Celia

I blinked at the words of the Matron as she folded her hands.

Was it not done yet?

She held the vial in the moonlight for a second, letting the blood glisten a little in the pale light before she emptied it into the lake.

The water did not sizzle this time but the red drops stayed on the water, gliding on the surface as if they were on a surface of wax before they began to drizzle down in the pond.

Jasper looked at the water and then at the Matron who closed her eyes and murmured something.

I would have spent my time gawking at Jasper but something began to take shape in the water, something began to swirl.

The water droplets began to churn, creating a small whirlpool of sorts and then something began to form.

Just like that something popped out of the water like popcorn and was thrown out of the lake. It landed on the soft mud, a few feet away from me.

I squinted my eyes to get a better look.

It was some sort of circular thing that landed on the mud and I bent down to pick it
