QUEENETH’S POV

I should have known it would be here.

The forest doesn’t change much, even when everything else does. The trees still lean the same way. The ground still dips where we used to fall and laugh and scrape our knees raw. This was where Reuben taught me how to listen to my wolf before anyone else even knew she existed. Where we shifted wrong and back again and promised not to tell.

So when I feel him before I see him, my chest already hurts.

He steps out from between the trees like he’s been standing there all along. No dramatic entrance. No shadows clinging to him. Just Reuben. My foster brother. The boy who used to braid leaves into my hair and tell me monsters only existed if you believed in them.

He looks tired.

Not wounded. Not wild. Just worn thin. Like something has been pulling at him from the inside and winning most days.

“You came,” he says.

His voice sounds normal. That almost breaks me.

“I didn’t know you’d still come if I asked.”

I cross my arms, more to keep my

  • The Moon’s Pure wolf    Chapter Forty Four- The Choice That Felt Like Leaving My Skin

QUEENETH’S POVAlpha Collins gives me a choice in his office, but it does not feel like a choice at all.The room smells like ink and old wood and the faint trace of rain from earlier. Everything here has weight. Every chair. Every symbol carved into the walls. This is where decisions are made that ripple outward. This is where lives change quietly. He stands across from me, not behind the desk. Not above me. Just Collins. The man I love. The Alpha who keeps getting asked to sacrifice pieces of himself for everyone else.“You can stay,” he says. His voice is steady, careful. “We prepare together. The pack adapts around you. Around what’s coming.”He pauses, like the words cost him something.“Or you leave for a while. Learn what you are. Learn how to control it before it controls you.”I wait for the pressure. For the fear. For him to tell me which option hurts less.He does not.He just looks at me. Fully. Like he is giving me space to be myself even if it takes me away from him.Tha

  • The Moon’s Pure wolf    Chapter Forty Three- What the Moon Never Warned Me About

QUEENETH’S POVThe truth does not arrive all at once.It comes like splinters. Small. Sharp. Each one digging in deeper than the last.It starts with whispers after the attack. Elders speaking too softly. Books being moved from places I am not meant to see. Collins arguing with people behind closed doors and coming out quieter than he went in. No anger. Just weight.I notice how no one says Reuben’s name out loud anymore. Not like before. When the pieces finally start to connect, it is not dramatic. No sudden revelation. Just a slow understanding that makes my chest feel too tight for my lungs. The voice Reuben follows is not a spirit. Not a rogue Alpha. Not even something born of this land.It is older than packs.Older than the Moon as we know her now. They explain it carefully, like they are afraid I might shatter if they speak too directly. A force that does not rule openly. A thing that feeds through bloodlines rare enough to bend fate around them. It does not choose mates for lo

  • The Moon’s Pure wolf    Chapter Forty two- When Teeth Met the Border

QUEENETH’S POVThe attack does not announce itself. There is no warning horn. No dramatic break in the sky. One moment the forest is breathing the way it always does, slow and familiar, and the next moment everything tilts like the world missed a step.It starts with a sound I have never heard before. Not a howl. Not a growl. Something thinner. Like air being torn instead of flesh.Amy reacts before I do.She does not scream. She does not panic. She settles. That alone tells me this is real.Shapes slip through the trees, wrong in ways I cannot explain at first. Wolves, but stretched. Their movements are too fluid, like shadows that learned how to bite. Their eyes catch the light and throw it back dull and empty. Not hungry. Not angry.Purposeful.The border flares. Someone shouts. Another voice answers. Then everything happens at once.I do not think. I move.Collins is beside me without asking, without looking back to see if I am still there. His shoulder brushes mine once, quick, g

  • The Moon’s Pure wolf    Chapter Forty- Shattered Under the Moon

QUEENETH’S POVThe night of the moon ritual was supposed to be careful. Measured. Safe. A way to pull all the scattered pieces of myself together. But as soon as the silver light hit my skin, I felt something older stir. Something that had been waiting beneath my ribs, beneath my control, beneath the surface of everything I thought I knew about myself.A whisper slid through me. Not Amy. Not me. Not human. Something that made my blood tighten and my heart speed in a way that felt like warning and promise at the same time. My legs trembled before my body even obeyed. The elders’ hands reached for me, gentle at first, then firmer as fear spread in their eyes.“Stop,” I said. My voice wasn’t mine. It was sharper, colder, with an echo like it came from far away. The words didn’t carry anger. They carried authority. Command. They froze. No one dared touch me after that. Not even to help. Not even to guide. Their eyes were wide and careful, and for a moment I could feel the weight of every

  • The Moon’s Pure wolf    Chapter Thirty Nine- Traces Only I Can See

QUEENETH’S POVThe forest feels different now. Every shadow seems sharper, every rustle louder, like it’s breathing just for me. Reuben is near. I know it without hearing his voice or seeing his face. The signs are small, but they speak louder than any words ever could. A scratch on a tree shaped like our childhood mark. A stone carefully placed where we used to play. My stomach tightens. He’s close enough that Amy stirs, her ears flicking, tail swishing like she’s tasting danger before I even understand it.Amy doesn’t want to run. She wants to hunt. That scares me more than the threats, more than the dark whispers that have haunted my nights. I can feel her tension, sharp and raw against my own fear. My hands ball into fists, trembling, but I don’t move away. I can’t. The thought of leaving my senses blank, leaving the forest unprepared, makes something inside me roar.Collins is beside me, silent at first. Then he starts training me. Not gently. Not like before when he made it feel
