Carson POV
“Mate? Didn’t your mate die in a tragic rogue attack?” Alpha Luke taunted me. I felt my claws start to extend from my hands as Kane started to take over. Taking a moment to breathe, I calmed Kane down, before responding to the bastard standing in front of me. “It would seem I am being given a second chance mate,” I replied coldly.
The Alpha had a look of discomfort cross his face, as the young Alpha stood taller. “That is not possible, she is mine!” he exclaimed as his father whipped his head around to glare at him. “Are you telling me you rejected your fated mate?” I asked softly. I knew I had thought about rejection, but I wanted to know why she had been.
“She is not strong enough. She is an Omega with no wolf,” Alpha Luke stated. I slowly moved my look to him and watched him sweat under my stare. “Surely she could have taken on her Luna duties, and learned to be a strong warrior?” I asked. “She has no skills, no training, and most definitely is not Luna material,” Alpha Luke rhymed off.
I felt sorry for this woman. I knew as the Lycan leader, I would need a strong wolf to lead with me. But I had always been prepared to accept whomever my mate was. In my case, I had gotten lucky. My fated mate had been of Beta blood and had been trained to be a Luna.
I gave my head a shake. I could no longer live in the past. “If I heard correctly, I heard you reject her,” I reminded the two Alphas. The young Alpha could not help himself, “She is going to stay on as my mistress and have my pups,” he relayed proudly. “Like bloody hell she is!” I roared.
Both men immediately bared their necks to me, showing respect for my Lycan, Kane, who had shown what he was made of. I did not care for these two and the thoughts of leaving anybody to that type of fate was beneath us. “I want to see the woman,” I said to Alpha Luke.
He shook his head, “She is not able to receive visitors,” he started to say as I sighed and moved to stand in front of him. “Get out of my fucking way, or I will move you myself,” I said. The guards had already moved, leaving the closed door unprotected. I heard Jeff come up behind me, “What is it, Alpha?” he asked.
I glanced at him and saw his mate beside him. “It seems my second chance mate is being held against her will behind this door. I was about to enter the room, isn’t that right Alpha Luke?” I challenged. Luke’s face went red with rage, as Maxwell started to whine. I ignored them both, leaving Jeff to ensure they did not disturb me.
I moved forward opening the door and slipping inside the room. I shut the door behind me before I looked around. Curled up in a ball was my mate. Her scent was strong, and it was causing butterflies in my stomach. I had forgotten what it was like to find your mate. Or perhaps when I had met my fated mate, the experience had not been as strong.
Either way, I was compelled to move forward and help the young woman before me. I slowly kneeled in front of her, pulling her close to my chest and standing with her in my arms. The sparks between us bounced back, causing my dick to harden. I looked down at the young woman in my arms and was stunned by her beauty.
She was curvy in all the right places. Her lips were plump, perfect for kissing. Her nose perky. Her cheeks were flushed. Her neck slightly exposed to where a mate’s mark would go. I could hardly wait to see what color her eyes were. To see if they went with this beauty in my arms. I moved to sit in one of the chairs at the table and simply watched as my mate slept in my arms.
As I was admiring the beauty before me, I missed when her eyes opened. I heard her gasp, and her body tighten, trying to escape me. “Wait a minute,” I murmured, as I tried to ensure she did not fall from my arms. I waited for her to recognize me, but she was so panicked, she had not smelled my scent yet.
“Who are you?” she demanded as she moved to stand before me. “You do not recognize me?” I asked. “Are you so important, I should recognize you?” she replied shakily. I smiled at her, “You should know who I am yes, but that was not what I meant,” I responded.
She took a deep breath in at that moment, and then her eyes looked alarmed. She was scared. A part of me was broken on her behalf. Being rejected can be traumatic for anybody, but for an Omega it can be harder. “This is not possible,” she started muttering as she paced back and forth in front of me.
“I just got rejected,” she said, looking at me for answers. “I do not know why, simply that it has happened,” I replied. Tears started to fill her eyes, “Why don’t you get it over with?” she asked me, sounding dejected. “Get what over with?” I asked.
“Reject me, already.”.

