his and looked at me worried.

"What's wrong?" I asked as I held his face in mine.

"The council has made their decision. If I don't get a mate at the next mate ball that they are hosting, then they'll force me to mate with some Lycan princess from another state."

"Oh," I said as my wolf howled in disapproval inside my mind, and I was definitely not happy about her mate with someone else.

" So I'll claim you as my mate next week," He said as I looked at him. "What if I won't make it to the ball?" I asked definitely, not liking the answer.

"Then, I'll forcefully take you, forcefully mate with you and forcefully make you mine, you see it's that easy, darling," He said with a sinister smirk I had never seen before. It was like he knew exactly what was on my mind that moment.

"Besides I gave you two years and, I think now I'm just giving you some free pass time, which you'll obviously have to make up for," He said as he headed for the door.

"Don't make me come and get you, It won't be a nice visit," He warns as he finally leaves, I stood there shocked as I took the time to process what he just said.

"Forcefully take me! Forcefully mate me and forcefully make me his. Can you believe it!!" I vented to Jules as he rolled his eyes at me.

"Yes, I can believe it, You both agreed on two years and it's been two years and months so yes I can believe it, Look Ave, I get that you're enjoying this but you need him or else you die and none of us want that, " he said in a very serious tone.

I looked away from him. He was right, I did need him for the sake of my life. I had thought about rejecting him or even killing myself, but that would definitely be crazy. My mother's wolf was dying, and her personality was slowly deteriorating. She was just getting numb day by day, and I hated that.

I just couldn't be her, not in this lifetime. I really don't know why the mate goddess had to give me a king for a mate, moreover, a Lycan for that part.

How was I going to lead an entire nation of creatures? I knew nothing about being a queen, and I definitely didn't want to know.

We finally got to our pack, and I immediately went to my mother's room and knocked. "Come in," She answered.

My mother was lying on her bed, the now bed ridden woman she was. Her face was pale, her lips dry and her eyes losing their spark.

"What do I owe you the pleasure today?" My mother asked.

I just laid next to her and silently let her play with my hair.

"M... mother, I have a confession to make," I said as I took a deep breath.

"I... finally found him.My mate-" I said as she cute off with a "Finally." I guess she has been waiting for this day all her life.

All her friend's daughters were off with their mate while me-her daughter had no mate at all, which became very worrisome to her, which is why she would also force me to go to every party that was thrown.

"But, I don't want him," I said as she stopped brushing my hair.

"Mhmm,what? But you will die or even go crazy.The moon goddess doesn't play with her curses," She said, referring to herself.

"P.. Please, promise me that...that you will go to your destined one, please?" She begged as I nodded.

After that, I finally left her room and was informed by a guard that my visitor had arrived. I smiled as I went to meet the unknown visitor.

"You really have changed a lot,Mina," I smiled as we hugged each other.

It felt good to have old company again.

"Is that a...uhmm.." I said as she smiled at me.

"Yes, it is what you think it is. Congrats, you're going to be a godmother," She said as she hugged me.

Who would have thought that Mina would become a mother.

"Wow, times really do change , don't they?" I said as we both sat down.

"So,the female Alpha is suddenly having a hard time finding a mate?" She asked as she was surprised when I told her that I was still mateless, but we both knew that was BS.

"Yes, yes, definitely," I said as the maid put a tray of tea on our table and went away.

"Mhmm,I fail to believe that, I thought maybe the King was your -" She said as she held her chin.

"He is or was," I stated, not really sure how to put it.

"Oh, so did you guys have a fight or something," She asked, all confused.

"No, we're fine,look..." I continued as I told her everything that has happened for the past two years.

"I see," She said as she nodded. She definitely was like Nancy Drew, just the Werewolf version.

"So , what's holding you up right now, I mean it's a miracle that your still alive, some don't even take up to two years to live," She stated the obvious which I also started to explain.

"I know, I...I just don't want to end up like my mother, what if..." I said as the rest of the words withered. I just couldn't say them out loud.

She sighed and looked at me. " Look, you are the most brave person I know, and I would strongly advise you not to let your fears get in the way of your future. For now, just enjoy the moment and cherish them,okay?"

I looked at her and nodded. We chatted about how life has been, and after two hours, she finally left.

I sighed because the day of the ball was slowly getting closer and closer.

I mean, it's just a ball, right? What could go wrong other than seeing jealous girls trying to get your mate's attention, but that's was not what that day held for me.
