CHAPTER 3: Seraphina Laurier

Everything was quiet at the dining table as they enjoyed the meal prepared by the young lady. Fear was evident in their eyes, as they worried that the young lady might say something wrong that would anger Devon. However, Devon immediately turned his gaze towards her as she began to speak.

"My name is Seraphina Laurier," she said with a smile. Devon found himself staring at her, repeatedly thinking about how beautiful her name was.

'Seraphina Laurier,' Devon thought, and after they finished eating, he quickly pulled her into his room.

"Seraphina," Devon called her name, and she looked at him with a bright smile.

"Devon, I want to thank you for your kindness," the young lady expressed her gratitude. Devon could not comprehend whether what Seraphina said was true. He could not imagine how she could consider him a good person.

Was Devon really good just because he saved her?

Seraphina Laurier could not help but be amazed by his face. His face seemed as if it had been crafted by an artist, designed to showcase beauty.

Seraphina was suddenly remembered that she no longer had a place to call home. She had left the orphanage where she had been residing. Feeling embarrassed about living there, she had promised to leave once she found a new place to stay.

Devon could not help but feel concerned as he wished to understand the thoughts of the young lady. He wanted to know what was deeply on her mind, especially since her expression had suddenly turned sour.

"What troubles you?" Devon asked with concern, noticing that her frown deepened.

"I d-don't know where to s-stay," Seraphina replied shyly, fidgeting with her own fingers. Devon, unable to control himself, managed to express his feelings to her.

"I think I like you, Seraphina," he said softly, and the young lady clearly heard him. Her heart raced due to the unexpected turn of events.

"You said you like me?" she asked, and Devon simply nodded at her while gazing into her eyes.

Seraphina simply smiled at him, which left Devon puzzled about the young woman. "Why are you smiling? Aren't you upset with me for having feelings for you?" Devon asked in quick succession, but Seraphina only chuckled softly.

"Should I be angry because you like me?" she replied with a smile, and Devon couldn't help but brush her hair aside as he was close to being overwhelmed by his feelings.

"You can stay with me and allow me to court you," he said while observing the young woman. Seraphina thought to herself, why not? If she knew that this man was good. Even though they had only spoken today, she felt safe in his presence.

"Okay," the young woman responded joyfully, and Devon couldn't resist embracing her in his overwhelming happiness. It seemed that even without a clear answer from her, he wanted to leap for joy.

On the other hand, the couple Donovan is restless. Particularly Venus Donovan, as they have found out that Seraphina has left the orphanage. Now, they are uneasy and she is searching for the young woman regardless of the cost.

"Evel Donovan! I am telling you, you must find Seraphina at all costs,” Venus said angrily to her husband Evel. He merely swallowed hard, for even though he was once a mafia king, he could not withstand the fury of his wife.

Evel took his favorite cookies made by Seraphina. Instantly, he returned to his gentle demeanor. Thus, Evel sighed in relief as he massaged his wife's head. "Is there no way to speed this up?" Venus complained, as they were now on the plane heading back to Donovan Hacienda.

This was due to the nun at the orphanage stating that Seraphina had left, and now they could not find her. The reason Venus and Evel decided to leave France, even though their meeting regarding the new project was not yet done.

"We will find Seraphina at any cost, understood?" Evel reassured his wife, though he was genuinely feeling a headache. Even he was uncertain about what to do.

"You must find him, Evel, I'm telling you," Venus replied, and her headache intensified as she recalled their third child, Lucif Donovan.

Lucif is the youngest of the three; while Devon is a ruthless mafia king and Hadues is a gentleman, Lucif is merely a brat who wanders around and seeks out for women.

"That bratty child, Evel," Venus exclaimed in frustration, and Evel's stress doubled due to his wife's words. At any moment, he would be blamed again because of his younger son.

Venus Donovan is married to Evel Donovan, a retired mafia king, and she is a truly lovely woman whom Evel encountered. Therefore, it is no wonder that Evel cannot help but be concerned about the young lady, Seraphina. He ponders whether she is his child, and it is not unlikely that she has inherited traits from Venus.