Marly POV My heart was racing at the thoughts of another rejection so soon after the last one. The pain had been incredible – nothing I had experienced before, and now it was going to happen again. Clearing his throat, the man in front of me drew my attention to him. This was it. It was happening. “I do not know that you would survive another rejection,” he replied, bluntly. I looked at him, “Oh,” was all I could muster out of my mouth. “When will you do it?” I asked. “I have never met a woman so quick to be rejected,” he said with a smile. I looked at him and realized what an attractive man he was. Maxwell was a boy, where this was a grown man who looked like he knew what life was about. “I need to leave here, sooner than later,” I stated. “Why is that?” he questioned. “If I stay, the Alpha is going to make me his mistress,” I whispered. I heard a soft growl, and looked at the man, startled by what I was hearing.
Carson POV I held Marly with one hand, while grabbing the hand and snapping the wrist of the man who had just dared to touch my mate. I heard him scream in pain, as I released him and watched as a woman ran to his side. “How dare you!” she screamed as she tried to help the man. “She cannot be your mate. She is Maxwell’s mate,” the man bit out, as he held his hand to his chest. “She is no longer his mate; he rejected her,” I stated to the couple. They gasped in shock looking between me and Marly. “She is just an Omega. Why would a man like you, want her?” the man spit out. I set Marly on her feet and stepped in front of Marly protecting her from these evil people. “Who the hell are you?” I commanded. The man cleared his throat, “We are her parents. And we apologize for the chaos she has created,” he said, as if somehow pacifying me with his words. “Apologize for what? Being rejected? That is hardly her f

Marly POV I sat there in stunned silence as Cassie’s words echoed in my mind. “What is the Alpha Lycan going to do with an Omega?”. She must have been mistaken. Who was the Alpha Lycan? Had she confused me being with the other man? Was he the Alpha Lycan. I stood paralyzed in shock and fear. There is no way I could go with them now. I would be treated far worse there then here. There is nothing but horrible things that happen to pack members at the Full Moon Pack. The temper. The temper of the Alpha Lycan. Had he not realized I was an Omega? He knew I was, but what game was he playing? Did he need a slave there? Oh, my Goddess … not a breeder! I stepped away from Carson only to have him take a hold of my hand, before I could move any further away. I felt the sparks move between us, reassuring me of something that I knew was not real. “What happens between me and my mate is our business,” Carson replied coldly.
Carson POV I hated this situation. I hated the look on Marly’s face as I replied to her question. This situation was complicated. I was in a tenuous position in my jurisdiction. I was expected to be a strong leader. A leader feared by those outside of my personal pack. I had to admit, Marly did not seem to have it in her to be feared. “Perhaps you could dummy it down for me,” Marly stated angrily. I looked at her in surprise. My mate had a backbone and was most definitely not impressed with my attempt to spare her. “Marly, there are expectations of me. Expectations that may be different from those in the other jurisdictions,” I started to say when she cut me off. “Then why bother taking me with you? They were right. Reject me now, and at least I would know the hell I have to face,” she replied coldly. I could see her lip quiver and I knew she was trying to be brave. She had been through a lot in one night. The pain of
Marly POV I sat there in stunned silence as the pain burned in my heart. Watching my mate with another woman in his arms hurt more than I could have expected. Not interested in waiting, I growled and threw the vehicle door open. I stepped out before anybody could help me out. I heard a growl from inside the vehicle but did not pay it any attention. In another time I would have been thrilled with my surroundings. I had never left the Red Pines Pack before. To see something new was exciting. This pack house was pristine. It was massive and looked like it was a warm and welcoming place. Before I could move forward, I felt someone at my side. I looked to see Sarah there with an apologetic smile on her face. I looked away. She reminded me of my past, and the reality that this was not my future. I felt sparks on my arm and was reminded of unfinished business with the Alpha. I looked at him expecting to see hi
Marly POV I staggered backwards under the pressure of the slap. I put a hand to my cheek and held it on the throbbing spot on my face. “What the hell?” I demanded, as I watched the woman walk into the room and slam my door. She locked it behind her, and caused me a moment of panic as I took in her stance, “Who are you?” she asked me. “Who the hell are you?” I replied. She looked me up and down. I was still in my torn dress with Carson’s suit jacket covering my body. “I am the Luna of the Full Moon Pack,” she responded proudly. I looked at her, “My understanding is that you are the acting Luna,” I said calmly. Seeing her face go red gave me a brief moment of happiness, until she grabbed the jacket and ripped it from my body. A chill rolled over my body, as I simply stood there in shock. “You heard wrong,” she stated, before repeating, “Who are you and why are you wearing Carson’s jacket?” she demanded. She had no authority
Carson POV I heard Marly’s door slam and sat up in bed pulling on my gym shorts. Had she stormed out of her room? Was she not tired after the trip and the day she had? I opened my door but saw nothing so perhaps she had simply gone back to her room. I started to close the door when I heard voices coming from across the hall. I walked over and stood for a moment. She knew nobody so it would make no sense that she would have anybody visit with her. I was just about to knock when I heard something hit the wall hard. I pounded on the door, “Marly?” I shouted, trying to listen for her reply. There was nothing. I started slamming my body against the door, cursing the strength of our buildings to withstand an attack. I heard more crashing inside the room and knew I needed to get in there. I raised my foot and slammed it into the door handle. The wood splintered and the door flew open. I was able to enter the room.
