I was about to leave the shop when something suddenly came to mind that made me stop in my tracks. I shook my head violently upon realizing that what I was thinking about Lean’s statement was impossible.

“It’s not him… that couldn’t possibly be,” I muttered to myself before turning toward Lean, who was now looking at me curiously.

“Hey, why’d you come back? I thought you were heading home?” Lean asked, confused, as I returned to the counter.

But I didn’t answer her question. Instead, I quickly tried to come up with something to ask her.

“When did that guy go missing again?” I asked as I looked at her.

“Uh, just the other day… then he was declared missing after 24 hours, yesterday. Why do you ask?” she replied, and I secretly let out a breath of relief.

Good thing I didn’t leave otherwise, I probably would’ve regretted it.

But I breathed a sigh of relief after that, because if it turned out that my hunch was right, I really would’ve regretted letting Louie stay in my apartment. It’s a

I immediately ran to the kitchen to drink some water. I don’t know why, I just suddenly got so thirsty because of what I saw in the bathroom. Next time, I’m definitely not going to follow whatever sounds I hear, because who knows what I’ll see next—maybe something even worse.“Jesus, Erina! It was just a body, so why did you get so thirsty all of a sudden?” I muttered to myself, letting out a deep sigh. This must really be the effect on me whenever I see a man’s body—especially up close. And that was literally the first time I ever saw something like that in my entire life. I need to be more careful, especially now that I’m no longer living alone.Dear God, my precious eyes! They've now been tainted with lust.“Um, Louie…”We were currently having lunch, but the atmosphere was so quiet that only the sound of utensils clinking could be heard. I’m usually used to this kind of silence, but I don’t know why it suddenly felt so different now that I have someone here with me."Hmm?" he said

*WAYNE LOUIE ANDERSON POVShe was surprised when she saw me behind the door. I just looked at her seriously, but I couldn't help feeling sad because of what I heard outside. I didn't mean to eavesdrop on their conversation, but I saw her stunned earlier when she opened the door. And I know that something is off.She cried... it was obvious in her eyes. They were red, and there were still traces of tears on her cheeks.I'm supposed to not care about it because I'm not the kind of person who suddenly gets affected when I see someone crying. But now... I felt a sudden pain in my chest. And this isn't good. I need to stop this, but now isn't the right time for that."Are you okay?" I asked, but she only nodded in response, offering a small, quiet smile."Um, have you been standing there for a while?" she asked, then walked past me. But I didn't answer her, instead, I followed her to the kitchen. I didn't want to lie, but I had to, especially since what they were talking about was too pers

*ERINA ISABEL TUAZON POVI've been staring at the ceiling for a while now. I'm still lying in bed, but I have no plans of getting up to get ready. I don't have work today, but I invited Louie to go out yesterday.I feel heavy when I woke up, probably because of whatever is ahead of me today. The truth is, I didn’t sleep well last night because of the conversation I had with my brother yesterday. No matter how much I deny it, I’m still affected by what he said. But I need to be okay today because I don’t want to visit Mom feeling sad."Erina, are you awake?"I immediately sat up when I heard Louie's voice outside my room. But I didn't get off the bed—I just sat there, staring at the door. I didn’t answer because I didn’t want to face him in this state just yet."The breakfast is ready on the table. I’ll just take a walk for a while. I’ll be home after 30 minutes, I promise," he said from outside my room.I didn’t expect him to wake up so early to prepare breakfast for me. I’m supposed

"I thought we wouldn’t make it after what happened earlier, but we still made it. I hope you feel better now that we’re here in a public park."I didn’t look at Louie, I just kept my eyes on the children playing in the playground with their parents. I couldn’t help but feel a little jealous because, when I was younger, Mommy only took me to the park twice, and after that, it never happened again. She was busy with work, Dad was the same, and Kuya wasn’t into the things I liked to do. So it was only Mommy who would accompany me to do or go to the places I wanted. This park witnessed how happy I was during the times I was still with Mommy. Before she died, she even promised me we’d have a picnic here for my upcoming 6th birthday. But promises are meant to be broken. But I guess I’m the reason that didn’t happen."I don’t know if it feels lighter, but I think it’s only getting heavier," I whispered as I sadly stared at the mother and daughter. They were eating ice cream together. "Geez, if I didn’t text you that I was going to meet you, you really wouldn’t come, huh?" Faye said, sounding a bit upset.I just exhaled and took another sip of my coffee at what she said. I didn’t respond, letting her vent out her feelings before I spoke. Because if I replied, she’d just lash out at me more... and her feelings would get worse.Honestly, I’ve become immune to her drama, but sometimes, it’s just so irritating to hear what she says."Do you still consider me a friend? Do you even care about me? Do you ever think about me?" she said dramatically.I just closed my eyes and took a deep breath before responding. "Faye, calm down... of course, we’re still friends. You’re just being so dramatic. I’ve been busy with work, that’s why I didn’t have time to visit you."She crossed her arms and gave me a glare. I secretly chuckled at her reaction."Is it true? Do you think I'm lying?" I said with a laugh, but she just gave me an eye roll in response. She can be so childish someti

