YEAR 1850. . .

A man with a blonde man bun stood by the doorway, his mouth ajar, his hands clenching and unclenching as he watched a lifeless body laid vertically on the floor. The head of the body had been snapped, the left hand was missing, and blood stains were all around the room. It was the body of Camille Rosé — an ordinary girl and the man's lover.

Taking slow strides towards the already dead body, the man switched on the lamp in the room and he felt some emotions he couldn't decipher.

Anger or grief? He couldn't say.

When he got to where the fragile and cold body laid, he sat on the floor, his hazel eyes with silver fleeks observing the body before he turned it around. Her long wavy black hair was all over her face, seeing that he tucked it behind her ears, getting a sight of her eyes — which were opened, and as usual, her beautiful honey eye orbs were filled with love, however lifeless. Gently, he used a finger to trace the face of his lover before he closed her eyes and placed a kiss on her forehead.

Taking his head closer to her ears, he whispered, "You can't die, you're just asleep."

He caressed her face once again and thought back to his father. He knew his father never made empty promises and when he said he was going to kill Camille, he wanted to believe his father wasn't actually going to do it, but he did. His father killed his lover.

"She's making you soft, Elbert! I better get rid of her." That was what his father told him the last time they spoke.

He smiled. His father was right indeed, Camille was making him soft and he liked it. He wasn't human but she was making him humane. Camille was the piece that had been missing in his life and he couldn't let death take her.

Taking his gaze to her missing left hand he released a small growl. He knew even if he did bring her back to life, her left hand was forever gone. However, that didn't change his mind.

He placed a kiss on her cheeks, her chapped lips, then trailed it down to her neck. He stopped at her neck and opened his mouth, showcasing his sharp white fangs before he bit into her flesh.
