CHAPTER ONE.

Present day. . .

                  •T–––M–––V–––P–––L•

Birds chirped in the quiet street of Svetyland, a little town in Los Angeles. Sun was scorching heavily, leaves were all dry and few people were roaming about the streets.

It was the first day of the week -- which was filled with the opulence of summer. Particularly, it was the first day of summer. Everyone could feel the heat already, as did Freya, as she walked towards her friend's house dressed in shorts and a violet tank top. Her blonde hair was packed in a ponytail and in her left hand was a water bottle, filled with orange juice.

Getting to her friend's front door she knocked twice on it before the door fell open.

"Hey, Freya!" The older woman who opened the door greeted as she moved away from the doorway so Freya would enter. A huge smile was embracing her beautiful chocolate face as she welcomed Freya — her daughter's best friend.

"Hello, Mrs Pott!" Freya greeted the older woman. "Is Elizabeth home?"

"Yes, she's upstairs, reading as usual."

"I thought as much," Replied Freya. "I tried calling her earlier but she hasn't been picking up."

"You know your friend," Freya nodded. She knew how her best friend could be. "Anyways, you better go upstairs now. I'll bring you some baked cookies."

"Thank you, Mrs Pott."

With that, Freya went up the stairs and opened the second door in the hallway, closing it with a loud bang, yet her best friend wasn't aware that someone had entered her room. Her back was facing the door as she sat on a desk with earplugs in her ear as she read.

Shaking her head, Freya sighed and went to tap her best friend on her back.

"Oh my," Elizabeth said, turning her head towards Freya as she removed the ear plugs in both her ears. "When did you get here?"

"Since forever," Rolling her eyes, Freya went to sit on Elizabeth's bed. Dropping her water bottle on the carpet floor. "Seriously Eli, I've been calling you!"

"Freya, I'm so sorry," Elizabeth begged her friend in an apologetic tone as she ran her hand through her thick black curls.

"Where was your phone?"

Elizabeth picked up her phone from the desk, switched it on, and turned the screen to Freya, "See, it's on Do not disturb."

"Whatever," Freya said, standing up as she moved towards Elizabeth's wardrobe. "There's a Party tonight, and we're both going."

"Freya, I really--"

"No excuses," Freya interjected her friend before she could complete her statement. She knew Elizabeth was definitely going to say something about how parties didn't interest her, and how she'd prefer reading than stepping out of her house. "We're both going tonight."

Elizabeth ran her hands through her face, she knew there was no way she could convince Freya that she didn't want to go. Once Freya's mind was made up, there was no going back. Nevertheless, Elizabeth really didn't want to go to the party. She hated parties. She saw nothing fun in it, other than people drinking, grinding against themselves and eventually making out.

Last time Freya dragged her to a party on campus, she made a complete fool out of herself when she was given a cup of drink by a random guy who had tried hitting on her. She had nicely declined and told him that she wasn't interested, but he forced her, telling her that the drink was just Sprite. But he lied, it was actually a shot of Colorado, and Elizabeth vomited on him and some few people around, before Freya had come to save her from puking all around.

Her name on campus throughout that week of the incident was 'One shot,' and she despised and blamed Freya all through the week, so definitely she had to look for a way to back out of the party Freya was planning on dragging her to.

"Well, remember the last time I went to a party with you," Elizabeth brought up the incident in a bid to convince her best friend. "You saw how I made a complete fool out of myself, so please Freya let me sit this one out."

Freya feigned ignorance and went ahead to open Elizabeth's wardrobe.

"Hello! Elizabeth is speaking here."

"I can hear you, but I don't feel like listening," Freya picked up a white spaghetti hand gown and looked at her friend. "See Elizabeth, just because you vomited the last time doesn't mean anything. It happens. The first time I went to a party, believe me, I did something more embarrassing than that. It was a strip show at that party."

"But you can't force me to go to this Party," Elizabeth closed her books, crossed her arms on her chest and turned her chair around so she could see her friend properly. "I'm not going and it's final."

"Really?"

"Yes, really."

Closing the wardrobe, Freya shrugged and went to sit on the bed while Elizabeth stared at her best friend with a confused frown on her chocolate skin. She couldn't believe that Freya agreed to her. On a norm, Freya wouldn't have agreed with her, but instead, insisted. Freya wasn't the type to lose a battle or an argument, so Elizabeth was surprised when her best friend succumbed to her.

"So you really aren't going to force me to go with you anymore?" Elizabeth asked, standing up from the chair to sit next to Freya on the bed.

"Nope," There was a way she answered that showed she hadn't completely given up. "Just so know, you would be the one missing out on your youth."

Elizabeth smiled, she knew Freya was going to enter into the YOLO talk.

"See Eli," Turning slightly on the bed, she held Elizabeth's hands. "We're on summer break, we should enjoy and party while we can."

"But I'd rather read."

"Elizabeth, you're brilliant enough," Truly, Elizabeth was really brilliant. "You came first in your department, not only that, you came first in the whole level."

"And it's all because I read."

"Well Elizabeth, you need to go out a little," Freya told her friend. "All work and no play will make Elizabeth a dull girl. Also, you need to make friends."

"I have you, and I am happy to have you as my best friend, so I don't want any more friends."

"See Eli, let's just go party. Also, I wouldn't want to disappoint my new friend who invited me."

Elizabeth smiled. "A new friend, uhn?"

"Yup, and you'll meet him when you tag along with me to the party."

"Believe me, I do want to meet him," Elizabeth said. "But I --"

"What's my motto Elizabeth?" Freya cut into her statement.

"You only live once — YOLO."

"So please Elizabeth, let's just go together. Also, you know I hate to go anywhere without you."

Freya did the doggy eyes with her baby blue eyes and Elizabeth couldn't help but succumb to her best friend.

"Fine, I'll go with you, but we're both coming--"

Freya squealed in excitement – before Elizabeth could complete her statement – and pulled her best friend in for a hug. Quickly, she stood up and continued her search for the perfect dress in Elizabeth's wardrobe when there was a knock on the door.

"Come in!" Said Elizabeth.

The door opened and Elizabeth's younger brother — Ethan, came in, carrying in his hand a tray of cookies and milk.

"Hey, Freya!" He greeted, walking towards the desk to drop the tray on it.

"How're you Ethan?" Freya asked, staring seductively at his butt while Elizabeth, who noticed it, only shook her head and scoffed.

"Great!" Ethan replied, putting Elizabeth's books aside before dropping the tray. And Freya couldn't stop smiling as she stared at him.

It was no secret that Freya had a crush on her younger brother and honestly, she couldn't be blamed. Ethan was too handsome to be true. He was just eighteen years old, yet, his frame was drool worthy, with his complete six packs, glazing caramel skin and his Hazel eyes. Anyone was bound to fall for him, and because of his looks he was the most popular guy in his highschool, apart from the fact that he was also the captain of the lacrosse team.

To Freya, he was a living Adonis.

"I better leave now. See you later Freya."

"See you later also."

Ethan smiled at her and left.

"Really? You're still interested in Ethan?" Elizabeth asked, standing up to take a cookie from the tray. "He's my little brother for crying out loud."

"You can't blame me, you know," Freya continued rampaging through Elizabeth 's wardrobe. "Blame him for being too handsome."

"I don't care, just trash any fantasy you might have. It won't be funny Freya; if anything happens."

"Whatever," Elizabeth rolled her eyes as she picked out a yellow dress. "And I think I've found what you'd be wearing, Miss Elizabeth Pott."

"And I dread this night already, Miss Freya Coleman."
