Chapter 3

"My Alpha is looking for you." The man says in a gruff voice.

"What Alpha? I haven't seen anyone else out here." I try lying.

"Don't lie," he growls "You're the only one out here and I caught your scent as we left the clearing. Now come with me."

I hold my ground and he huffs.

"I will take you by force. Your choice, easy way or the hard way."

"O..okay."

Damn. I knew this was going to happen. Axel is jumping for joy in my head and all I can think about is what hell I'm going to be put through in the new pack. I don't want to join a pack. Never again I promised myself. I was just a waste of space so what good would I be in a new pack? Maybe she'll kill me and just get things over with first. Maybe she'll at least grant one last request from her mate. I know exactly what it'll be too. Kill that mother fucking Alpha Gregory. One can only hope she'd grant me that at the very least.

We walk a few miles until we get to a line of patrol guards stretched out every few yards. We pass them and they all nod to the man walking with me. He must be the Beta or Gamma. Second and third in command after the Alpha of course. I'm surprised they follow her. It's rare for a female to take the Alpha role. She must be strong and well respected.

We make our way to the pack house. You couldn't miss it. It's the biggest house in the whole town. We walk up the steps and go through the front door. The inside looks e enough bigger. Super tall ceiling, I don't know how they dust the chandelier. Must have a really tall ladder. That'd be the only way. The floor looks like a smooth marble. Our footsteps echo as we make our way to the staircase.

After going up a couple of floors we stop at a big wooden door.

"Wait here."

I nod and he knocks and then opens the door closing it behind him.

After a few minutes the door opens again. "Come in." He says.

I do as I'm told and walk through the door. Inside the room is a wooden desk with a lot of papers and a beautiful wolf carved out of wood. The room is painted a dark maroon with a couple portraits here and there. I look back over to the desk and the leather chair that was facing away from me is now facing me with a beautiful girl staring back at me. My breath hitches and she smiles.

"Hello. My name is Lillana. You are?" She asks.

"Mark, ma'am."

"Ma'am? Well aren't you a gentleman. I prefer Alpha though. Got a better ring to it." She says smirking at me.

"I'm sorry ma.....Alpha." I bow my head.

"Why did you run from me? You must know who I am?"

"Mate!" Axels slips out and yells at her. I step back trying gain control.

She smiles, "Yes, mate. So why would you run from your mate? Do you plan on rejecting me?"

"No. I didn't want to be rejected."

She looks at me for a second, then to her beta and then back to me.

"Why would I reject my mate?" She asks.

"Well because you are an Alpha and I am scum." A flash of pitty crosses her eyes.

"You think you're scum because you are a rogue?" I nod.

"I used to be an omega too. That's why I am scum. I'm not worth anything other than being a slave." She looks at her beta again and he shrugs.

"Why do you think you're scum because you're an omega? We wouldn't be anywhere without our omegas. They make sure we have clean clothes, equipment, fresh food. They are not our slaves. They are pack members who contribute just like everyone else." I just stare at her confused.

"No? Omega's are slaves. We aren't part of the pack. We're underneath everyone else."

"Who told you this? I think I'd like to meet this person who thinks every pack member isn't equal."

I go to open my mouth and quickly shut it again. What if she is just asking trying to get me to talk. Maybe Alpha Gregory sent out word that he's looking for me. What if she tells him I'm here?

I start to back away slowly trying to think of how I'm going to out run the Alpha and Beta. She runs over and holds my arms gently but still tight enough I wouldn't run. Tingles cover my arms where she touches me and while I still wanted to run, I am more calm now.

"Shh. I'm not going to hurt you. Can you tell me what's wrong? What frightened you?" I say nothing in return. She must think I'm a child. I sure am acting like a scared little boy even though I'm 18.

"Steven, would you please leave us?"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. I'll be okay. Can you have Marie bring us some tea? Maybe some sandwiches? Are you hungry?" She asks looking me In the eye.

I was a little hungry but I still don't know if I could trust these wolves so I shook my head no.

"Okay, just the tea then. Thank you." Steven walks out leaving us alone. She guides me to a chair and gently pushed me down and then walks around her desk and sits in hers. She sits patiently waiting until she feels I'm comfortable enough to sit down.

A few minutes later someone knocks on the door.

"Come in!"

A young woman in the early thirties walks in with a tray that has a pot of tea, two glasses filled with ice and some sugar cubes. "Thank you Marie." The woman sits the tray down nods to the Alpha and me and then leaves the room. I eye the pot of tea.

"Would you like some?" I gulp and shake my head no. It could be poisoned. As if reading my mind she drinks traight from the pot. "See? It's okay, I promise." She hands me a glass of tea and offers the bowl of sugar cubes to me and I take a couple and stir them into my tea. I take a small sip and set it back down. She is an Alpha. They could handle a little bit of poison. A small sip shouldn't do any harm to me. Still staring at me, we sit in awkward silence, I guess she's waiting for me to start talking.
