LOGINSierra POV
As I stepped through the heavy oak door into the hall, I felt like I’d walked directly into a midsummer dream,I was astounded by how big and ethereal the hall was. The room didn’t just look expensive,it looked like a dream someone had spent a fortune to make real. Every corner of the hall hum with the low, elegant murmur of the crowd. I had been to busy to check out the surrounding of the venue but the inside is definitely made of money. There were at least a hundred to two hundred people in the hall. And everybody head turned towards me the moment I enter the hall. I was frozen to where I was feeling everyone gaze on me,some women looked at me with pity, some smiling at me,some with envy wishing they were in my position,I mean, who doesn't want to get married to the Don. Some men look at me with no emotion in their eyes, some with admiration, but most of them look at me like they already stripped me naked with their eyes. I encounter a lot of men like them and I teach them a lesson, but today definitely isn’t for that. "Just the woman we were looking for"I heard my father say from the front of the hall. I walked towards him,he was standing with about five men at the table he was at. "Good morning"I greeted them all. I recognised two men at the table, they were my father right hand men. "Sierra, this is Vincent, Lucas' father" he said. Then man had a menacing appearance ,I could barely look him in the eye. "Nice to meet you Sierra"he said smiling subtly He looked like he was in his fifties but he was a strikingly handsome man,he was above six feet tall. "And this is Lucas"my father said. I tipped my head to the back to look at his face. He towered over every one. He looked less like a man and more like a warning. He had a faint scar cut on the left side of his cheek adding to the dangerous edge in his expression. His eyes were unreadable ,cold enough to silence people with a single look, then suddenly as I offered him a smile,he took my left hand and guided it to his lips. I was completely taken aback as I wasn't expecting that. "Nice to officially know you Sierra"He said with a resonant tone, his lip curling upward. He had a very deep voice that could send me running off my feet. I couldn't look away from him,it was as if I was trapped by his lightning-blue eyes. He had a few inches over his father. He has a menacing appearance and a mountain peaked cheekbone and a hawkish nose with his jawline looking like it was sculpted by God himself. His gaze was icy blue, sharp enough to cut through the room He looked perfect. I was so mesmerised with him that I thought for a moment "maybe this marriage will work out after all". "We should leave you guys to get acquainted"my father said seconds before Lucas' phone rang. "I have to take this call"he said raising his phone up and then walked away. I could feel my father's anger and embarrassment from where I was standing. "Excuse me,I need to go find my mother"I said smiling at them politely. The engagement party was just another place to do business for all of the guest there. Immediately after I left their table,I took out my phone from my purse to message my best friend Mia. 'Are you at the party yet?' I sent a message to her. 'Girl, your party is lavish' she replied after a moment. 'Where are you' I sent her. Awaiting her message,I felt a tap on my back. As I turned to see who it was,I was thrown into a hug. "I have missed you"Mia said excitedly. I hugged her tightly back. "I have missed you too so much" I said back to her. After exchanging pleasantries and catching up for a while, she asked me "So,have you seen him?" "Yes,I have"I told her. "So?"she asked. "So,what?" I asked confusedly. "I mean, how was he?" She said. "Ohhhhh,he was,I mean,he is really stunning ,he is a vision of perfection "I told her. "Ohh,wow"she said. "What?"I asked her. "You look interested "she said. "No, not at all,he is handsome,I just admire his look, that is all”. I told her pointedly. "Hi, Sierra,Mia,how are you guys"Lucy said smiling as she approached us, which two ladies I do not recognise by her side. I met Lucy when I was in college and to put it short, she's a bitch. She is from the Giovanni family. She has always had a problem with Mia and I for reasons best known to her. "Hi to you too Lucy"Mia greeted her with a grin. I didn't bother to reply her. "Congratulations Sierra,I heard you are going to be Lucas' little bride" she said snarky with emphasis on his name. "Well, you heard right, you are at my engagement party" I said frankly curling my lips upward. She scowled. "Excuse us,we have to leave" I said before she could bring up her little comments. "Let's go to the restroom for a moment"I said to Mia. "That girl is a bitch"Mia said glaring in Lucy's direction. "I know, but don't let her rattle you up,that is what she wants"I told Mia. "That's true, did you see how angry she was when you said she is at your engagement party "Mia said happily"ohhh,it was satisfying ". I chuckled. "Shoot, please,I will be right back,Leo needs me"Mia said while checking her phone. Leo is Mia childhood sweetheart and they just got engaged not too long ago. "Sure,no problem"I said to her. I went into one of the toilets as soon as I got to the restroom. I heard bunch of ladies enter as soon as they swinged the door open. "That girl is not even beautiful, she is just a fat pig"I heard one of the ladies say. "I wonder why he is going to marry her,not to talk of her family been the weakest of the five main families, they are definitely not going to help his business" another one say.SIERRA POV Three days had passed since my conversation with Lucas. Three days since I walked out of his office feeling like my entire understanding of my father had been ripped apart. I still hadn’t completely recovered from it. I had barely spoken to my father since then. Not that he wanted to speak to me except it had to do with the wedding. Not because I hated him. That was the confusing part. I didn’t hate him. I was angry. Hurt. Disappointed. But somewhere underneath all of that, there I am still the little girl who remembered him holding her hand while crossing the street. The little girl who used to believe her father could do no wrong. The little girl whose her father was always the hero. Maybe that was why his betrayal hurt so much.