I dropped onto the sofa as soon as I got home to the apartment from work. I could feel the intense exhaustion from all the heavy tasks I had to do earlier. And it felt like I couldn’t move my legs anymore because of the long walk I took to get here.I got home late because there were no more tricycles or jeeps when I left the restaurant earlier. I waited for a few minutes until I decided to just walk. The apartment is just about a meter away from the restaurant, but I ended up doing a walk-run combo on the way. So here I am now—drenched in sweat and gasping for breath like I just joined a 1-meter run."Where could he have gone?" I muttered while scanning the apartment. My eyes searched for Louie. I didn’t see him when I arrived.I decided to stand up and head to the kitchen, but when I got there, he wasn’t there either. I looked all over the apartment, but I couldn’t find even a trace of him. I suddenly felt worried about that guy. Around this time, he’s usually just here in the apart

*WAYNE LOUIE ANDERSON POVI recently realized that she fell asleep in my arms. Good thing I caught her. Maybe she suddenly fell asleep because of extreme exhaustion. And perhaps also because she had been crying earlier due to what we talked about.I brought her to her room and slowly laid her on the bed. I tucked her in properly and gently removed a few strands of hair covering her face. And I couldn't stop myself from staring at her because of the things she told me earlier. How could a father bear to deprive his child of seeing her mother at her final resting place? How cruel!"How's the task I'm asking you to do? Have you found out anything?" I asked Deo, but he didn’t answer right away. He looked troubled and didn’t seem to know what to say to me.We're here, just the two of us, at a coffee shop near the apartment. I met with him to ask for an update on the task I asked him to work on. Erina didn’t know that I left the apartment. I snuck out, making sure to do it at night so no on

*ERINA ISABEL TUAZON POVI slowly opened my eyes, but it wasn’t a soft pillow I was holding, it was something hard that I didn’t know what it was.I slept in my room last night, right? But why—oh my goodness! Why am I hugging Louie? Why are we sleeping next to each other here in the living room?!Oh my gosh, what happened last night?"What should I do? How do I remove his arm without waking him up?" I thought to myself.Louie’s arms are wrapped around me, while I’m pressed against his chest. I can’t remember how we ended up in this situation, but I don’t want to know because I’m so embarrassed!"Oh my gosh, his arm is so heavy!"I gently lifted his arm, hoping he wouldn’t wake up so I could get away. But I suddenly gasped when he pulled me closer to him, tightening his hold around me.What should I do now? Wake him up? Suddenly get up or roughly remove his arm around me? Or should I just stay in this position and wait for him to wake up?“He’s really handsome—his face is flawless. His

I'm just lying here on my bed, but I keep glancing around my room. Even now, I still can't believe Louie actually did this.I didn’t tell him this morning to clean my room too. But it turns out he included it anyway. That just made me feel even more embarrassed. A guy cleaned my room instead of me.“Shucks! This is so embarrassing... but should I thank him? Gosh, what should I even say?” I muttered, tugging at my hair.I feel like I’m losing it—I don’t even want to leave my room anymore.I’m not angry that he came in here without asking. What I feel more than anything is embarrassment over what he did."Lord, what should I do? Was what I did even right? Please don’t be mad at me, and I hope you won’t punish me," I whispered while looking up.My gosh! I’m even talking to the Lord now because of my craziness."But I’m not going to stop—I’ll finish what I started," I added, then suddenly rolled over on the bed out of frustration.I need to think of another way. My shift just ended and I’ve already left the restaurant. Right now, I’m at the supermarket—just buying a few groceries and some food supplies. Good thing Faye lent me some money, so I was able to buy what I needed. Finally, Louie and I have something to eat this week.Speaking of him... I wonder how he’s doing at the apartment?I really need to go home soon to find out if he actually did what I asked him to do this morning.“Oh, my gosh!”I stopped in my tracks when my cart bumped into a woman's cart that suddenly appeared in front of me. I gasped in shock at her reaction. But then I noticed the scowl on her face.Wait a minute, why is she mad? She’s the one who suddenly showed up out of nowhere.“Are you blind? Didn’t you see me passing by?” she snapped at me. The people around us started looking because she said it so loudly.I instantly felt embarrassed because of this woman. She looks like we’re around the same age, so I could argue back—but I don’t want to make a scene, especial

*ERINA ISABEL TUAZON POVI let out a deep sigh after putting on my shoes. I stood up and grabbed my bag before heading out of the room. I need to work harder now because I no longer have a source for my daily needs.I’m having second thoughts about the decision I made yesterday. I didn’t want to do it, but I have no choice, especially since it’s not just me who will suffer but also him. It’s not that I want to ask him to leave, but the truth is hitting me hard—I can no longer afford to support his needs. I still have some compassion in my heart, but I have no other choice but to do what Faye told me.Whatever happens, I hope what I’m doing is the right thing and that I won’t regret it."Are you leaving, Erina? Eat breakfast first before you go," Louie greeted me as I was about to leave the apartment.I couldn’t answer, I just stared at him. But then, my conscience visited me again.Oh no, I can’t do this... because I can't follow through with what I’m planning to do."Uh, yeah... I-I

