My head was pounding. I opened one eye and immediately closed it again.

"Alive?"

Angelina's voice came from somewhere beside me.

"Barely."

She laughed. I dragged the blanket over my face.

"Go away."

"Good morning to you too."

"I don't remember inviting you."

"You married me."

"That sounds like something I would regret."

She pulled the blanket away. I squinted at her. She was already dressed, standing beside the bed with her arms crossed, and somehow looked like she'd slept twelve peaceful

LucaI read the scroll twice. Then a third time. The handwriting was unmistakably Austin's, and there wasn't much written on it — which somehow made it worse.*You wanted to know what happens when people stop believing the crown has the right to decide everything. Now you have your answer. Do not rush. People who speak when they are drunk are easy to notice. People who speak when they are sober are the ones you should remember. Find out who believes in you. Do not ask them to choose you. Let them tell you why they already have.*I lowered the scroll. Angelina was watching me from across the room."What did he say?""Nothing important."Her eyebrows lifted. "That was a very long scroll for something unimportant."I folded it away. "He wants me to be careful.""About?""People."She smiled faintly. "That sounds like Austin." She hadn't meant anything by it, but I couldn't stop thinking about how easily he'd understood exactly what was happening here. He hadn't asked me to rebel. He hadn

LucaMy head was pounding. I opened one eye and immediately closed it again."Alive?"Angelina's voice came from somewhere beside me."Barely."She laughed. I dragged the blanket over my face."Go away.""Good morning to you too.""I don't remember inviting you.""You married me.""That sounds like something I would regret."She pulled the blanket away. I squinted at her. She was already dressed, standing beside the bed with her arms crossed, and somehow looked like she'd slept twelve peaceful hours instead of surviving the same night I had."You look disgustingly cheerful.""And you look disgusting."I stared at her. She smiled innocently."You smell like wine.""I was drinking.""I noticed.""You were drinking too.""I had two glasses.""Three.""Two.""Three."She narrowed her eyes."You were counting?""I remember everything.""Then you should remember falling into the fountain."I sat up."I did not fall.""You walked into it.""There is a difference.""A very small one."I grabb

AustinThe gates opened before I even reached them.I rode through the familiar streets of my kingdom, barely acknowledging the guards who bowed as I passed. I had been gone long enough for things to pile up, and I already knew I would have a stack of reports waiting for me.But there was one person I expected to see before any of that.Swayer.He was standing outside the palace when I arrived, dressed in his usual black uniform, his expression as unreadable as ever.I climbed down from my horse."Welcome back, Your Majesty.""Tell me everything."Swayer fell into step beside me as we entered the palace."Nothing major happened while you were gone. The northern packs settled their territory dispute. The western pack requested more guards along their border, and the council has been asking when you're returning.""Of course they have.""There was also a minor disagreement between two elders regarding the trade routes.""Handle it.""I already did."I glanced at him."You always make my

I felt it first—the slow, inevitable rekindling of heat low in my belly. The bond hummed, restless. Satisfied, but nowhere near finished. Garret’s breathing changed against my skin. I felt the shift in him through the bond: the way his body was already responding again, the deep, instinctive need that came with a fresh mating. One time was never going to be enough. Not for us. Not tonight. His hand slid down my side, slow and possessive. When he lifted his head, his eyes were darker than before, the gold of his Lycan nature flickering at the edges.“We’re not done,” he said, voice rough with certainty.I didn’t answer with words. I pulled him back down and kissed him, open and hungry. A low, approving growl rumbled in his chest.Instead of rolling me on top of him right away, he kissed a path down my throat, over the still-sensitive mark, between my breasts, lower. His mouth trailed hot and open across my stomach. I felt the deliberate drag of his tongue just above the place where I w

EvelynThe deeper we walked into the forest, the quieter everything became. The music from the palace faded until only the soft crunch of leaves and the occasional rustle of branches remained. Then the trees opened into a small clearing.Someone had prepared it beautifully. A large cream-colored blanket covered the grass beneath an old tree, soft cushions scattered across it, little lanterns hanging from the lower branches. Their warm light mixed with the silver moonlight. White flowers had been scattered around the blanket. A small wooden table held a bottle of wine, two glasses, fresh fruit, and a few sweets.I turned toward Garret.“Did you know about this?”He shook his head. “No.”“Neither did I.”“Good.”I smiled. “Why good?”“Because for a moment I thought everyone knew what we were supposed to do tonight except me.”I laughed and walked toward the blanket. “So you were nervous.”“I’ve been nervous since this morning.”I picked up one of the glasses. “And you hid it well.”“I h

EvelynI had faced warriors twice my size without feeling this nervous. Yet standing in front of the mirror, I couldn't stop touching the edge of my dress."You're going to ruin it."I looked at Angelina through the mirror."I barely touched it.""You've touched it six times."I dropped my hands. Angelina smiled and adjusted the silver flower in my hair."There."I looked at myself again. The dress was ivory, soft and light enough that it moved with every small shift of my body. The fitted bodice hugged my waist before falling into a long, flowing skirt, tiny silver flowers embroidered along the fabric so delicately they looked scattered there by hand rather than stitched. The sleeves were sheer, reaching my wrists, traced in silver at the edges. My hair fell mostly loose down my back, a few strands pinned away from my face by small silver blossoms.I looked like someone out of one of the old fairytales. Just not one I had ever imagined myself living.Angelina stepped back."You're be