Marly POV Before I could respond, Jenna was spitting and sputtering, “King, she is nothing more than a weak Omega!” she exclaimed. The King whipped around, “Are you implying I would not recognize my own kind when I see them?” he asked, stepping into her space. Jenna cowered, while Elder Timothy spoke up. “All royals are accounted for. None were kidnapped; how could this be remotely possible?” he inquired. The King looked to me, “I do not know, but I will find out. You will come with me young lady. It is clear you are not safe here,” he said, while I stood there in stunned silence. “You are not taking her anywhere,” Carson replied, as the King looked at him. “This royal has been kidnapped, abused, and now she deserves to find out who she really is,” he summarized as if this was the end of the conversation. I stood there for a moment, before I was shaken from my shock. “No,” I said softly. They continued ar
Carson POV I knew I should have handled Jenna better, but she had pissed me off in her assumptions. I needed to arrange a conversation with the Elders to advise I would be hosting Marly’s ceremony within the week. I knew that would come with its own challenges, but I was prepared to stand up for my mate. We went back to our room, showered and got ready for breakfast. As we were finishing, I received word that the King would be arriving within the hour. Wanting to prepare with Jeff, I looked to Marly, “The King will be here shortly. Let’s go so we can prepare for the meeting,” I suggested. Marly stood, as did Jeff and Sarah. As we went to exit the room, I saw Elder Timothy making a bee line towards me. I sighed inwardly, as I tried to avoid him. He sped up blocking my exit. “What is the meaning of this?” I asked Timothy. “You know damn well what the meaning is. Why have you shut Jenna out? As the Luna of this Pack, the
Marly POV I stretched, feeling delicious soreness between my legs. Every minute with Carson was heaven, and I was grateful to the Moon Goddess for bringing him to me. I reached over to Carson’s side of the bed and was disappointed when I felt an empty space. I opened my eyes and looked around. Carson was not here. As I was about to call out to him, the washroom door opened, and Carson walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist. With a pout, I looked at him, “I wanted to have a shower with you,” I said. Carson looked up, not realizing I was awake. He smiled as he came over and gave me a good morning kiss that curled my toes. ‘We will shower together later; I need to get to the training grounds,” he said. I looked at him, “When will I start training?” I asked excitedly, as I swung my feet out of the bed. I was a little embarrassed at being naked, but Carson came up to stand in front of me, “Never be embarrassed in fro
Carson POV I waited for confirmation from our witch, that a spell had been placed on the young Alpha. Receiving confirmation, I looked to Marly, seeing her asleep in bed. She was exhausted, and I had laid with her until she fell asleep. I shut the door to our room, and went to open the main door, allowing Jeff and Sarah to enter. “What did you find?” I asked softly. They recognized the need to be quiet, and spoke quietly as well. “Jenna and Elder Timothy are suspect; but Jenna did only visit the new mom today at the hospital. Elder Timothy tried to get in to see Alpha Maxwell, but was not permitted in,” he shared. “What does he want with the Alpha?” I considered, as we all sat down in the sitting area. “Sarah, does anything stand out to you?” I asked, knowing she had more knowledge of the Alpha. “The only thing he could want with Maxwell would be to build an alliance,” she suggested. “An alliance how?” I q
Marly POV I had fear racing through my body. I knew this was necessary, but I also knew it was going to result in more challenges. Challenges I was not prepared to face. I knew Carson was strong, and would be prepared to fight for us, but was I strong enough to fight for us as well? “You are strong enough,” Layla assured me in my mind. “What good is being able to read someone’s past, if I cannot get close enough to them?” I questioned. “Marly, seeing the past is but one of your talents. Talents grow with the person and the wolf. You need to gain confidence in your abilities. You are more than you believe you are,” she shared with me. “What does that mean?” I asked, curious about what the future held. “I cannot tell you any more than that. Just trust me and promise me that you will fight for our future,” she said, as she slipped back in my mind. As if the conversation ended, I realized we were at the hospital doors.
