Chapter 3 - Wounded/Ability

Zenalie’s POV

Endrée was not in the palace when I arrived. His men told me that he went to search for his mate. He found his mate!

The fact that he found his mate made me panic. I was supposed to be the only one for him. I was to turn twenty-five next month and we were gonna be together as one just as traditioned. That was the plan! This was all not part of the plan.

“You! Do you know anything about her? About this woman? If you know anything about her then spill it out! I have no time to waste!” I shouted to the guard who was appointed to guard that witch. He looked at me and then avoided my gaze. I fiercely glared at him.

“No, I don’t know anything about her aside from the fact that she is a witch, Lady Zenalie,” he replied and shrugged his shoulders. I growled in frustration. I scowled and stormed away. What a useless guard! They're all useless and pathetic! They knew nothing about where the King went so what's their use?

How am I suppose to make a move when I don’t know anything? All I know is that she escaped and that my King ran after her.

I clenched my fist and talked to my subordinates through telepathy. If I don’t know anything then I’ll do anything my way. Just like in the game of chess, a queen can do anything.

She’ll come to me. All I need is an effective bait and I happen to know the best bait of all. She’s a young witch, she must’ve ran away from home. Her parents must be very worried for her.

“All the vampires and werewolves who are loyal to me, I want you all to know that I have news of something. When I heard of it, it hurt me so much that the thought of it makes me want to die. This news makes my skin crawl and it maddens me,” I said and they all look curiously at me.

“I have news that my King has found his mate,” I stated and they all exclaimed in surprise and then their expression turned to anger, “She’s a witch! Can you believe it? A witch! And now my dear beloved King ran after her and left me here, all alone in the palace,” I said and held my head as tears welled up in my eyes. I peaked through my fingers and I saw their expressions turning hostile.

“Kill her! We must burn her! You are our only Luna!” they all shouted in unison. I stared at them. My heart beat faster with pure joy.

“But your King does not want me anymore. That witch stole him away from me. That is why I have decided to exact my revenge on her!” I exclaimed. They expectantly looked up at me and I smiled.

“For her to come to me on her own; I must have a very effective bait. With that in mind, I command all of you who are loyal to me to help me find her parents! Search for them in every nook and cranny of the forest. Everything. Don’t stop until we find her!” I exclaimed as I stated. They raised their arms as they cheered for me. I smirked as I watched the scene in front of me.

That woman will never be able to compare to me and the power that I have. She won the battle but she will never win the war.

“Luna, there is a pack that helps witches, the Savage Wolves Pack. I knew about it from a source. Maybe they know about her parents or maybe she ran away from that pack just to meet the Lycan King!” a vampire subordinate said and he gazed at me, expecting me to praise him. The others looked at me expectantly.

“That was a very good job. You deserve a praise. We must do this in a manner that no one will be suspicious of us. I don’t want anyone to make the Lycan King worry,” I said and walked towards Endrée’s throne. I ran my hand on the surface of the gigantic throne and caressed it.

I shall rule this pack and with him and no one else. I am the only one fitted to rule this place with him. I am the only one who deserves to have that crown above my head!

I turned around and faced them. They quickly went outside to get ready. I went to Endrée’s room and looked at his portrait. His face which resembled handsome features and the beautiful contours is stoic and devoid of any emotion.

“You know that you belong to me, right? You promised me. I’ll be yours and you’ll be mine. That woman needs to be out of the picture for me to get everything that I ever wanted. For us to be together like what you always told me. You should know this. You have to. You promised to give me the world,” I said as my gaze lingered on his face.

I turned around and I jumped out of the window. I landed on my all fours and I gazed at my subordinates.

“All of you, to the Savage Wolves Pack’s territory! We have to reach the place by dawn!” I yelled as the werewolves shifted. My blue eyes turned red as blood and we dashed towards the forest.

This palace is mine. The Lycan King is mine. I won’t let that woman take away everything that I ever wanted.

Rynari’s POV

Me and Derrick are discussing plans on how to stop this war. He told me that the plan he had was to distract the Lycan King by helping me escape but he said that we would need help from other werewolves. He can’t do anything if it’s just the two of us.

It’s hard to keep up with Derrick especially because he can shift to his wolf. It’s hard to keep up with his human form because he is way bigger than me, but it’s even harder for me to keep up with his wolf form. I feel like a burden to him but he said that he doesn’t mind.

He suggested that I ride his back but I am not comfortable with that. He would say that it was just him trying to help me but I don’t think that it’s a good idea.

His Alpha is my mate. I don’t think that I should be close to his Beta. But why should I care? Endrée wishes to kill me anyway. Derrick was a really kind guy to save me. I decided to agree riding his back when I realized that.