Venus is a very cheerful and loving person. When Evel first laid eyes on her, he could not help but fall in love. He managed to conceal his true self from her, fearing that she would abandon him upon discovering he was killing people.

On the other hand, Hadues cannot believe what has been happening since earlier. He is still observing his brother as he follows Seraphina's orders.

'I can't believe that my brother Devon Donovan, the merciless mafia king, is now in love with a woman,' Hadues thinks while sipping coffee in the middle of the afternoon.

"How do I look? Am I beautiful?" Seraphina asked Devon as she twirled around, wearing one of his pajamas and a t-shirt. He refused to let her wear any other clothes except for his own. Thus, Seraphina quickly understood what Devon wanted to convey, and she chose to wear only his clothes.

Devon becoming possessive towards Seraphina, even though she has only just agreed to enter into a courtship with him. He cannot fully understand that when Seraphina wear a crop top and shorts, the demon within him becomes uncontrollable. He would not hesitate to kill anyone who dares to look at her figure and her angelic face.

"Of course you are," Devon replies, cheerfully watching the lady. At this moment, he cannot comprehend that he is secretly smiling, something he rarely does.

Hadues, feeling a shiver run through him, is unsure if he is imagining what he has just seen. He grips his arm tightly, overwhelmed by fear.

'Did the Demon smile?' Hadues thinks, as he cannot believe that the demon feared by everyone has actually smiled.

He himself has never seen his brother to smile. Hadues could not help but feel a shiver at what he witnessed, so he decided to head to his office. The three siblings each have their own offices within their home. Particularly, these individuals have their own companies aside from their youngest sibling.

The one and only Lucif Donovan is the third young master of the Donovan family.

While his two siblings are only in their twenties, he is just 18 years old and has no intention of working in the family business.

Unlike Devon and Hadues, who are considered capable of managing a business. Lucif is known as a playboy. However, he does not let Hadues outshine him, as he does not want to be overshadowed by him in front of their brother Devon. They both idolize their brother, not just because he is a mafia king, but because he is truly strong and impressive when you see him fight.

Whenever the three of them are together, they cannot help but compete with one another. Even though Devon is unaware of what these two are up to.

At times, Devon wonders if there is an issue with the two of them that requires professional attention. Occasionally, they would unexpectedly greet him or they would all bring various foods and his milk. Since Devon never likes coffee, unlike Hadues, who enjoys coffee, he has never had any.

Devon did not expect Finn to call him out of the blue. He mentioned that there was a problem at his company and that he required his help. As a result, the smile that had been on his lips while observing Seraphina quickly faded. He wished to see the young woman every moment and promptly drew her into the yard where they were alone, apart from each other.

"Is something bothering you, Devon?" Seraphina asked softly. Yet, Devon simply held her cheeks with both of his hands.

"I need to go first, contact me if you need anything, okay?" Devon replied, giving her the cellphone he had bought the day before. He truly intended to provide her with this cellphone so that he could call her at any time when he was free.

"D-Did you purchase this for me?" Seraphina asked incredulously. Devon could not finish his sentence as she suddenly hugged him.

This made him even more inclined to stay and not leave from her side. He could not express his emotions. Seraphina had no idea that her hug had a profound effect on him. Devon quickly pulled away from the hug, even though he was reluctant to let go. He wanted to kiss her, but he did not want to scare her. Also, he did not want to rush her.

"Thank you, take care," Seraphina said while waving, and she smiled as Devon left and entered his car.

Seraphina is experiencing something unusual at the moment. It seems she wants to hide in embarrassment due to her actions. She is aware that she has just agreed to let Devon court her, and she is genuinely feeling excited about it.

She never imagined that this is what the nuns at the orphanage had meant. Someday, she would encounter a man who would want her, even if it is just the first time they meet. It seems they were right. It is only the first time she has laid eyes on Devon, she cannot help but feel attracted to him. This attraction is not solely due to his good looks, but also because of the assistance he provided her the other day.

When Seraphina entered the house. The servants were smiling at the young woman, recognizing that she is not just kind, but also has the power to lead the family.

Seraphina truly resembles an angel who has descended from heaven due to her immense kindness. The name Seraphina suits her perfectly, as the Seraphim or Seraphina are the highest-ranking angels in the service of God.
