Carson POV It was finally time; Marly was going to officially be mine. The King and Queen had made a special visit to attend the ceremony. We had not gone public with who Marly was, but they wanted to be here to support her. And I know it was special for Marly to have them in attendance. I had been pacing most of the day. Jeff had finally suggested a run, which we did. We ran the perimeter ensuring all warriors were in place to ensure a secure event. We had royalty with us so that meant extra security. It had been odd having additional security for Marly, but it added a level of comfort knowing we had the extra to support us. “Are you ready?” Jeff asked as he walked up to me. “I have been ready since I met this woman,” I admitted. I loved Marly and could not wait to have this ceremony as proof of my love and support for her. I knew Jenna and Elder Timothy were still lingering around, but together, we would get through th
Marly POV It had been a couple of days since the attack. Everything was getting back to normal; or as normal as it could get. The King had made the difficult decision to return to the palace to address some concerns there. He did not leave before he had a team of guards left behind to help Carson manage the Rogue situation. And I knew it was also to leave additional protection for me. After much discussion, the King had decided to come clean about his brother to the public. He wanted to acknowledge that he had two children, twins, who were kidnapped at birth. And the reasons why he and the Queen had not known it had happened. There was a huge outpouring of love for the King and Queen, which helped them start the healing process. We had made the choice not to have me announced as his daughter until we were able to find their son – my brother. It would be easier to make that announcement with both of us standing with him. And
Marly POV I spent the better part of an hour searching for Carson. I finally found him at the gym, beating the crap out of a punching bag. “Carson,” I said softly. I knew he had heard me from the bunching of his muscles, but he continued to pommel the bag. I could see the blood dripping from his knuckles as he had not wrapped his hands before he started to punish the bag. “I am sorry,” I said, as I got closer. He continued to punch the bag, but his punches got softer. Less intense. I moved closer, sensing his anger had exhausted itself and wrapped my arms around his waist, “I am sorry,” I whispered as I kissed the middle of his back. I did not care that he was a sweaty mess. It was a turn on watching him workout, and his scent was sending me into a whirlwind. He stopped his movements, placing his hands on mine. “I cannot lose you,” he said softly, just standing there letting me hold him tightly. “You will
Marly POV It took a couple of hours to cure the remaining warriors but once the last was cured, we all breathed a sigh of relief. There were some close calls, but my help had not been required beyond helping Cole. As we moved towards Sarah’s room, Jeff was just coming out. “I need to get Sarah some food, do you mind sitting with her, Luna?” he asked me. “Of course,” I responded, as I moved inside the room. The lights were dim, and I could tell Jeff had been hoping Sarah would fall asleep. She was sitting up in the bed, playing with the blanket draped over her. “What are you thinking about?” I asked her, as I took the seat beside her bed. “I am thinking of all the destruction, of the fight and I am thinking of my baby,” she whispered as I reached my hand over to cover hers. “I do not understand how I did not know I was pregnant,” she said, as emotion filled her voice. “I think it was almost too soon to know,
Carson POV My heart raced as we watched the doctor administer the antidote to Cole. I knew it had to be done, but I was terrified for my Gamma. Had we made the right choice? Had the medical team taken as much time as they needed to prepare the antidote? Regardless of what she said, I did not want Marly having to heal Cole. She had scared me when she did not wake up. The thoughts of losing her are debilitating. We all seemed to be holding our breath as the doctor stepped away from Cole and waited. I was surprised at how ashen Cole had looked when we walked in. He looked like he was near death. “When will we know if it is working?” Marly asked. Jeff had taken Sarah back to her room, not wanting her to see how close to death she had been. “Given the severity of his situation, we should see some basic improvements quickly,” he commented before alarms started going off, “What is happening?” I asked of the doct
Marly POV Waking in Carson’s arms gave me a peace I had never felt before. “How is Sarah?” I asked softly, waiting for the news. “I have not heard yet. I have been focused on you,” Carson admitted, as if afraid to believe I was actually talking to him. “You scared me that time,” he said, as I held onto his body tighter. “I am back,” I assured him, trying to take away the fear that was in both of us. “What happened?” Carson asked. “I was healing Sarah and then suddenly I was exhausted and trying to exit her body, when I got stuck,” I admitted. I saw the frown on Carson’s face, and I moved to softly rub the frown lines from his brow. “No more, Marly. I cannot take another scare like this, and I will not lose you,” he responded. “Carson, if I can help, I need to help,” I shared with him, trying to make him see reason. “No, I forbid it,” he said archaically. I chuckled, “Carson, you did not just forbid me to