“Derrick, I’m hungry. I want to eat something that totally makes up for the days I haven’t eaten,” I whispered as my stomach grumbled and he shushed me as the rabbit we’ve been following hopped. We’ve been hunting this past few days but it all ended in vain. I was not comfortable killing animals and then eating them. My mom would force me to eat meat but I never could. It just seems so cruel.

We stopped moving when we heard a voice and the rustling of leaves not so far away from us. What is that? I became alert and Derrick told me to stay low.

He shifted to his wolf and signaled for me to keep close to him. I did as he instructed. I looked around.

“…Ahhh…f*ck!...”

We ran towards where the sound came from. He panicked as he stared at us. He threw a stone and I quickly dodged it.

“Who the f*ck are you? Stay away from me! Take a step closer to me and you’re dead! Ahhh!” the wounded stranger screamed at us. He exclaimed and held his stomach as he winced. He looked so pale. It looked like he was about to die due to extreme blood loss.

“No, we aren’t bad people! We only followed the sound of your voice. We swear. You look like you lost a lot of blood. M-maybe we could help you,” I nervously said as I took a step closer to him. The guy panted and he shook his head. He was sweating so much.

“Please, I’m really worried. Let me help you,” I assured him. He finally nodded and tried to sit up but he howled in pain when he tried to move.

“Derrick, help me assist him,” I yelled at Derrick. He finally went closer and shifted to his human form. He observed him for a moment and I beckoned him to come closer to us.

“Do you have a med kit?” I asked Derrick and he nodded his head and searched for it inside his backpack.

I observed the stranger. He looked younger than me. Derrick started to dress his wound. He still has that distrustful look in his face.

“What’s your name?” I asked him. He looked reluctant to say anything but after a few seconds, he finally decided to spill the beans.

“I’m the son of the Alpha of the Savage Wolves Pack. My name’s Kairo Ross Cruz. My pack got attacked a week ago and I don’t know what happened to them. My pack members helped me escape before their leader could find me,” he stated and I nodded my head as I processed what he said.

“Do you have an idea who it could be? Any idea of who might have a grudge on your pack?” I asked him.

“No, I have no idea. But maybe if we come back to investigate then we might know. Maybe it’s because we helped witches but it was supposed to be a secret. My father could never bear the thought of the Lycan King killing them. I’m also worried about them. Their pack members looked really big in their wolf forms. And they have vampires with them, too. I honestly thought that it was the Lycan King’s pack members but I have no proof yet. That is why I need to go back; to find out the truth behind the attack and who's behind it. I also have to make sure that my pack members are still alive,” he said. His green eyes had a glint of determination.

I nodded and moved my hand to lean on the ground. I yelped when my hand touched something sharp. I looked at it. My hand is wounded. I looked at the wound and my heart shook. I hate blood.

Kairo suddenly screamed and I immediately covered his mouth with my wounded hand. He was wincing from the pain. He suddenly moved his tongue. I was shocked when he licked my hand. I quickly put my hand away. He licked his lips and looked at me in amazement, his eyes widened as he gazed at me.

“What’s wrong? Why’d you lick me?” I asked him. He bit his lip and after a few seconds, he finally spoke.

“Your blood. My body felt better when I tasted it. The pain I was feeling vanished like it never existed,” he admitted and I looked at Derrick. We stared at each other and gave each other quizzical looks. Derrick shrugged his shoulders and then he faced Kairo. Derrick immediately checked his wound and was shocked to find that his wound was completely healed.

“What? How can you heal someone who drinks your blood? Where did you learn this? Is this your ability?” Derrick asked in bewilderment as he looked at me.

“I don’t know how. I know that I am a witch but I never knew I could do that!” I exclaimed. Derrick and Kairo looked at me.

“We’ll know about this later. For now, we should go to Kairo’s pack territory. I’m curious as to why wolves and vampires are attacking other packs. Endrée must’ve made plans behind my back. Otherwise, I would know about this,” Derrick stated as he paced back and forth.

“Maybe he searched for us there,” I said. Derrick shook his head.

“No, the Lycan King will not just attack an entire pack just like that, even if something serious happened. He is rational when it comes to his fellow werewolves,” he stated. He exhaled and he looked at me.

We turned our heads to look at Kairo when he suddenly spoke.

“You guys are from the Warlord Wolves Pack?” he nervously asked us as he slowly backed away. He looked frightened and is about to run away.

“No, we are escapees! We are running away from the Lycan King. We plan to stop him from burning witches and to stop the wars!” I answered with a gesture of my hand and he sighed in relief.

“So what do we do now?” I asked them.

“We’ll know when we get there. For now, we must build strength,” Derrick stated and we nodded.

After that, we began to wander the forest and search for food. Kairo, Derrick and I became closer as we travelled towards our destination.