Carson POV I took Marly’s hand and knew she was reluctant to go and see her ex-mate. “I will not leave you,” I promised her again as she went with me out the pack house door and towards the hospital. “I could wait in the hall for you,” she suggested, as I shook my head. “Until this is figured out, I am not letting you out of my sight,” I told her. We walked into the hospital, in time to see Jenna and Elder Timothy leaving the hospital. “What the hell are you two doing here?” I demanded. Jenna looked to Timothy, who simply shook his head, “We were visiting a new mother,” he advised. “Why would an Elder take on that responsibility?” I questioned, knowing they were both full of shit. No newborns had been brought into this world. I would have been advised. “As Luna, I take my responsibilities seriously,” Jenna replied, sounding offended at my lack of compassion. As I left them both, with Marly close at my side, I saw the doctor,
Marly POV “You are the missing sister,” I replied, watching her reaction. She looked embarrassed, ashamed and then angry. “I am hardly missing,” she stated, as she stared at me defiantly, continuing to look after Maxwell. “Why did you kidnap me?” I asked, watching her reaction. She looked at me with anger, “Your mate has my father; therefore, until your mate gives him back, you will suffer,” she said, as she turned her glare on Carson. I looked to Carson. They did not realize their father was dead. I looked to her, “Maxwell knows your father is dead,” I told her softly. She looked at me with tears in her eyes, “No, that is not true,” she whispered. “It is true. Ask him,” I encouraged her. She looked down to Maxwell. His eyes were closed, but she nudged him to open his eyes. The lies were evident on his face, “I am sorry,” he said, as the young woman started to cry.“Your father was evil and had to die,” Carson responded, n
Marly POV I could not open my eyes from the pain in my head. What had happened? I had been hit, and I blacked out. But not before I saw her. I was still confused about what had happened, but I needed to open my eyes and figure out where I was. As I opened my eyes, I realized it was pitch black. I was trapped in something. I paused and listened for clues as to where I was. I was moving, but the air was stuffy. I could hear people talking but could not make out what they were saying. I groaned as I tried to focus. I felt the movement slow down and then speed up again. A vehicle. I am in the trunk of a vehicle, I realize. Where are they taking me and why? I cannot sit here and wait for them to stop. I need to try and get out of here. I feel around, trying to feel for a weapon or something I can use if they stop suddenly. Finding nothing, I realize I will need to be the weapon. “I am with you, Marly,”
Marly POV Making love with Carson was the best experience of my life. I had not known that being close with your mate would be so special. It was more than I could have hoped for, and I wanted to do it again, and often, I thought with a chuckle. Carson looked up at me with a questioning look on his face, before his face changed and I could see he was mind-linking with someone. “Fuck!” he muttered, as he moved me gently off his body. I instantly felt cold and alone, “What is wrong?” I asked, getting out of the bed with him. “Rogues,” he said, as he turned to look at me. “You stay here. I will go and see what is going on,” he suggested, as I shook my head. “No, I want to go with you. We both know I am stronger than we thought. I can help,” I said, moving to throw one of his t-shirts over my naked body. “Marly, it is too dangerous to have you shift until we know what is coming at us,” Carson cautioned. I simply stared at him