LUCAS POV Three days had passed since Sierra came to my office. Three days since I had watched the realization of what her father had done settle across her face. I should have forgotten about it. But I couldn’t. Instead, I found myself thinking about her more than I cared to admit. Not because I felt sorry for her. At least, that was what I told myself. I had seen plenty of people make deals they regretted some didn’t regret. I had seen fathers sacrifice sons, brothers betray brothers, and men sell their closest friends for money. Edward was no different. He had simply found a different currency. His daughter. I sat behind my desk, staring at the report in front of me. The warehouse had been quiet for the last two days. Too quiet. No unusual mo
LUCAS POV A few seconds later, the door opened again. And Sierra walked into the room. My eyes moved over her before I could stop them. She wore a top and trouser. The top hugged her body perfectly, following the curve of her waist and the trouser highlighting the shape of her hips. It was elegant, but far more revealing than necessary for a visit to my office. The fabric clung to her in all the right places, drawing attention to every curve she seemed completely unaware she was displaying. I tried to look away. I failed. My gaze lingered longer than it should have, tracing the way the dress shaped her figure before slowly moving back to her face. I couldn’t take my eyes off her. So she had finally decided to do what her father asked of her. He had sent her here to seduce me and apparently not subtle ab
LUCAS POVThe report didn't make sense. The numbers didn’t make sense.I stared at the report spread across my desk, my fingers tapping slowly against the polished wood.Three shipments. All through the same routes.Three different dates.Yet whoever was watching them had made the same mistake. They had followed the same pattern. My eyes narrowed.I picked up the first report and read it again. The shipment had left the southern warehouse at 11:40 p.m.It was supposed to go through the western warehouse but it was being followed so I changed the route. It was supposed to reach the harbor by 2:00 a.m.It never did.It was an hour late. The second shipment had followed almost the exact same route two weeks later. And the third…The third had been almost two hours late. Someone was studying my shipment patterns. That wasn’t unusual. In my world, people were always watching.Competitors wanted information. Enemies wanted weaknesses. Men who wanted what belonged to me were constantly s
SIERRA POV “Yes.” His answer came so quickly and coldly that it hurt even more. I looked at him. There wasn’t even a hint of regret in his eyes. “And that is why you will do everything I ask of you,” he added. I stared at him for a long moment. I wanted to scream. I wanted to tell him that I wasn’t a property. Neither his nor my father’s. That I wasn’t something to sell and be bought. That Lucas had no right to own me. But then I remembered the man he had killed. I remembered exactly what Lucas was capable of.
SIERRA POV “I told you before, my father asked me to come,” I said smugly. Lucas stared at me for a few seconds, his expression unreadable. Then his jaw tightened. “Why don’t you drop that bullshit?” My smugness immediately disappeared. “You are here because your father wants to use you to control me,” he said, his voice low and serious. “But that wouldn’t work.” I swallowed. “So…” He leaned back slightly, his eyes never leaving mine. “DO NOT LIE TO ME and tell me what you know about it.” The look on his face made something inside me freeze. For a brief moment, I was no longer sitting across from Lucas. I was back at the Lucchese wedding ceremony. Back to the night I had witnessed him kill a man at a ceremony. The scream of the man he stabbed with a cutlery.
