The Ancient Moon Pack

Alyssa

Go. Now. Run. Run. Go. Run. Don’t look back. I run faster and harder without looking back. Fear overwhelms me. I don’t know if I can make it.

I hear loud howls and growls behind me, but I must listen to my father and not stop.

I need to survive.

I need to get back safely to the pack.

I hear a loud growl behind me, causing me to stop. I know that voice.

The growl is coming from a different direction. I know who it is.

Father. I whimper, knowing he might not have survived.

Father. She wants to turn back and run to him.

“No! NO! No! I whimper, running back to him.

“Alyssa! Alyssa! Wake up” Someone shakes me by my shoulders, bringing me back from my slumber. I struggle to wake up, shaking my head as tears roll down the slits of my eyes.

“Alyssa!”

‘Ah!’

I can’t breathe. It’s a dream. I realise, but my heart is racing fast, sweat on my forehead and my omega’s eye are trailing on me with a look of concern.

“Alyssa. Are you Okay?” Frey asks me with a concerned look on my face while holding on to my shoulders. I shift in my seat, sitting comfortably as I look around.

I realise it was just a dream. Freya is here, and so is Diego. I hold my chest, looking at them.

The nightmare.

The nightmare that haunts me every time. This time, it felt real. Twelve years of the same nightmare.

“Yes. I am fine.” I look out the window of the car. View of the Ancient Moon pack Kingdom comes into view as I sigh heavily, and I didn’t even realise that I had fallen asleep.

The view of the city leaves a powerful impression on me as I smile at myself, looking at the place where I was going to be spending the next few weeks.

I have looked forward to the day that I can finally come here. I adore the place. Jason, who is the Alpha, comes annually here but has never taken me with him.

Now that I had turned twenty-one years, he thought it would this year if I joined him. At only sixteen years I had to take on the role of Luna not because I wanted to but because my brother had no Luna.

For the last five years, I have had to fulfil the duties of a Luna. A mother to people.

The motorcade comes to a stop as I look ahead, wondering what was happening.

“What’s wrong?” I asked Diego, wanting to look ahead.

“It’s a security checkpoint before getting into the city,” He replies with a smile as I nod my head. I have never been here, but Diego knows all the details here.

He has been accompanying Jason for years. Two men carrying guns approach their vehicle as Diego rolls down the window.

“Identification please,” the husky voice says, and I am is curious as to what is next. Bringing out his hand, they use a scanner to scan his wrist.

“Kindly confirm your details”

“Diego Alvarez. Beta to Alpha Jason Walsh of the goldcrest Guardians Pack,” He confirmed the details.

“Let them through!” The guard shouts the gates opening slowly for them, and they drove into the territory.

It was like it took me to middle age but with advanced technology. Buildings looked gloomy yet so beautiful, we were rich but this was next-level rich.

I couldn’t believe my eyes. I have always known the place was a fortress, but never like this. “It’s so beautiful,” I beamed with a smile rolling down my window.

Parking in front of the hotel, I saw Jason and his entourage step out of their vehicles and I also got out of the car.

From the stairs descended a woman dressed elegantly in a shimmering gown with another young lady by his side and the man formally dressed in a black suit. It is good I changed my outfit on the plane.

I approached Jason, and I smiled at him. My nerves were all over the place, unsure how I would need to carry myself around them. We held these people to a high standard.

We considered them royalty despite us being the ones being of loyalty, but their ability to manipulate the weather and gravity is what has earned them the respect they have.

They are the only people known to live for over 100 years and not age like ordinary werewolves... I wondered how old the king might be. I knew his age but couldn’t bring myself to guess the correct age.

. Be calm. Don’t worry. They are kind people, Jason reassured me through their mind link.

I gave him an assuring smile, offering me his arm to take. I gladly took it before making my way with my Jason towards the king.

I held on tight to the hem of my chiffon sleeveless dress.

“Good evening Jason,” the king grinned when he approached Jason, pulling him into a hug.

“King Theodore. What a pleasure to see you once again” Jason beamed with a smile, letting go of me standing awkwardly stood by his side. The two men briefly hugged before he pulled away.

“Please meet my sister. Alyssa. You remember her, right?” Jason placed his arm around my waist.

“Of course! Little Alyssa!” He grinned with a smile. I bowed my head in respect to the king. Jason went on to greet the queen and the young lady, who is the king’s daughter.

“It is an honour to meet you, your majesty” I managed to curl up my lips into a smile as the king chuckled.

“It is an honour as well. Your brothers always speak highly of you,” He replied, bringing my hand to his lips and kissing the top of my hand.

“Please come on in.” he gestured for them to walk with him inside the building, top-to-bottom walls made of glass so transparent that you can see everything that is happening inside the building.

With my arm wrapped around my arm, I can’t keep but wonder what the rest of the compound looks like. I would love to just shift and run around in the woods.

“You have a beautiful city” I beamed, looking outside as the king chuckled.

“Indeed.”

He replied, continuing to walk.

“Is King Marcelo going to be gracing us with his presence this year?” Jason asked the king.

“Well. We are not certain. He never responded to the letter,” the King replied.

The Lycan King? Did they invite him? The cold-blooded killer was invited to the convention? I wondered, following behind.

If at all the Lycan will be here, I made a note to make sure that I avoid them at all costs. They were ruthless and dominant.

We have sworn enemies. Jason shouldn’t be happy about this. He hated King Marcelo because of his way of leading people. The man was merciless.

“King Marcelo? The Lycan King? I thought he didn’t attend the convention?” I mind linked my Jason.

“Yes. But it seems the rogue attacks are a matter of concern. So makes sense to invite him.” He replied, and I wondered what would happen if at all the man was here.

“Calliope will show you to your room,” the queen said, holding me by my arm. I let go of my Jason, walking with the queen to the guest rooms.

“The suites are this way” Calliope led us to the suites, Freya was waiting for me in my room and they brought the luggage up.

“Why don’t you go freshen up in your room? I will call you if I need you,” I yawned, making my way to the window. They gave me a room with delightful views of the city.

Inhaling deeply, the smell of Lavender hit my nostrils. It’s a beautiful scent. I know Ligia loves flowers. She would rather be in the woods than be anywhere here.

‘Let’s go for a walk. I feel cramped up’ Ligia says as I sigh, I have been exhausted and I know this will do us some good, but I don’t want to start roaming around.

‘There’s a garden close by,’ she insists.

It would do us some good, especially since she has been restless.
