Chapter 5

I can't say I got enough rest last night. Jules had been very excited about the Grand ball tonight. But something was definitely going to be different this time. I woke up to find Jules holding a big box with a bow on it. I opened to find a very beautiful black dress inside it and all I wanted to do was wipe the smig off Jule's face.

The ball was being held in the Lycan territory for the first time in ages. And I guess everyone was going to attend, including the Lycans, which was definitely new.

As we came out of the carts, I met Dylan at the door.

"You look magnificent," he said as he looked at the red strapless satin gown I was wearing. I looked at him as he added one sentence that made my heart stop. " He will definitely be lucky to have you as a Queen."

Well, Dylan is technically my best friend, so yes, he did know that Maxwell was my mate and the day he found out. It definitely is a day I want to forget, so I will not dwell on it.

We walked inside the Hand King's house and, to say it was beautiful, was an understatement. I didn't know that Lycans lived this luxury. The king's beta definitely was a lucky man. Unlike us werewolves, the Lycans had more luxurious houses, mostly for those with higher positions.

Well, since a lot of Alphas and packs from around the world were coming, we were in a long queue where the Herald was announcing names of the people who arrived, but seriously, it was not like the Lycans really cared about us. Lycans and Werewolves never really got along, and it has been that way for centuries. Lycans and Werewolves only needed each other when it came to wars they knew they couldn't win.

As it was finally our turn, we entered the beautiful house. Dylan was my partner today, and he definitely helped my nerves cool down while Jules went with Dylan's Beta, Carolina.

To say the place was spontaneous was an understandment. It had a sparkling queenbee chandelier with small portraits of men. As we went down the short stairs, we saw a lot of people, mostly Lycans, since my wolve could sense it.

This party definitely was one big one. The ladies were dressed to impress. The men were dressed their best despite how nervous they female wolves were. They smiled and mingled with other Alphas and betas.

"I guess a lot of these females want to be Queen." Dylan stated with a smirk as he looked around the beautiful place.

"Alpha Dylan," a voice said as we turned around. It was a male with blonde hair and gold eyes that were shining through his white and gold mask . He definitely was a lycan of high authority judging by the aura radiating of him.

"Gamma Amiri," Dylan greeted with a bow as I looked at the man with confusion.

"This is the King's Gamma," Dylan introduced, and that suddenly explained the authority radiating off of him. I quickly bowed down in greetings.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, gamma," I said as he did a quick bow.

"The pleasure is mostly mine, Your Highness." He said, and I looked at him, surprised as he gave me a knowing smile.

"How did..." He cut me off as he answered. " Maxwell talks fondly of you, the Council may not know, but both his friends know," He said as a beautiful female with golden locks joined us.

"Amiri, sweetie,there you are, I've been looking for you everywhere," She said as she kissed his cheek as if we were not there watching. If looks could kill, then the young lady would be dead on the spot.

"Ah, you must be our guests. It's a pleasure to meet you both, Alphas. It's been long since such an event happened," She said with the fakest smile anyone has ever plastered.

" Wow, where have you gotten your necklace,..." Just as I was about to answer "Ahh it's definitely the most cheapest diamond I have ever seen. Well, mine is the Cullinan diamond, very expensive." She said as she showed it off.

"Wow,it's very beautiful," I said because yeah, it was true, and it was definitely expensive. She continued as she put her arm around Amir. "My bo boo had it specifically made for me," She said as an annoyed Amir was trying to tell her to shut up.

The courier announced as the hosts of the ball finally arrived, and they were both beautiful. The wonderful couple graced the people with the biggest smile. It was obvious they were mates just by the way they were looking at each other.

"Finally, here comes our hosters," Amiri said with a smirk on his face. As they descended down the stairs, they came straight towards us as all the people looked at them.

"Gamma Amir," He greeted Amiri, who pulled him into a hug.

"Guess who I'm standing next to, Kareem?" He said as he put a shoulder around the beta.

"It's a pleasure to meet you both," he said as he sized me up and down and did a quick bow "It's a pleasure to meet our future Queen," He said as he quickly kissed my hand.

"Yeah, I would advise you not to do that,Kareem," Gamma Amiri said as Kareem's mate, who I now knew as Selene, gave him a glare.

"You know I only love you, kardia mou," He said, as he quickly kissed her neck.

"You two should get a room before things go west," Amiri said to the lovers as they gave him a glare as my stomach felt a little giddy, something I was used to.

Yep, Amiri definitely was the funny one in the group.

"I know announce to you the young royals of Romanica, Princess Isadora, and Prince Isaac," the courier said as the trumpets busted through the hall.

Princess Isadora wore a Royal grecian white with a gold dress that showed her flawless long legs with her black styled hair. If I didn't say that half of the male population here was mesmerized by her beauty, that would be a lie.

The royals both descended down the stairs with smiles gracing their masked faces as all the werewolves and Lycans of lower ranks bowed down. A ping of jealousy swelled in my stomach. Perhaps this was the girl Maxwell was going to marry if he didn't find me.

As they finally descended down the stairs , the courier announced again that the Lycan King himself was finally here, even though I felt it. I couldn't let the Princess slip out my mind easily. My wolve was angry, and it needed blood now, but I tried to let the thought of them together of my mind.

He gracefully walked down the stairs, his beautiful stern face showing no emotions. His eyes only showed determination as if he would let nothing get in his way.

We all bowed down as the trumpets busted again for their king. He descended down and stood with the Prince and Princess of Romanica. Was this some sort of joke?

We finally stood up as the King himself announced, "Evening everyone and welcome. It is such an honor to have all the werewolves here after a long time. It hives me an immense pleasure to see everyone here tonight," He said as his eyes scanned the room and finally landed on me. "Thank you for being here and enjoy the ball," He said as the people all slapped their hands.

"Well, the King finally arrives," Gamma Amiri said as the King finally approached us.

Well today was certainly going to be a long day.
