Butler Tom and the other maids in the house were feel nervous. They couldn’t stop Seraphina from helping them in the kitchen, even when they told her not to. Butler Tom just held his head because she was really stubborn.

While Seraphina was busy cleaning the plates, she suddenly thought of Devon, who had just left. She wanted to bake cookies for Devon, thinking he might get hungry when he got home. Seraphina smiled at the people in the house because she knew she was being stubborn. But all she really wanted was to help. She didn’t want to feel like someone who just stayed in the house and did nothing.

“Lady Era,” Butler Tom called her, standing behind her and watching closely. He kept telling her to stop, and it made her quietly laugh. “Lady Era, the eldest young master will punish us,” one maid said. But Seraphina just smiled and took a deep breath.

“Don’t worry, he won’t,” she said happily. Then she asked one of the maids to get the ingredients she needed. She didn’t know yet where the things for baking cookies were kept.

“Thank you,” she said politely as they all just watched her. She felt a little shy because they were watching her every move.

“I’m okay, you don’t have to watch me,” Seraphina said with a smile. They all nodded and didn’t stop her, because she was really hard to stop.

“Just call us if you need help, Lady Era,” Butler Tom said. She gave him a thumbs-up and kept working on the cookies. Then she suddenly remembered a man named Hadues. When you look at him, you can clearly tell he’s Devon’s brother. Their faces are very close in looks, but if you ask her, Devon is still the handsome one.

Devon had a good body shape, a sharp nose, thick eyebrows, red lips, and black hair. His cold attitude made him even more good-looking. Hadues looked almost exactly like his brother. But his hair was dark blue in the sunlight and looked black in the dark.

Anyone could fall for him—not just because the Donovans were rich, but because he was really handsome.

Seraphina wondered what their parents looked like because both brothers were so good-looking. When she finished the cookie dough, she placed it in the oven so it could bake right away. She suddenly remembered the two people who treated her like their own child. She didn’t know if she would see them again, now that she had left the orphanage where she used to live. She was truly thankful to them for all their help and to the orphanage too.

Seraphina had only one wish, she hoped to see those two people again someday. Those people were, Venus and Evel, the parents of the three brothers—Devon, Hadues, and Lucif. Even if Seraphina knew they wouldn’t meet soon, she still planned to keep cookies for them. Every time Venus visited with her husband Evel, they always looked for the cookies she made. And Seraphina had gotten used to saving some just for them.

________

On the other hand, it had only been an hour and a half since the meeting started. The employees of Devon were once again nervous. He was tapping his fingers on the table again, which usually meant he wasn’t happy with what was being presented.

The new representative was very scared while explaining the problems that happened while Devon was away. Someone not far from him was watching closely, his assistant, Finn and Finn noticed something different. His boss looked stressed and deep in thought while staring blankly ahead.

Finn held his face in worry, thinking, His boss doesn’t seem satisfied again?

But what they didn’t know was that Devon Donovan wasn’t paying attention at all. Since the start of the meeting, his mind had been somewhere else—thinking only about Seraphina. Devon didn’t even realize that his fingers were making noise on the table in the quiet room. He had no idea he was making everyone uncomfortable. He was too busy thinking about Seraphina’s beautiful face, especially her smile.

It was like he didn’t want to leave her. He just wanted to see her smile again. But he knew he couldn’t leave his responsibilities as the CEO of Donovan Industries. He was sure his mother would scold him if he did. Even though she was kind, she never let things slide and just like how she always scolded his father, Evel.

Sometimes Devon wondered if maybe his dad was already a little crazy… because his mom always scolded him, even for small things.

Is that what marriage is like? Always getting scolded? he thought. Or is it just my mom who’s like that?

Suddenly, everyone in the room froze and started sweating, except for Devon, who was still lost in his thoughts. It is because someone's phone rang. It wasn’t loud, but in the silent room, everyone heard it clearly. Since no one dared to speak, they all just listened. Finn signaled everyone to check their phones. They all sighed in relief when they saw the call wasn’t for them. However, they all turned their heads toward the front—toward Devon.

Could it be the boss’s phone? they wondered.

He was the only one not checking his phone. They were all confused. Devon always kept his phone on silent. Even if the call was important, he would definitely ignore it. People close to him knew this. If he didn’t answer, it meant either he wasn’t interested or he was in a serious meeting. Finn walked up to his boss, praying that the sound wasn’t coming from Devon’s phone. But when he peeked under the desk and he saw it really was Devon’s phone ringing.

He might scared but, Finn whispered to his boss, who was still daydreaming. “B-Boss… your phone… it’s ringing…”

That’s when Devon snapped out of it. He was about to get angry, but then he saw who was calling and it was the girl he had been thinking about the whole time. He answered the call without hesitation and he made a gesture to the room, asking everyone to stay silent. No one dared to speak and they were so scared they might even pee their pants if they did.

Hearing Seraphina’s voice made Devon feel warm inside. He forgot there were people in the room. Not just one or two—but many. Still, Devon didn’t care. Not when it was about his angel.

“Devon? I’m sorry, did I disturb you?” Seraphina asked sweetly.

“No. It’s okay,” Devon answered simply. Everyone in the room was silently listening.

