Chapter 2

Earlier that morning, Matt’s father, Steve and some other members were attracted to the scene by painful cries coming from there. There were bodies and blood scattered all over the places. The culprit was in shifted body. A wolf from his head right to the shoulder and the rest of his body was that of a man. He had just finished with his last victim when they arrived.

“Get him!!” Matt's father screamed as the unknown culprit ran away. Dylan, who was already turned by extreme anger, half wolf, half man body and two others went after him.

“What kind of savagery is this” Matt's father could not believe his eyes. He couldn’t understand why someone could have done that.

“He looked familiar” one of the members said. Matt's father was also thinking the same thing but he was not sure. Right now that someone uttered that, everyone knew that the wolf they saw looked like no one else but Matt.

“I thought so, he was one of us” Matt’s father ascertained. No one could dare say it was Matt. There was no way to prove that, except that he looked like him and he was not here with them which was very unusual. He would be among the first to reach the place on hearing such cries of agony.

Dylan and the other two who ran after the culprit came back. They were silent and sad. Their silence were more than not just able to catch him. It was of something worse.

Dylan walked closely to Matt’s father and handed him a necklace. It was his dead wife’s, Matt's mother. He used to have it on him everytime to feel his wife's presence. He held the necklace with one hand and searched all over his body with his other hand.

“No” he shouted as he couldn’t find it on his body. The other members murmured.

“Despite how we all promised, Matt still did this” one of the members proclaimed. At least, their doubts were cleared.

“No, he can’t” Matt's father objected and left. Matt couldn’t do such a heinous things. He was soft, merciful not wicked and ruthless like what they were looking at. That was what happened.

Matt thought about the whole situation, it was a setup. Anybody could steal his mother's necklace from his father. The mystery therein was the striking resemblance. A criminal which looked like him with his mother's necklace going against his father’s order. Somebody wanted them to fight, that was obvious to him not to his father. He needed a way to sort out this mess.

“Thanks”Matt stood up suddenly and wanted to leave.

“What? Where are you going?” Steve asked in amazement.

“I’m going home, of course ” Matt answered. Where else would he go. What did he even mean by that question.

“ You can’t go home now” Steve stood up. Why couldn’t he go home? Why was he saying this? “Your father didn’t look like he will be calm that soon” Steve concluded.

“Calm or not. He won’t kill me. I’m going” His father might be angry but he was still his father. No anger could blind him to that.

“You can go, of course he is your father, but that won’t be advisable” Steve implied. Matt was not just bent on going home. He was feeling sleepy. Dizziness was taking over his body. He thought he should be at home by now.

“Steve,I really need to crash” Matt said weakly. That was enough reason to leave but Steve only laughed.

“So, your house is the only place you should sleep” Steve smiled. “If you are not comfortable on the couch. There is a bed”

Matt was not used to sleeping anywhere else than his home but with the present situation with his father and the slumber overriding his body. A sleep out would be ideal. He sat down quietly. He was really feeling sleepy. Like he had not sleep for days.

“Feel free” Steve moved away to give more space. Matt was happy he could sleep right away. He drank the last drop of his drink and laid on his side. He slept off immediately.

He woke up and looked around. It seemed he had slept for a long time. He peeped through the window. It looked like morning.

“What the hell? Have I slept through the night” He looked at his feet as he felt some pain. There were bruises. He couldn’t understand what was happening. He didn’t remember when he was wounded. He was also surprised why they were not healing.

“Steve, what is happening?” there was no response. Something was happening and it was very bad. He remembered how he came to this place after his father had rained anger on him. He should leave before it would be too late. He leapt to the door, the bruises on his feet couldn’t let him walk perfectly. He was already outside when he received another shock.

“That’s him, don’t let him get away!” Dylan screamed. He and few other people ran over to Matt. They beat him and carried him away.

They took him back home. The same spot where his father had yelled at his face the previous day. He was on his kneels, tied with shackles. Everyone who was there the previous day was there except for his father. He looked around narrowly through his bloodshot eyes. A staggering slap landed across his face. He fell to the floor. That was Dylan, he helped him back to his knees.

That was it, they must have concluded that their investigation and found him guilty. He remembered his father threats if he was found guilty but it seemed too fast of them to have reached a conclusion. Just overnight. The shortest night in his life that Steve still had a lot of explanations to feed him.

He was still wondering why his father had not yet showed up. As the alpha, he would be the one to deliver the judgement. He must have developed cold feet. The judgement would be very hard for him to get cold feet, maybe he couldn’t bear passing such a heavy judgement on his son. At least, he was a human being, a werewolf actually. But that would not help his record of being highly disciplined. He must be around. He must carry out his duties as expected of him.
