CHAPTER 4: His Parents

A luxurious car is entering the Donovan hacienda. Inside, there is a garden with various types of flowers planted. Once you visit this place, you will wish to stay and enjoy the beauty of the flowers. Moreover, the individuals residing within the Donovan hacienda are also known for their generous spirits and their profound love for the Donovan couple. They hold their three children in high regard, viewing them as masters, alongside their first master, Evel Donovan.

Therefore, they serve the Donovan family with full commitment, as they consider them family. Despite Venus's awareness of their financial struggles, she does not belittle them, unlike other wealthy individuals they know.

They are immensely grateful for having found a good employer, despite the intimidating nature of their three children. Until the gate of their house opened on its own. These individuals were already aware that Venus and Evel were returning from their business trip in France.

A remarkably beautiful house awaited them. This house reaches up to the fourth floor, requiring an elevator to prevent exhaustion. The size of this house is quite significant; once you step inside, you may find it challenging to exit due to its enormity.

Even Seraphina has not yet had the chance to explore this place, as she only knows Devon's room, which they reach by using the stairs. Since it is only on the second floor, and she is only familiar in the kitchen and Hadues's office, which is located on the first floor of the house.

As soon as Venus and Evel stepped into the Donovan hacienda, they were instantly greeted. "Welcome back, Master Evel and Madam Venus." Venus only nodded while her husband stood behind her, both aware that their Madam was not in a pleasant state. 

Over the years, they had become familiar with this; when she was unwell, her face would appear very serious. In addition, when she was feeling well, she was genuinely cheerful, and they suddenly thought of Seraphina. This was due to Butler Tom not having informed them about the young lady. He was afraid of being scolded by Venus and Evel in a harsh manner. 

"Is Devon around?" Venus asked Butler Tom in a rather glum tone as she headed to the kitchen to get some water.

"There appears to be an emergency, Madam Venus, yet the second young master is here," he replied, looking at the table where Seraphina's used items were still there.

The floor still has some flour, causing Butler Tom to hold his head and reflect that he might get scolded. Venus became even more upset upon seeing the extreme mess in their kitchen. It was the first time she had encountered such a situation and quickly turn to Butler Tom.

"Why is it so dirty? Please call for some of the assistants!" Venus said almost in a shout, and she observed Evel coming closer to her.

Butler Tom found it impossible to stop thinking about Seraphina while he was in Hadues' office. However, since it was taking a considerable amount of time for the food to be served, it appeared that everything was alright and Hadues was not scolding him. He did not hear any sounds from within the office as he walked past.

Just as Venus and Evel were about to leave the kitchen, Venus suddenly stopped because she had been smelling the delightful aroma of cookies for a while now.

The scent reminded her of the cookies that Seraphina made, and when she looked at the table, she saw a plenty of cookies that were strikingly similar to those made by the young lady. Without hesitation, Venus decided to eat one of the cookies. Her heart raced as the taste and texture were exactly the same as the cookies she remembered.

Evel was equally astonished by what he saw, without thinking he also eat one. He knew that only one person could have made these cookies, and that was Seraphina.

Beside this, they noticed the scent of coffee akin to what Seraphina would make whenever they were at the orphanage. Seraphina's "milfee" had the aroma of coffee but tasted like milk, and Venus was nearly flustered when she tasted the milk in the glass.

"Butler Tom!" she shouted, startling those cleaning in the kitchen, and even Butler Tom rushed away in surprise.

"M-madam," he gasped. "Did you make these?" Venus asked, to which Butler Tom merely shook his head, thinking that he might be in trouble because of Seraphina.

"Then who?" Evel replied seriously, followed by the cheerful shout of a voice that made them all turn to the young lady.

"Aunt Venus and Uncle Evel!" Seraphina exclaimed, which surprised everyone as well.

How did Seraphina recognize these two well-known individuals? It seemed her shouting did not faze her at all, especially since they were not fond of it, particularly Evel.

While Hadues held a glass in his left hand, he nearly dropped it. This surprised him due to Seraphina's shout, as she was the one who had protested about carrying the glass. He wanted to understand how Seraphina prepared the milfee. However, he was also startled by her yelling and wondered how he came to know her parents and greeted them loudly.

"Oh my god! It's truly you, Era!" exclaimed Venus joyfully as she hugged the girl out of concern. Evel also embraced the girl since he was genuinely worried upon learning that Seraphina had left the orphanage. Thus, Venus's mood shifted to happiness.

"Era, come here." Venus called, pulling the young woman towards their living room to sit down. Venus was indeed correct; the cookies and milfee on the table were made by Seraphina.

"Era, you have no idea how worried we were about you and your Uncle Evel. As soon as we found out, we immediately left our business trip in France." Venus said sadly to the young woman, her face showing signs of wanting to cry. Upon hearing this, Hadues nearly dropped his jaw in shock.

'Is that why they are so quick to return? They canceled an important meeting for Seraphina?' Hadues thought, scratching his head in confusion. He was at a loss regarding what had truly been happening since Devon brought the woman yesterday.

"Please forgive me, I was just so embarrassed in front of them that I decided to leave." The young woman said sadly.

