7. Takoa

“Get us to our jet. Now! I want the hospital staff to be waiting for us as we land.” I demand as I peer down at her soft face. I’ve never seen such a species with soft brown skin and bone white hair. I softly caress a lock of her hair, pushing it away from her closed eyes. She snuggles into me as her breathing regulates. I can’t even imagine what she has endured. I’m just glad I was there to take her away from all of this.

Minutes later, we make it onto the tarmac, and our jet is on standby. My warriors quickly grabbed the bags as I carried her up to the cabin. Our jet sits fifteen people, plus it has a bedroom in the back. I carry her to the back and lay her on the bed. I tucked her in, needing a drink and to talk with my Beta.

Once she snuggles into the pillow, I sneak out to the main cabin. Ryne is on his computer, working quickly.

“Sir, we have her name. Kemira Logan and she is twenty years old. Her file is pretty bare, but I’ll keep digging.” I nod.

“I want to know what she ate for breakfast three months ago. No detail will be left out.” I demand as I pace back and forth.

“Yes, my king. Also, your father has been trying to reach you.” Ryne holds his phone. I reach for it to call my father when I hear her screams. We take off running for the bedroom. She is tossing and turning. Having a nightmare. I walk towards her with trepidation.

“Takoa, your bond will soothe her.” He reminds me as I exhale and sit next to her. I take her in my arms and rock her. Stroking her hair as her screams settle down.

‘What the hell did they do to her, and what will it require of me to help her?’ I speak to Ryne as he looks upon her with sadness.

‘You will do what’s best. You always do.’ He replies, leaving the room to give us privacy.

About three hours later, we landed back home in Vancouver. An IV was placed on her to flush out some of the toxins. It seemed to help her sleep, but Ryne and the onboard doctor said it was me. Only Doc and Ryne know she is my mate.

It will be very important to keep this information a secret. I am a powerful king, and she seems quite delicate. Everything I never wanted in a mate. My enemies will use that against me. They will use her against me to try and take over. This is very bad. I have to speak with my parents right away. I am on the cusp of taking over, and now I have a broken and abused mate that I can not turn away from.

First things first. I need to get her to the hospital and then around-the-clock protection. Then I needed to kill whoever did this to her.

I carry her down the steps of the plane and onto a gurney awaiting us. I climb into the ambulance as we ride through the city, headed to the royal hospital.

As we make it to the hospital, they take us around to the private entrance. I follow her inside and meet my parents in the lobby.

“Son, what happened? Who is she?” My father looks at the small frame of a woman lying on the gurney being taken into the hospital for evaluation.

“We need to talk. Privately.” I walk towards one of the rooms on the floor with added soundproofing. As we enter, the guards watch the room. I assign Ryne to stay by her side until I’m done here. My parents look as confused as I have been for the last few hours.

“Her name is Kemira, and I found her chained inside a bedroom on the Alpha hall. She has been abused and drugged, and I don’t even want to know the details. I am barely holding Fin back as it is. But she is also my mate.” Both of my parents gasped at the revelation.

“Oh my goddess. The poor girl! We will be here for her for anything she needs.” My mother holds on to my arm.

“Son, we need to get to the bottom of what happened to her. Are you sure it was an alpha that did this to her?”

“She hasn’t gained consciousness since I met her. Alpha Leopold said he would help find whoever did this to her. But it’s their wing of the castle. Nothing is done without them knowing. It is either Alpha Leopold or his son Alpha Lev.” I reply as Fin gets my attention. He needs to be near her. Now.

“Okay, go be with your mate. I will look into the accusations.” My father tells me as he holds my mother’s hand.

“I need this kept just between us. She is the perfect being to be used against me. No one will know who she is. Just that we saved her from her original pack with plans to relocate her.” I tell them both.

“Son, your strength comes from her, and vice versa. It will be good to speak it out loud.” My mother stated.

“This is exactly the reason I did not want a mate. Because of all I would have to deal with if she weren’t strong enough.” I begin.

“She survived horrors you have no idea about. She seems pretty damn strong to me.” My mom adds. I bite my tongue and decide to let it go for now. Fin and I need to see her.

I sit in her room as she sleeps. The drugs are being flushed out of her body. The doctors have done a full examination, and we are awaiting to make sure she is okay. Her hair lies in soft curls around her face on the pillow. She looks like a beautiful doll. You would never know all that she has been through. Hell, I don’t know what she has been through. But I will sit here patiently waiting for her to open her eyes. So I can hear her tell me her story.
