Violet's POV

"Are you okay dear", I asked with great concern.

"I hope you are not wounded", I picked her up and checked her to see if she is well.

"Where is your mom?", I further quizzed her as I held her tightly while looking around for a female figure to come and get her but no one came forward.

"Where is your mo-", I couldn't finish as she interrupted me with her hug.

I felt a shocking wave through me and I wished she was mine at that moment.

Maybe motherhood is beckoning on me or is it just my nature but I couldn't explain it as I smiled and held on to her stroking her hair.

"What are you doing here?", a familiar voice from the back came up.

"I thought I told you to stay put", Ansel added again while I still squat with the girl but facing him.

The little girl buried her face in my chest, refusing to let go of me.

"Shhhh, common Ansel, you will scare her the more", I said seriously while still squatting.

"Wha--, he wanted to talk but was interrupted by a woman, I guess h