Venus was notably distressed by the sight of Seraphina looking this way. Her angelic face appeared as though it were suffering from an illness when observed closely. Therefore, Venus quickly held the young woman's face and smiled at her.

"Did I not tell you back then, why did you not just come with us?" Venus asked, and the young woman merely nodded, while Evel considered how Seraphina had come to their hacienda.

"Era? How did you arrive at the hacienda?" Evel said, and it suddenly occurred to Seraphina that, if she was not mistaken, these were indeed Devon's parents.

"Uncle Evel? Aunt Venus? Devon is your son?" Seraphina questioned, and Venus and Evel could only exchange glances, because she had mentioned their son's name that no one could do.

"Yes, Era. What is the matter?" Venus questioned, but the young woman just smiled. "She is the one who brought me to this hacienda; she saved me when a man took me and brought me to a place filled with men, claiming that I owed a debt," Seraphina detailed, while the couple simply closed their eyes in disbelief.

They did not expect the young woman to end up at the base, a situation that Venus never considered could happen.

Evel could not shake off the thought of who that man was, and she was eager to find out. It seemed that the mind of their angel might be tainted by a touch of darkness that they wished to avoid.

Finn Lucas's face was difficult to understand because of the many papers he was carrying. Additionally, his boss, who had not been listening to the meeting since earlier cause him a headache.

He quickly wiped his sweat and returned to the area where his boss was located. He quietly waited in the vehicle, eager to go home. Meanwhile, Finn had no choice but to comply.

"Hurry up, Finn, I want to go home," Devon said softly while gazing at his wallpaper. When Seraphina had his cellphone, she couldn't resist taking selfies. So, when Devon saw a beautiful shot of her, he immediately set it as his wallpaper and lock screen.

For him, even though he was not beside her, at least he had a picture of her. They spent several minutes traveling until they finally arrived at the Donovan hacienda. Finn opened the door for Devon, allowing him to enter the house, but Devon was greatly surprised to see Seraphina along with his parents. Without hesitation, he approached the young lady and pulled her up from her seat. He thought that even though it as his parents, he could fully defend Seraphina.

Venus's face suddenly frowned upon seeing the appearance of his son, Devon. It seemed as though he wanted to kill him for holding the young lady. Venus could not help but stand up from her seat and hit her son on the arm. "I will poke your eyes out if you keep looking at me like that!" she shouted, while Seraphina laughed, closely observing the two.

"Mom! Can you please stop it," Devon said irritably to his mother, and Evel intervened to calm the situation.

"As you grow older, you become more stubborn!" Venus shouted, and Devon could hardly comprehend what his mother meant.

Even Hadues, who was sitting nearby while drinking milfee, suddenly froze. He knew that he would also be affected by their mother's anger. He slowly stood up and wanted to go to his room to rest. However, he could not take a step when he suddenly heard his name.

"Especially you, Hadues! We will discuss this later!" Venus shouted. Hadues was sure that he would face another problem for not going to work today.

How could he possibly go to work when his brother was experiencing changes in his life? He did not want to miss this opportunity while he thought of Lucif. Surely, he was still unaware of their brother's situation.

"Devon, don't tell me? Era is your girlfriend?" Evel asked his son, who merely glanced at Seraphina. "Nope, but I am still courting her," Devon proudly replied, and Venus was overjoyed to hear what Devon had said.

He never expected that his son, who showed no interest in women, would suddenly pursue a romantic relationship.

"She is the girl we are talking in the orphanage," Venus explained to their people in the house. Those who heard her words realized that Seraphina was indeed someone special.

They began to understand her kindness, and now it seemed they believed it, especially when Devon first brought her home, there was something different about the young lady. Devon suddenly realize his mother's words. He never imagined that this was the woman she mentioned almost everyday.  They could not avoid being annoyed because Venus always mention the girl at the orphanage they visited every week.

However, if Devon knew it, he might have taken the chance to visit the orphanage regularly. 

"Mom, please let me speak with Era," Devon asked, and his mother simply understand. They made their way to Devon's room, and Seraphina instructed Butler Tom to bring the food upstairs and follow them.

She hoped to share the cookies she had baked earlier along with her milfee; he was praying that Devon would enjoy what she had prepared for him.

"I didn't realize you know my parents," said Devon as he opened the door. "Lady Era," Butler Tom called out to Seraphina and he ledt immediately.

"I was not aware that you are their son," Seraphina explained as she pulled him and had him sit on the bed. "I actually made these cookies earlier for you," Seraphina said shyly, while Devon looked at her in surprise.

Why did she make cookies for him?

"Are these for me?" Devon asked, unable to believe it, and Seraphina merely nodded. As he waited for Devon to eat the cookies along with the milfee she had prepared. Devon had no words because the cookies he tasted were incredibly delicious. This was even his first time eating cookies.

He does not usually have interest in this kind of food, but he thought the taste was not bad and indeed quite delicious. Perhaps it is because the person she likes made it that it tastes so good? Devon also truly enjoyed the milfee that was prepared.

"It's good! And I thought it was coffee, but it isn't." Devon smiled, while Seraphina simply watched him eat. Thus, Seraphina explaining making cookies again once she is no longer busy helping at the hacienda. She plans to make a larger batch to share with others.
