Chapter 5

Just then, the two at the gates rushed to a direction. Matt couldn’t see what was happening but the sounds and noises he was hearing was clear enough to know what was going on. They were fighting someone in their wolf's body. Matt clutched the gate with his hands and was trying to peep through the gate.

The cause of the fight was another mystery. It could be Dylan, maybe he had come up with another plan not welcomed by Eric. One of them was thrown to the front of the gate right in front of Matt. He turned back into a human being. He was dying and crying painfully. A wolf in its whole form walking on its four limbs walked over him and pulled off his shirt and pants. Matt was initially doubting if the wolf was a werewolf or a real wolf. But the way it was pulling off his clothes, it was definitely a werewolf. It would wear the clothes when it changed back because it would be naked, without clothes.

He had about werewolves who changed their whole body when they turn but he would be confirming that’s not a myth right now. The wolf stopped and stared at him in the eyes for a while. Matt looked into its eyes in a way that could make it angry. But the wolf was calm,it didn’t react to that. He moved out to where Matt couldn’t see it. It made soft groans. It was turning. Matt was very eager to see it was.

A girl wearing the clothes the wolf removed came back to the gate of the cell. It was a girl,a beautiful girl. She looked familiar to Matt but he was doubting. It couldn’t be who he thought she was. But it was her. No matter what he tried to think. The girl unlocked the gates, she had the keys.

It was Angela,  Lopez one and only daughter. Many had lost their lives for making her angry. Lopez could trade all the members of his pack for her.

Matt gathered his mind. She must have been informed that he killed her people and she was here to avenge them. He didn’t see how the people he was accused of killing died but everybody claimed it was brutal. That meant she would be merciless in taking his life. She made her way in and started breaking the shackles on Matt.

This would be worse. She was taking him to her people. Whatever it was that was about to happen. Matt decided never to fight. Even if he wanted to fight, there was no strength in him right now. The last of his strength had withered off. He broke him free and dragged him behind. It looked like he was rescuing him not kidnapping that he thought earlier. Women are deceitful, why would she rescue him. Matt didn’t trust her but he followed her planning silently in his mind.

“Can you turn?” she asked quietly as they sneaked out. It took Matt a while before he could understand what she meant. He couldn’t understand why she wanted to know. She didn’t need it unless she really wanted to rescue him and wanted them to move fast. Trying to turn would be very hard in his present condition.

“I won’t be able to carry you if I turn. One disadvantage of whole body shifting” she joked and smiled broadly. Matt tried hard not to be concerned by her friendly gestures. He kept mute.

“We are going this way” she pointed to an unclear path in the woods. That was what he thought, werewolves that would devour him mercilessly would be laying in wait for him. She didn’t need to cover that up. He had zero chance to escape anyway. He wouldn’t be able to fight or outrun her.

“I know you are going to kill me and there is nothing I can say to avert that. But, you particularly should know nothing about your people’s death” Matt said weakly. It was better for him to accept his fate. There was nothing else to live for.

“I knew everything that happened. All what Dylan did” she narrated with a consoling voice. This was Angela, the daughter of Lopez. She was the last person Matt would expect to be so comforting. If she knew, then his father will also know and they would be planning revenge. Everything was now making sense to Matt. They need him to fight Dylan and he would be more than glad to help them. They came upon a tent not well tied, it wouldn’t stand a strong wind. It would flew off like a piece of paper if such wind blew past it.

“Are we going to meet your father?” Matt was a little bit afraid. Lopez was rumored to be merciless and wicked. He had never met with him up so close.

“Lopez is dead,I am the only one left of our pack” she said without feeling sad about it. She went into the tent. Matt paused before following her in. Inside was well arranged and set like a bedroom. Matt entered and stood like a statue. He made him sat down, removed his shoes and laid him on his back. She brought something for him to drink.

“This will make you heal fast” she gave him the potion. Matt took it, she was really helping him. Matt felt sleepy. He remembered when he was in Steve's apartment, how he felt back then. The feeling seemed similar. He fought it, he didn’t want to sleep.

“You need to sleep for your body to recover. I will prepare something for you to eat” Angela dashed outside. Matt thought he needed to trust her. She really cared for him. He quietly fell asleep.

He woke up some hours later. He was fully healed. He never thought it would be that fast. He found a plate of food beside him. It was raw meat. No wonder they turned their whole body when shifting. Matt feasted on the food. It tasted good, better than he expected. He ate it up hurriedly. He did not understand how the food happened to be so delicious and he did not want to. All he wanted was to be filled with this tasty dish. He finished the food. He went outside where he thought Angela would be. She sat on a fallen tree trunk. He went to sit beside her. Angela smiled on sighting him.

“You are awake” she held his hand.

“And fully healed” Matt completed, “ thanks to you and the potion” Matt also smiled.

“You like the food?” She gazed at his face. Matt looked away. She must have been peeping when he was eating. She must have seen how he gulped it down hungrily.
