Kelly did not respond. She just looked at Charles, then at Sam.
Sam suddenly felt a lump in her throat. Although she was aware that Charles could not remember her, those words coming directly from him were like a stab in her heart that caused deep sharp pain.
Still, she pretended to be strong and tried to fight back her tears. She would not make herself look pitiful in front of them.
However, she could not stay there any longer. She took her bag and excused herself. Then, she went out of the room and decided to leave the hospital as fast as she could.
While driving, Sam clearly recalled Charles’ reaction when he removed his hand from hers while his cold words were kept on playing on her ears.
“Charles, why? How could you forget about me?” She felt like Charles left her hanging on a cliff.
It was very difficult for her to accept that Charles had forgotten everything about her.
