Chapter 9

Tasha is awake.

Ryan's POV

“Are you serious?” The basin dropped from my hands and the water spilled harshly on our bodies.

My eyes swiveled to Tasha and to Luke I took the file from him and read the final report, Tasha was indeed pregnant.

Who's the father of the child? Her mate? Or me?

“How many months?” I cleared my throat.

“Three weeks.” He answered.

How on earth was the baby still alive, with all the hell Tasha has been through. I kind of wish the baby was mine, there's just this thing about Tasha that I couldn't put my hands on, she's different from the type of girls I've met.

“The baby is fine right?” I asked Luke whose eyes lingered on Tasha's body.

“Yes,the baby is fine, this woman is too strong for an Omega.” He commented.

“I agree with you Luke.” I replied.

“Is there any other thing that I need to know?” I asked him,not wanting any other surprises.

“No for now Sir.”

“I'll come back to check on her,I have some stuff to take care of.” I told Luke, peered at Tasha one more time before leaving the ward.

On my way to the office I couldn't take my mind off Tasha,why was she on the run? Did she do something terrible? But she didn't look like a person who could hurt a fly. I guess I just have to wait for her to wake up and things would be cleared.

“The elders are waiting in your office.” Connor said as soon as I got there.

The elders? What's their problem this time?

“Any idea what they want?” I asked Connor as we both walked inside.

“I guess it's about the rogue issue.”

The elders were discussing something but when they noticed my presence they stopped and greeted me,I responded to their greeting and went to sit on my chair. Connor was now standing beside me,I looked around, they were all present, the three of them.

“To what do I owe this visit?”

“Alpha Ryan,we will just stick to the point.” Elder Johnson,the most cunning of them all, spoke up.

“That would be great.” I replied to the annoying man.

The elders of the pack are like the pack law jurisdiction it is their duty to make sure the Alpha is doing the right thing and that the pack is in good hands.

But I had a problem with these ones, they never liked me and I never liked them either,one little mistake from my path and they will come gnashing their teeth.

“The rogues are getting out of hand and you haven't been doing anything to stop them!” Johnson yelled and I growled loudly at their remark.

They might not like me but they have to respect me. It's a must,I am their Alpha.

“If you talk to me in that manner again Johnson,I'll have your head ripped apart.” I spoke with a stern tone.

Just because he is an elder and he's Xavier's father doesn't give him the right to disrespect me.

“I won't spare you next time, Johnson, not even for Xavier's sake.” I warned him.

“I apologize Alpha,it won't happen again.” He said in a low voice.

“The rogue's attack is alarming,that I know but my men and I are hot on their trail and we will soon locate their hideout and they won't leave to tell the tale of messing with the Storm Pack.” I assured them.

“But-”

“Is that all?” I cut Johnson short.

He looked at the rest,Tony and Peter to see if there was anything left.

“I guess that will be all.” When I saw their hesitation,I pointed to the door.

“Good day Alpha.” They stood, bowed and left my office.

I sighed, turned the swivel chair to face Connor who was now sitting down.

“Thank goodness that they didn't talk about your mate issues.” He said.

“I dare them to.”

I knew they were spreading rumors about me refusing to get married. It's not as if I can't pick a random lady and make her mine but there's more to it.

“What do we do about the rogues?” He asked.

I rubbed my chin as I thought of the possible solution to find out where those tyrants are hiding.

And why the heck are they targeting my pack? The rogues are merciless, true but they don't go into packs. Which means there's an ulterior motive which we haven't figured out yet.

“We have to hunt them down. Once we get our hands on one, we will put a tracker on him and let him go.”

“That could work.” Connor agreed.

I was thinking of where we could launch an attack when Connor's phone vibrated and he looked at me worriedly.

“Tell me nothing bad has happened.” I frowned.

“Dante broke Lisa's arm.”

“What the heck!!” I sprang up from my seat and took my car key.

“What happened?” I asked him as we rushed out of the office.

“What in the world came over Dante for him to break my sister's arm!!”

When we got home,I barged inside looking for Dante I. I swear I'm going to kill him. They might be my friend but I don't joke with Lisa, she is the only blood relative I have left.

“What's going on here?” Dante was wrapping a bandage around Lisa's arm.

The both of them looked up at me,I superspeed to Dante and threw him over the wall.

“Ryan!!” Lisa yelled.

“What’s…wrong… with you man?” Dante groaned.

I was about to punch him in the face, when Connor grabbed my hand.

“Let go Connor,why the heck will you break her arm!!!” I yelled at Dante.

“It wasn't intentional.” Dante coughed and I tried punching him again but Connor held me still.

“He is telling the truth Ryan.” Lisa rushed to my side. “We were playing arm wrestle and he overpowered me…and my arm broke in the process.” She bowed her head.

Connor roared in laughter and released his grip,Dante stood up and dusted his clothes. I stood still trying to process Lisa's words before my phone rang.

“Yes.” It was Luke who called.

“The woman is awake, Alpha.
