Chapter 1

I ran very deep into the woods as the Red Lycan kept on chasing me. I got tripped by a branch and fell to the ground. I quickly turned around as I saw the Red Lycan come closer to me. Looking at me like it was about to devour it's last piece of meat.

This war wasn't supposed to backfire this way. Everything was supposed to go according to plan but it didn't. All the higher ranks, soldiers and warriors have all been killed by this monster.

How? I don't know, it all happened so fast I couldn't process what just happened. The only thing in my head are my father's words: Run!

So that's all I was doing for the past two hours, I've been running away from a Lycan that never stopped chasing me.

I knew I had to survive for the sake of my mother and little brother back at home. The pack would be devastated to learn that their Alpha, my father was killed in this war. Mostly my mother, her mate just passed on and now my brother and I were fatherless.

I quickly forced my painful body to move to the nearest tree as the Red Lycan continued coming close to me each time a shifted back.

As my back finally hit the tree, I closed my eyes accepting defeat, ready for it to eat me. I heard the biggest howl come from my side and that was all before my eyes turned black.

I woke up and found the Red Lycan on the ground, not moving and dead.

How did it die? I thought to myself. I wish my wolf was awake right now to keep me warm but she has been not respond and I think it's because of the Wolfsbane that some of the warriors died from.

I looked around my surroundings, it was still dark. The moon was my only source of light. Then out of nowhere I felt a presence behind me.

I quickly turned around and tried to run away but it lunged at me and my head hit the ground. It growled and I silently prayed it didn't kill me.

Until I finally saw it. The Lycan it had blue reddish eyes and was very big compared to the one it just killed. This was definitely a rare breed which I have never heard of. Probably a hybrid of some sort and definitely more dangerous than the Red Lycan that was chasing me earlier.

It looked at me silently as if studying me. I was nervous but made sure not to make any movement just to safe myself. And then it clicked, this was the Lycan that saved me.

Lycans were a very rare and dangerous breed but where I was from we were used to them ever since the alliance my father made with them.

Our pack, the Silvermist pack had a war going on and that war that happened earlier was one of them. There were two Lycan groups: The blue Lycan and Red Lycan.

My father thought it would be great if they formed an alliance with the Blue Lycan to defeat the Red because they were always trespassing in our Pack and would sometimes Rob the sellers at the markets which was what pissed my father off but sadly the blue Lycans never came they betrayed us.

The Lycan standing in front of me did the most unexpected thing: it licked me. I stared at it in Awe as it took a few steps back probably thinking I was offended. I heard howls coming from a distance and the Lycan turned around but glanced at me one last time and followed the howl from the other side.

I had to find my way back home and thankfully I did. It took me exactly a two days to get home. The pain in my body was just unbearable and it worried me that my wolf wasn't responding at all.

I entered the gate as the guards looked at me in horror.One of them came to help me by balancing my body until I got to the village.

There were a lot of villagers waiting but as they saw me enter alone. They knew that I was the only survivor and that's when the sound of loud cries started.

I understood them and felt their pain but the trauma that I faced was nothing compared to any of them. My mother slowly approached me and gently hugged me careful not to hurt me.

She cried as I just looked blankly on the floor. It sure is painful but right now I just couldn't feel anything. My body just went numb.

"Oh, my dear thank god you are alive," My mother said as she cried nonstop. I saw my younger brother and he looked scared to even look at me.

He slowly approached me'?" Where's... Where's dad?" he asked as my mother hugged him tightly. Poor him didn't know.

My mother included him in our hugged as she cried and grieved the death of her mate. I definitely knew from that moment that my mother wouldn't be the same ever again.

"So what now?All the warriors are gone, the Alpha,Gamma and Belta are all gone!" An elder asked in the crowd as they all silently looked at us.

"We appoint new ones and from now on the leader of this pack will be my daughter until her little brother turns eighteen she will be the Alpha." My mother said with a serious expression on her face as she wiped her tears.

"But It is rare for a girl to be an Alpha besides she is still sixteen"The elder said to my mother.

"I know that but since I am the Luna you all do as I say, now prepare for the ceremony in a few days" My mother said as she took us to the house.

A few weeks has passed and I am already on duty. Honestly speaking, it is really hard being a female Alpha because all these male Alphas really think that they are all it.

All they tried to do is shut me down. And all of this is just because I'm just a girl.

"So, are you ready for the mate ball? It's going to be a huge event since the Lycan King is hosting this for the first time in history."My mother said with a smirk on her face.

"Mon, I am not going to such a thing,I now have responsibilities I need to take care of," I said to her annoyed she would even bring such a thing after we've just buried almost all the men in our pack.

"Look, I know how hard this is but just go, atleast have some fresh air, you're still young you know." She said as she kissed my forehead.

"I know, Ma but ..." She silently cut me off as she lifted my head.

"No, but at least do this for me, okay?" She said as I nodded. I would do anything for her because she was my only family now.

"Good," She said as she went out of the office while I continued working.