They couldn’t stop thinking about who the caller might be. She must be very special because Devon wasn’t angry, and he even spoke softly, which shocked them even more.

When Finn heard Devon’s voice, he wasn’t surprised anymore. His boss was clearly in love.

Even Finn couldn’t deny that Seraphina was beautiful, like a real angel. She looked even more angelic when she was clean and well-dressed, unlike when he first saw her being carried by Devon, her white dress stained with blood.

“I’ll wait for you, okay? Take care.” Seraphina said before ending the call. She felt shy and hung up. Devon, on the other hand, wanted to smile, but stopped himself. He didn’t want anyone else to see him smile. He wanted only his angel to see that side of him.

“Boss, can I continue the meeting now?” Finn asked. Everyone stared at Devon, holding their heads in disbelief. If a mosquito flew in, it might enter their open mouths from shock.

Even the presenter in front looked like he was about to cry or faint from nervousness.

“Let’s start the meeting,” Devon finally said. Finn nearly dropped the daily schedule he was holding. That’s why Finn realized something that he thought earlier that Devon wasn’t satisfied with the report. But no—Devon hadn’t even been listening. He had been daydreaming since the start. Finn’s head hurt just thinking about it.

Devon, lost in thought, didn’t even realize that the meeting had already been going on for two hours. He thought it had just started.

“It’s already been two hours,” Finn whispered. Devon didn’t show any reaction even though he was surprised.

“You can give it to Finn. I just wasn’t in the right mind,” Devon said coldly. Then he stood up and ready to go home and see his angel.

________

Meanwhile, Seraphina had just finished baking the cookies when she thought of Devon. She felt a bit shy to call him, but she still did it, because she really wanted to hear his voice. Even though Devon took a while to answer, it was worth it. When Seraphina heard his voice, she thought it still sounded amazing, even over the phone.

Then she suddenly remembered Hadues and called Butler Tom. “Butler Tom? Where’s Hadues?” she asked with a smile, showing the many cookies she had made.

“He’s in his office, Lady Era,” Butler Tom replied. Seraphina quickly asked what drink Hadues liked, because she was planning to bring him some cookies.

“He likes coffee,” Butler Tom answered. He was about to show her Hadues’ usual coffee, but Seraphina stopped him.

“I’ll handle it. I’m sure Hadues will like this,” she said confidently as she looked at all the kinds of coffee and milk available.

“Lady Era, second young master doesn’t drink any coffee other than his usual one,” Butler Tom explained. The other helpers were also getting nervous about what Seraphina was doing.

They were worried Hadues would get angry at them too because of what Seraphina was doing. But even if she was a bit hard-headed, Seraphina truly believed Hadues would like what she made.

Meanwhile, Hadues was quietly working in his office. He wore his anti-radiation glasses to protect his eyes since he often worked long hours. He was surprised when he looked toward the door and saw someone coming, no other than Seraphina. He swallowed nervously, afraid his brother might see her there and misunderstand. He knew Devon could turn into a “demon” when he didn’t like something, and Hadues didn’t want to make his brother angry.

Just thinking about how their younger brother Lucif might get ahead of him in Devon’s eyes already annoyed him. That’s why he always tried his best to compete with Lucif. He knew Lucif would challenge him again when he returned home. Without even realizing it, Seraphina, who will be his future sister-in-law, was now standing in front of him.

He noticed a delicious smell coming from his desk and couldn’t help but feel hungry. He hadn’t eaten properly earlier when they all had lunch. He felt like he was going to die from hunger and to make things worse, Seraphina even said a prayer while they were eating, which made his body feel even heavier with guilt.

“Hadues, I baked these. And I noticed you didn’t eat well earlier. I’m sorry,” Seraphina said. Hadues was surprised to hear her call him by name. It made him wonder, was it that obvious that he didn’t eat properly earlier?

“And Butler Tom said you only drink coffee. But why not try this? I promise you’ll like it,” Seraphina said as she pointed to the drink she made. Without thinking, Hadues reached for the cup.

“Thank you,” he said softly, unable to look her in the eye. He was scared that his brother would suddenly show up and kill him out of anger. Hadues took a sip of the drink but quickly pulled it back after tasting it. It wasn’t the coffee he was used to. But he sipped again, curious about the taste, and ended up looking at Seraphina.

“It’s not real coffee,” Seraphina explained. “Coffee is bad for the body, so I made this instead and it smells like coffee, but it tastes like milk.” Hadues started sipping it again and again. He didn’t even like milk, but for some reason, he didn’t want to stop drinking it.

“Is it good?” Seraphina asked. Hadues nodded like a little kid, not knowing why it made him feel so happy. To him, coffee was life, but now he thought, “milfee is life." Referring to a milk and coffee.

“I don’t think milk is bad at all. This is good… sister-in-law,” Hadues said happily. He didn’t realize what he just said, until he saw Seraphina turn red like a tomato.

“I didn’t mean that! I meant Era!” Hadues stammered, trying to fix what he said.

“It’s okay. It doesn’t matter,” Seraphina replied, even though her heart was jumping from what he called her. It made her think that maybe Hadues was okay with her being Devon’s girlfriend… maybe even his wife someday. She felt like jumping with joy at what Hadues said. But since she couldn’t do that, she just held it all in and even stopping herself from smiling too much.