However, no one still knows what really happened to him or the reason behind his disappearance.A week later, the news reached Wayne's father, Mr. William Anderson. He had come all the way from Russia for a business trip when he heard the news that his eldest son was missing. He immediately ordered people to search for his son, but he didn't think to ask for the police's help. To him, it would be a waste of time, but the main reason—he didn't trust them."Sir, I still haven't gotten any updates from the person you instructed. Up until now, he still hasn't found your son," said his secretary with a sad expression.Mr. William let out a deep sigh, but it was clear on his face that he was deeply worried and exhausted from searching for his son."Tell him not to stop until he finds my son. I let out a deep sigh before deciding to knock on the bathroom door where Louie had been waiting for me inside for a while now. The door immediately opened, and his face appeared before me, but I couldn’t see any emotion in his eyes. I didn’t know if he had heard what Derick and I talked about earlier, but I hoped he hadn’t.I didn’t know what to say to him—we just looked at each other, but I was the first one to look away. He might end up reading what’s on my mind, and I didn’t want him to start worrying about me again.“A-Are you okay?” he asked hesitantly once he stepped out of the bathroom. I didn’t answer; instead, I gave him a small smile and gently nodded.“Did he already leave?”“Uhh, yeah… he just came to tell me something and we talked for a bit before he left.”I walked toward the kitchen, and he just quietly followed behind me. But I knew he was already wondering who that man was who came earlier, and what we had talked about.I leaned against the wall, holding a glass of

I slowly opened my eyes when I felt the sunlight hitting my cheek. I didn’t know what time it was, but I guessed it was already noon. My body still ached, but the headache was gone—maybe because of the medicine I took last night and the long rest I had.I decided to get up—I needed to prepare for work even though my body felt heavy. I couldn’t afford to be absent again; I might really lose my job for good.“Holy sh—”I quickly covered my mouth in surprise. I didn’t expect to see Louie here in my room, sleeping soundly on the floor.Did that mean… he slept here in my room??Oh God, how did I not notice?“Even when he’s asleep, he’s still so handsome,” I thought to myself as I stared at him. But suddenly, my eyes widened when I noticed he was slowly waking up, and here I was, frozen, unsure of what to do.I couldn’t even get up because by then he was fully awake, looking straight at me. I couldn’t read any expression on his face—he was just quietly watching me, as if observing my face.

I just finished my shift at the restaurant and I’m on my way out to head home. My head hurts and I feel like I’m coming down with a fever. I don’t know why, but I think it’s because of the heavy tasks I did earlier.Aside from serving the orders, I also helped carry supplies and stocks to the kitchen. I also got sweaty and then caught some rain earlier, so maybe that’s why I’m feeling this way. I really need to rest once I get back to the apartment.“Hello, Faye…” I said as I answered her call.I’m currently waiting for a jeep to take me home. I wanted to just walk to save money on the fare, but my body can’t handle walking anymore.[I already called Kuya Erick about what you gave me earlier, but he refuses to accept it. He wants you to be the one to return this to your dad.]I let out a sigh and rubbed my forehead. What Faye was referring to was the money Dad had given me. I had planned to return it to him.[So, what’s your plan? What are you going to do with the money?]I had asked

I sat quietly on one corner, thinking. I’m at my second job now, but I feel like I just want to go home because of everything I found out yesterday.I don’t know who to believe between the two of them. But I have to set that aside for now before I drive myself crazy thinking about it. I forced myself to focus on work, trying to push away the thoughts about what I discussed with Aunt Helen."Erina, table 4..."As soon as I heard my name, I quickly stood up and took the tray from Ate Mica. She’s also a waitress, but she started here before me. She’s kind and very hardworking, and she’s one of the people I look up to when it comes to work."Okay, Ate," I said, then left the kitchen to deliver the order to table 4.I walked slowly, careful because the tray was loaded with food, and it looked expensive, so I had to be extra careful. But I suddenly stopped when I got close to the table where I was about to deliver the food, as I saw someone I didn’t expect to see here and definitely didn’t

"Sorry about this, Louie. Your clothes got dirty because of my clumsiness," I apologized as the two of us walked home to the apartment.I was too embarrassed to even look at him because of what happened earlier at the park. Now people we passed by on the street kept glancing at him because of the ice cream stain on his clothes—which was entirely my fault."It's okay, I don't mind," he said before smiling at me. But I still couldn't shake off the embarrassment I felt. After twenty minutes of walking, we finally arrived at the apartment. He headed straight to the kitchen while I went to the bedroom to change my clothes. I wasn’t going to work anymore—I had already informed the restaurant manager earlier that I wasn’t feeling well and wouldn't be able to come in."Uh, Louie... hand me your shirt," I said when I got to the kitchen. He was in the middle of washing the dishes but immediately turned to look at me when he heard my voice. He was still wearing the shirt stained with ice cream,
